All I can really say that I am VERY much looking forward to it, even now just moments after having played this game to the end, I'm already growing impatient and antsy to continue the story, baaaah, it's too good, why must it be so good? It's torture, the wait between updates I mean :p

Now that I think about it, y'all might be setting a record here when the story is concluded, I mean, won't this be like the longest running projects ever, a project that would also be finished? Well in either case, absolutely brilliant work y'all have done so far and no doubt will keep doing, my big congrats and thank yous to the whole team :)
To be honest, I was the same way after sending the final stuff to @Palanto and immediately began writing the story for the next game... we don't want to be down long, but we want to be sure that when we start the next game that it is the same quality that people have come to expect from us, just in a new game engine.

I already thought we were one of the longest running games out there... we actually finished one! :D

Joke aside, yeah, we probably will have one of the largest games ever to be done and, really, I would like ALL of our titles such as: "Wicked Choices", "Ebon Knights", and others to be as memorable as "Zork", "Final Fantasy 7", "Halo", etc... something that people will talk about the story for years and years, saying things like: "I remember this one game I played, a while back..."

To me, that is a legacy... something to be proud of... while we may be making a "porn" game, there is no law keeping us from making it the BEST porn game ever made... or, at least, one that opened the door for other creators to make other porn games just as detailed and rich in story... rather than the same ol' "boy has mom and sis, boy tries to fuck mom and sis..." or "dad has daughter... players suffer blue balls for years waiting to fuck daughter" games out there. LOL

It really is the absolutely captivating story as well as the storytelling that makes this an epic journey, so much attention paid to every detail, nothing feels generic, each scene had a build-up, all the while both MCs struggling with their own morals, emotions and feelings. All those struggles and revelation, the hardships, the story really aims to flesh out a lot of feelings in the reader, make you feel certain type of way, perhaps even connect with the characters and such, I mean wow. I'm quite sure that many people will agree with me saying that I only wish this type of storytelling and the quality of it would rub off to more developers. Like you said, games where sex and scenes and whatever are almost instantaneous are a dime a dozen, very few games have an actual story with proper build-ups and such. But at the same time everyone has their own vision and style, and that's not a bad thing either, I just appreciate the story most of all, which is why I'm here :)

So best to go what path for confidence?
Ultimately I don't think it really matters which trait you pick, during the first chapters it does help gain extra points with different girls, depending on the trait, but the overall usefulness is questionable, and the traits haven't seemed to have any effect the past couple of chapters. :p

EDIT; Okay, I just realized that this was still "Wicked Choices" thread and not "Acting Lessons" where I'm more used to seeing rebeldad in, in part because of his avatar, that's Liam, haha XD

EDIT 2: Yes it kind of matters which route you take, the "trait", basically choosing either the "light" or "dark" path, best play both routes, haha. I think you can even alternate between "light" and "dark" choices regardless the path you take to mix things up, basically making you neutral in a sense. @rebeldad

Uhm, it's 1 link to a mega.nz folder, inside this folder are multiple folders with all the files, from the gigantic big one 3.88GB file with ALL the game files inside to updates from 0.5.2.x to 0.6.1.0 from ~150MB to ~900MB

So it's the same as it was before with millions of links but just in a single link ;) You only have to find the right file you need, in your case you'd probably want to go to the "Updates" folder and inside this one you can find the "Full Sized" or "Small Sized" folder which holds the big update and small update...

actually it really is the same, since the folder structure was always like that, but instead of just linking to single files we released the whole folder structure so you can browse through it yourself ;)

I didn't delve that deep as I am not too familiar with how that works, checked it and understand, thx for not being too condescending of my ignorance on how that worked. :)

i'm not going to trash the dev for wanting to switch to rpgm..it is their game and their right to do whatever they please...i just know alot of folks who are big ren'py fans will walk away fast...i'll reserve personal judgement until i've tried part 2 as rpgm..there are a few...very few rpgm games that are actually good..and i hope the dev's peeked at those few to get clues how to do rpgm up right...and if they do..i'll be here singing the praises.

Some people it's so fundamentalist. Mean the story, the dialogues, the renders... nothing matters, just want a click to click visual novel. The quality isn't important at all.

well the angelions failed! they tried to prevent me from getting the next version, but i had just finished d/ling it when they struck a major data center of ATT's with lightning and caused a fire that cut off my internet... i'm sure the demonothans helped me get it all before then!

Well Jack and team did manage to put much more story into a Renpy as most and I think it will be Palanto who is the one responsible for making the RPGM side to shine and has been working on that idea quite a while already. So I do hope they will pull off what they envisage. I am pretty sure with the negative connotations around RPG maker games they did not decide to switch lightly, but because for what they want to do they do need that platform.

To me it would be a shame to pass up on game from a team that have shown they can make a game with a great story, just because most other Devs have not been able to use RPG Maker well in the past.

I would not hold to much hope though of the storytelling rubbing off too much. Some devs are just not great storytellers and as in all commercial ventures it is the easily accessible and quick gratification with good marketing that often is most successful. Just glad games like Wicked Choices and Depraved Awakenings and others shows there is also a place for devs that want to bring more and let us enjoy their work. :FeelsGoodMan:

That revenge was too quick.
Not really so quick when you consider that the side-arc game that will be coming out next is a detailed accounting of that revenge just performed... ;)

..Sometimes, the actions we perform today aren't felt or experienced right away... the BEST revenge... is one that takes time and totally screws up the person(s) life and is felt forever.

Not that I have ever... ahem... performed such actions in my life... *clears throat and looks around innocently*

I chose to listen to Syrina and didn't have that error, and I used a previous save.

Glad to hear that the Angelions were unsuccessful in their foolish attempt to prevent you from experiencing Syrina's shinning moment in history (she is forcing me to say that right now... send help!), @tsunku, hope you find the struggle to get it, worth it and that you enjoy it!! :)

...IN REGARD TO GAME ENGINE SWITCH FROM REN'PY TO RPG MAKER MV...

I can certainly understand and appreciate the concern, grumblings and disapproval that many are sharing in our thread here... I can assure you, we didn't make this choice lightly and we understood while making it that we would end up losing some people as a result of that choice, however, it is a choice we felt we had to make and won't go back on; we've already invested a lot of time, money and resources into this decision and even if we wanted to go back on that decision (which we don't at this point), it is a little late to and we are committed now.

As developers, we will ALWAYS remain committed to doing what we feel is best for the story and the vision of our game, I think we've certainly demonstrated our commitment to adhere to that base principle when we failed to back down to overwhelming complaints and pressure imposed on us by some players that wanted us to alter OUR GAME to their desires (like we've witnessed some creators unfortunately do to their work in the past).

This is no different!!

Personally, I NEVER liked Ren'py... I only choose it as a vehicle for my game in the beginning, because I lacked the programming skill and knowledge to do it in any other format; to me, it is just a glorified, picture book that needs a crap ton of work and effort to pull it out of that format... why spend valuable time, resources and open ourselves up to the increased chance of bugs, reinventing the wheel to have that piece of software perform in a way that RPG Maker MV can do instantly??

Just to appease people who've had bad experiences from other creator games, or from those who treat the whole "Ren'Py/RPGM" situation like it is a MAC vs PC, FORD vs DODGE vs CHEVY argument??

We told people at the very start of @Palanto coming on board with us, that we envisioned MORE for this game, that if we had our way and if we could garner the support that we wanted and needed, that we would go to a Unity based system that would enable first or third person RPG gameplay...

...in a year's time, we didn't get that support... we worked our tails off, busted our humps to deliver a game that we felt had MORE depth and possibilities to gamers than many of the games currently out there; meeting our goals through a very difficult year, doing our very best to meet the promises that we made to people here (to a large degree of success) for very little compensation... but a healthy amount of accolades (to which we are grateful for)...

...HOWEVER... it has been an incredible challenge to meet all of those goals and promises, while maintaining our fulltime (12 hours a day... except for the wife who only works 40 hours a week in hers, but has to take care of my ugly ass, which is more of a job than her actual job) jobs and not see the kind of "return" that we would've liked to have seen to award us more time to work on the game and go to a REAL game engine... rather than Ren'Py or RPGM.

We are EXTREMELY THANKFUL AND LUCKY to have received the support that we've received from those members from here who have spent the last year, parting with their own HARD EARNED DOLLAR monthly to support us. It IS because of their SACRIFICE and constant COMMITMENT to us that we were able to do the work we did this past year and delivered this game to you... if ANYONE should be thanked for the game that you've enjoyed playing, it is THEM!!!

Whether you know this or not... Ren'Py games don't get NEAR AS MUCH SUPPORT on Patreon as RPGM games... we have been and are fortunate that the $900 to $1,000 we made a month, consistently, was the result of dependable supporters who stuck with us the entire year!!!

While other Patreon creators have their monthly numbers jump ALL OVER THE PLACE, Palanto and I had a constant backbone of loyal players and supporters who believed in our work faithfully from start to finish of "Wicked Choices: Book One" it is to THEM that we remain committed to, it is to THEM we wish to deliver MORE to and to do that, and our original vision, we need to make changes we've decided to make.

I have been VERY OPEN and HONEST with everyone here and on Patreon... I don't HIDE who I am or behind a screenname, I hold myself ACCOUNTABLE for when I screw up and both Palanto and I try our BEST to be different from many other creators out there... we have a VISION for OUR FUTURE (to do this for a living) and for OUR GAMES, but to obtain that FUTURE we WORK SO HARD FOR, we need to make MONEY and Patreon provides that possibility for us... and Ren'Py isn't that vehicle to get us there.

We WILL remain dedicated to the STORY, we WILL remain dedicated to our SUPPORTERS, we WILL remain dedicated to our VISION, our HOPES, our GOALS and our DREAMS... if you wish to remain with us during that JOURNEY, we will happily have you along and enjoy this RIDE TOGETHER, but if you wish to leave, wish to pass up a chance to see what we hope to do with our games, well, that's up to you and we WISH YOU THE BEST... there's nothing more we can say.
