I was getting a bunch of errors too starting with Claire coming downstairs the 1st time.
I tried to watch the video and it was all out of focus so impossible to follow without volume on and can't do that until later.
What I picked up on was to run 4.2.2 and tab through some of it. So...
I cleared out the update folder and unzipped 4.2.2 again (this is why I hold onto the zips - question from another thread).
Tabbed through to the mini demon on the table bit (a random point answering questions randomly). Very scientific, I know.
Finally copied the update files into 4.2.2 and overwrote everything and the errors with Claire have stopped (no idea on the rest as I'm messing with other stuff too)
Yep, actually if you just extract the zip file it holds a folder called "WickedChoices-pc" which the old version should have done too
So you just copy the new WickedChoices-pc over the old one and replace all old files... Works like a charm
HI hows does this work using a mac all i get is replace ?
I don't own a Mac... so
@Palanto Games, or someone else who uses a Mac, may need to help you, but I believe it should work like the PC, where you open the file, open the folder within the file, extract into the Wicked Choices folder from 0.4.2.2 and replace/overwrite all files and then you are done.
IMPORTANT
Install Instructions for the Update/Patch files:
Mac players: Right click on the application, and then on show contents. This will reveal a folder in both the original and update files called "Contents". Then, while pressing option (the "alt" key), move the Contents folder from the update/patch to the original application. You should then get a dialog box asking whether you want to stop, replace or merge the folders. Choose merge and you'll be done.
Windows and Linux players: just extract the .zip file in the folder above your old WickedChoices-pc folder (please make sure it is called just that "WickedChoices-pc" nothing more). Overwrite everything it asks for (If it doesn't ask then you did something wrong!) after that you're done.
Android users: have to download the new version in full size, sorry about that but there isn't any other way for renpy games.
If you don't have enough space to overwrite your old game with the update, please make sure to backup your savegame folder: sdcard/Android/data/com.aslpro3d.wickedchoices
then uninstall the game, download the new version to your mobile phone or tablet and install it. After the installation you can copy the com.aslpro3d.wickedchoices folder back to it's original location.
If you have enough space, download the new version and install it (It's going to overwrite the old version)
Keep crashing after adding name in a new game:
Code:
I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.
While loading <'Image' u'/prologue/001journal1.png'>:
IOError: Couldn't find file 'prologue/001journal1.png'.
you didn't copy the new files into the old base game...
same here, just dl it and started a new game. can't get past it
same here
and same here!!!
You sure you dl-ed both the game and the update amd not just the update?
Well maybe they did dl them both, but they didn't copy the update files over their base game
Yep, and that 340mb go into the 2gb game folder and replace all old files.
@ASLPro3D @Palanto Games
I'm loving this game so far! I really appreciate a good story in my interactive smut, and this one does a very good job of telling it without feeling like you're being force-fed an encyclopedia's worth of fluff. The actual smut has been equally well done, too!
However, now that this game has passed the 2GB mark, have you given any thought to switching from PNG to another image format, like
You must be registered to see the links
? WebP offers benefits over both JPEG and PNG, namely smaller file sizes than either at the same level of quality. It can do lossless (like PNG) or lossy (like JPEG) compression, and even supports transparency for lossless images. Converting all the images in the game from PNG to lossy WebP images of the highest quality would shrink image sizes down by a little over 75% with no noticeable difference in quality. Ren'py has supported WebP for a little while.
Just saying, I love the game, I hate the download size
The android version has the images in webp lossless, bringing it down to 1.4gb instead of >2gb but ASLPro3D doesn't want that for the PC version because of quality reasons. If you keep the old game folder you don't need to redownload the whole game everytime. Just the updates (between ~200mb to ~400mb) which would reduce your download size by a lot
p.S.: I wrote it multiple times now and even did a tutorial video, so please either read or watch the video it will help you patch the game!
