By that logic, you might as well wait for the game to be completed, since every full release contains all previous releases. I haven't seen any information from Braindrop that would indicate that his weekly releases do anything but take up from where the last one left off.
Download time and capacity can be a problem, but if someone doesn't have a problem with that, why not get everything when it comes out?
Do you think that those Patrons who pay the extra money forego those weeklies? Perhaps some of them do. But I'll bet that most of them race to the website to scarf them up as soon as they receive notification.
I know I'm starting the download of v0.4.4 right now. I'll let you know if I'm forced start over because something showed up in the middle of anything I've already played.

I think you misunderstood me.
What I meant is that, if that person has a bandwidth limit/cap then each of the weeklies he would download would be full size and eat a lot into that limit/cap. Plus playing each of the weeklies on a cap would maybe add a couple minutes of play time but each download would be the full previous game, that sounds terrible on capped internet. I can't imagine downloading a game 6 times in a month, when I could download it once, a week after the month ends, unless I was working for the dev. Maybe 1 day Ren'Py will work like modern games and you can just download updates.

$20 patron here, I don't download/play the weekly updates. Not because I imagine there being a "gotcha" choice or branching path I'll have to go back and replay to fix, nor for fear of bugs, but more because I trust the dev to know the story they want to tell, and the pace they want to set when telling it.
I want to be able to sit down and play through an entire "chapter" and break at the point the dev felt that a pause in the action fit. Getting left in the lurch with a "...well? What happened after THAT?!" feeling sucks.

Yes, it was shrunk in day 2.
If it wasn't as big as it is, how else will we have an away game and it hang out the end of the trouser during a game, confusing the other team and getting our first win, plus a lot of female fans?

Okay. I guess I'm used to developers ending episodes with cliffhangers [see DrPinkCake], so being left a little bit hanging is not that big a thing for me. At least it's only for a week, not 3 months [see BaDIK].
At any rate, in no way am I trying to tell anyone that they need to do it my way. Just giving my perspective on the matter.

Perhaps I don't understand you. I mentioned download caps in my post. I understand that. I often run into that problem with MEGA if my downloads over a certain timeframe exceed 5G. But I can do other things, play other games, while that file is downloading. I often download 3-5 games a day to update games I'm interested in, or just to try out some new game. If I know a game will cause a hold from MEGA, I leave it till the last one so I can get the others out of the way.
But, your situation may be unique, and I will never try to tell you how to do things. What works for me, might not work at all for you. I am sure you have good reasons for downloading this game the way you do.
