Especially considering it would only take maybe 5 to 10 minutes max to post.
There have been very little content updates in the last year.
I won't accuse him of lying about the health issues because I don't want some bad karma in my life. He should get his house checked or something. His family gets sick a lot. Maybe there's like mold or some shit in his house that is causing them to be constantly sick. IIRC he has a new kid too right? To be getting the flu, pneumonia, constant fevers and coughing, 3 times in the last 4 months is crazy.
BUT he is lying about Mackenzie:
If you've been in the Discord for this game, this is the 4th different reason BD has given for Mackenzie disappearing since September. First their Discord stopped working and they lost access to their account, then their PC exploded, then they had an emergency and would be back on November 28th, and now they have the rest of the year off to be with family. Mackenzie never even returned from the first one so

Main reason I don't believe he's sick is that this seems to be a typical excuse for each of his delays, or he keeps experiencing a major once every 10 year event within a couple of weeks of one another. For me, I no longer believe anything he or "Mackenzie" posts because it's reached the point where like clockwork, he's most likely gonna "succumb to some major bad event and be unable to continue his job". I gave him one last chance when "Mackenzie" started posting and he was somewhat on time with a few updates. But now that he's hit another roadblock, he's back to what he did in 2020, 2021, and half of 2022.

yep fair enough though November and December do have 2 of like the four major holidays back to back I'm not tryna become the shield hero look at some of the past posts I'm just saying I've experienced this personally. Though six weeks yes is excessive for a paid pr person .......that started less than a year ago....... and that barely has anything to say .......and has access to their job from almost anywhere on earth .......Yep, you can't really defend this though like I said I wasn't trying to just saying it was possible but after listing out everything yea this doesn't really apply to this situation.

Man, it's such a shame what has happened to this game. I really enjoyed it when I first played it, enough to sub to the patreon and sit through the literal novels of self-hatred diaries the dev would write instead of working on his game. It really got to a point where I felt he spent 98% of his energy on these flagellation rituals instead of just telling himself to shut the fuck up and work.
I hung in for way longer than I should have, and even now hope he will eventually figure it out. I still don't think he's a scammer but he's 1000% a self-sabotager. I jumped out not long after his accountability partner jumped in, but I am betting based on what I've read here that she gave up on this too, assuming she was a real person to begin with.
I don't even really care about the game anymore - it lost its momentum a long time ago in a thousand shallow story threads with a thousand characters. MC went from having a clearcut trajectory to having 9000 banal conversations and a sex scene or two. The writing totally lost passion somewhere along the way and just started feeling very perfunctory. Like I said, it's a shame. Still think the whole thing has a lot of promise, but at this point it needs someone who will treat it like their actual job instead of their least favorite chore.

So... Might as well slate this to the abandoned cycle then. Honestly a shame too. Really loved this game early on then things went entirely south with the development, which some of it can be understandable due to health issues and such, but at this point... BD might be better off having someone else take over this game. Agree to work with someone, let them do the major workings and stuff yet still have input and help with story... for the most part.
I liked WVM from the beginning, but now, BD's clown show delusional excuse factory* is much much more interesting. Fuck the updates, just keep this up, it's hilarious. Like a good TV show, let's see what "happens" next

It will be released when the DEV stops all the BS excuses and actually does some damn work. But that isn't going to happen because his sorry ass is just going to come up with another lame ass excuse as to they need another delay. BD just needs to stop the BS and either abandon the game or put out the fucking update.

IMO, this is the most realistic path forward that results in a finished game actually releasing. Whether he is capable of being honest with himself about that unfortunately is the primary hurdle to it.
That is very tricky, he can't put out the update because of some reasons we mere mortals wouldn't be able to comprehend with out tiny dumb peanut sized brain.
But he can't abandon it either, as it's a dream

with a game that was something city that came up with excuses and promises and finally got the abandoned tag but the Dev is still milking his fans. In some regards I see a similarity between the 2 maybe they are the same person or best friends.

It's sad that this game will never get finished. By far one of the best games on this site. Really wish Braindrop would hire more developers and stick around to help and quality check what they make, but I know that Braindrop is too greedy and lazy to do any of that. Add onto this that his Discord is full of people that just eat up every lie he tells them and worship him as a messiah.
I also have serious concerns about the possibility of this game getting completed. Then if it does ever get finished at the way things are going it is going to take a ridiculous amount of time. IMO the reason people on his discord and patreon keep supporting him is they have a hard time separating the way they feel for the game from the developer. I don't think things will change until more of them do.
