Played through this again with the new update after not playing for a while. Gonna share my thoughts, but first off... my personal (main) girl rankings.
- Scarlett - Cute as hell, lovely romantic touch to her overall storyline, and hot scenes. Add that to the fact that she fulfills the "shy talented nerd girl" fantasy with a sapphic lens and you essentially have the holy grail of porn game love interests.
- Alice (BFF) - The pervert in me likes the whole "girl opening up her bi-curious side" angle, but I also like how genuine and thoughtful the whole process is portrayed. Helps that she's a cutie, too.
- Ezri - She's hot, and has good scenes (especially the one with Sharon), but I kinda feel like she's too perfect in a way? A great athletic body and a fun personality ends up making her feel like a "safe" option as far as hot girls go... but she's still supremely hot!
- Hannah - Cute, but I'm just not a fan of her overall character type and personality. Maybe if she showed some form of "surprising maturity" (and not just the sexual kind) like a hidden talent for some kind of handicraft like woodworking, or just something along that train of thought.
- Ashley - I'm not sure what it is about her, but I'm just not really into her design or scenes as much as the others. It's not like she's a bad character or anything but compared to the others I just don't care for her as much.
- Still not the biggest fan of having the permanent choice between the physics and art classes. The game's still not a great experience to have to start over from nothing, and having to do so just for a few smaller scenes is really not worth it.
- I'm probably not alone on this but I'm a sucker for the side girls (and Alex who's in that not-a-girl-but-still-lesbian enby funzone), especially with their varied body types and backgrounds, so I'd love to see more of them.
- Specifically the ones already in the game though, as much as I'd love to see more ladies I think it'd be better to give more love to the ones we already have, particularly the girls who've only had an intro scene and no sexy stuff like Maple.
- The random events are fun and cute, but getting your "one-per-day" taken from you because of a morning event you have no control over can be lame, especially when you're trying to hunt down the final scenes for completion. Doesn't help that even with the events you can skip or choose not to interact with, they still count as your random event for the day.
- More of the girls doing sexy stuff with each other! Might just be my personal bias coming into play but something like Alice and Scarlett having sex while Rose watches and enjoys would be killer.
- With that in mind, something involving a main girl + a side girl would also be interesting, though I don't know how exactly that'd naturally come into play.

I have the same ranking. And I think the reason is character writing.
This list basically ranks how much the writer cares about each character.
Scarlett is simply better written than all other characters by far. She is the most like a real person. We understand her actions, reactions, attitude and mannerisms. We can predict her behavior because the writing communicates her very clearly to the reader. She has a past, a future, wants, flaws, strengths and dialogue that reflects all of it. I think the writer had a clear vision with this one.
And then there's Ashley, the plank of wood. It hurts me to say that because freckled gingers are my type. But Rose had to tell me near the beginning in narration what Ashley's personality is supposed to be ("chill" or something) because despite seeing all her events, I have no idea who she is. She has no flaws, she has no particular strengths, she has no past, there is nothing about her future, she has no strong reaction to anything other than sex which is the default for everyone in this game anyway. She can't even be bothered to define her sexuality or have a type. There is one teeny tiny bit of dialogue at the end of her final event that might hint at her being a real human being in a future update. But for now she's easily the worst of the main cast and even ranks below several of the minor side characters.
Most other characters aren't that much better. They're all nice and respectful, pay compliments all the time and may have a superficial character trait (like Hannah being cheery and childish). They're girls to look at and have sex with. But then you have Scarlet right there next to everyone else and the contrast is dizzying.
If I were to give advice, I'd say "Give your characters some flaws". Scarlett is not great because she is a confident perfect goddess. She is great partially because she is inexperienced, shy and has deep insecurities that are reflected in her behavior making her qualities more impactful and Scarlett herself relatable as a human being.
I know this is a porn game. Most people don't care about any of this and just want to fap. I just like talking about character writing.
So, I've seen how Ezri/Scarlett/Ashley/Hannah can watch + join when you masturbate, and you can walk in on Ezri + Alice when they're in Ezri's room... but are there currently any scenes in which Alice watches/joins you, or you can actually join with the others, or is this a feature yet to be introduced? I keep getting "I should go now" when MC peeks on the others solo.

- If I were starting the game over, I'd probably do away with the subject choice. The intention was to add some replay value, which is also (partly) why the random events are one per day - I didn't intend for players to see everything in one playthrough. However, I vastly underestimated how much most people do want to see everything.
- I'll definitely keep building the existing side characters, and I don't intend on adding any more until the ones already in game have more scenes. I'm currently holding off on a couple until after I introduce texting characters (whenever that will be), but I might decide to just make their scenes anyway and deal with it later.
- I limited the random events to one-per-day for both gameplay and playability reasons, and for now at least I'm sticking with it. If you get a morning event when you're seeking something else, you could either rollback a little to the previous day, or sleep to the next one.
- I'm gradually adding in more of the other characters fooling around with each other, just takes time! Things will also turn up a notch after the day 60 party I plan to add in v0.60.
- I'd also like to add stuff involving side characters, but for now I'll concentrate on them getting their own scenes.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not gonna go too deep into this right now, but I didn't have a lot of writing experience when starting this, and I'm still learning.
I wanted different types of characters to appeal to different people. This meant some (like Scarlett and BFF) who were inexperienced/shy etc, and others (like Ezri and Ashley) who were more experienced and confident. It did mean that for a while I didn't really know where to go with their characters, but I have a clearer idea for them now.
Like I've said in the past, I'm just doing this as a hobby, and figuring it out as I go.
As an aside, the closest thing to a popularity poll I have so far is the order my patrons have voted for characters to get their next scene, which puts it at:
- BFF (Alice)
- Scarlett
- Ashley
- Ezri
- Hannah
Alice can come in during the pyjama masturbation type, which is only available at night. She needs to have permission, needs to be after the truth or dare party, and then it's a 70% chance.
I plan to add the ability to go further in when watching solo characters in the future!

I should probably have added that I think this game is really good in general. The management aspect of it is forgiving enough to not be annoying to someone like me who generally dislikes the genre and the quantity and quality of sexual content is impressive. The amount of animations is like nothing I've seen for something made on Renpy.
My critiscism was specifically about character writing because I'm a weirdo who cares about it even in an amateur porn game. Honestly, you're doing a good job with Yuri University overall.
