first time posting, i'm another one that liked the game but hated the ending, i was never interested in molly, so her being the end goal... disappointing, i wish molly was a character in acting lessons, i would choose her in a second to die in the fire instead of melissa or megan :ROFLMAO:

The more I read about this ending the more I am grate I have not played since Tales and and Nikki slept together. I dont mind Molly either but I guarantee if a happy ending for Nikki is ending up with a religious guy I would not be happy. I also dont like being shoehorned into 1 choice for the most part which is why I dislike how AL ended

the only thing that disappointed me was not at least having some fun with Niki before it all ended, especially with how the last chapter left the 2 of them.

BUT i am certainly looking forward to the next game after the little teaser :D

I played this update and I liked it. It was a good end with few minor differences in endings. I don't know about other players but I always felt like main goal was Molly, so I never really expected something big with sexy and crazy girls. However, I think it is a missed opportunity not to give some girls an individual ending. Personally I would love to see Cory ending because I liked her the most. Secondary goal was to make sure Nikki is a happy girl and if you don't play as a petty man who wants to keep Nikki close, you will be successful in having your sis happy.

Well maybe my vision on Nikki does not match that of Sumo. But my experience with relations like that between really deeply religious people and atheists, the fact she jumps to the first guy that does not treat her like a sex object which basically is the same kind of pattern as she had before running away from her true feelings for tales by having many boyfriends in a row and her not acknowledging that her feelings for Tales go way beyond the physical and have done for years, make it for me a very unhappy ending whatever Sumo says.

Love does not conquer all, I am old enough to know that, but just running away from the fact those emotions do exist in yourself and throwing yourself at the first available option is no solution either. Like I said I could have lived witha n ending where Nikki and Tales would not be together but Nikki had grown up, accepted her feelings and had then decided to look for her own path. That is not what she did in that ending though in my opinion, exactly the opposite and her unhappiness that would follow from those choices would drive her back in Tales arms or wish for her to be there. remember her first choice is very much in her life and she knows he is available if she wants him. So second best will never do and she never dealt with that fact and keeps denying it.

Yeah, the lack of a Nikki Ending was disappointing. But ultimately there's like a billion VNs so they don't all have to have satisfying endings.
Agreed.

The lack of a Nikki ending was expected, would have liked it, but hey, knew it wasn't happening far in advance.

The Taylor ending however:

Yeah the ending seems rushed and not finished. No matter what i do i got the same ending. Even if i go after Cory for eg. I got always the same ending, Taylor, Nikki and Molly remain friends. Nikki and Marc get married, Solain gets pregnant and so on.

I have only one comment and it's that the Dev didn't give enough at the end in terms of the Molly Love ending. I'm a fan of Molly so her being the only love interest is fine. Spoiler: However the Dev only gave one render of Taylor and her walking and a couple of them fucking at the end. Nikki got a fucking wedding and she's not even the MC wtf. I just feel that you could have done more with the Molly ending considering it it the only good one. If they lived "happily ever after " you should have expressed that better.

Honestly while it wasn't the most enjoyable ending that left me feeling satisfied, lets take a moment to at least appreciate we have an ending.....I've had plenty of vn's/games where they just straight up abandoned it i will admit this felt rushed with little choice on ending but lets face it I've also seen worse endings, we are given a lot of what happened next and i almost require that for a satisfied ending, shit don't end just because they choose too i wanna know what happened after that point, tho to be slightly criticizing it feels like it should of gone for another in game month or so probably, ending at Christmas feels like a cop out just to end it for the holidays and start the next project....and i'm not even sure how that's supposed to work after finding out about a year of "what happened after" but i wont say i'm not at least curious, going to depend how it goes.

DA22 You've been a supporter of my project and I'll forever be grateful for that, but we're going to disagree immensely on this. I think you did hit the nail on the head that your vision and my vision of Nikki don't match in this case. Nikki is not in love with Taylor. She loves him, but she does not want to spend the rest of her life married to him. We don't see any of her relationship with Marc since the story is told from Taylor's perspective. But here are the things we know about Marc: He plays football with D'Brickashaw, he's a virgin by choice, he's a nice guy, and he's good to Nikki. He is almost the male version of Molly that we never really get to meet. And he's the opposite of Nikki but that's why it works. He is intended to balance her out. The ying to her yang, if you will. I'm sorry you see that as a bad thing, but that is not the way it was intended at all.
I know we do not agree on that and also not on the in love part. I think though she has been written as someone who is in love with Tales and has been for years and years. All her behavior in past even from before game started actually points to that. Marc being a good guy and being nice to Nikki and financially well off does not change anything about that and that he is a very bad match for Nikki. (I have myself attended a catholic school, so have had quite a few people I know who were religious get into relations outside the faith and seen what stresses those bring on the relation if the religious partner truly believes in the Bible and teachings of the Church and the other does not. Most of these people were not religious in the sense they wanted to control others with their religion but lived according it for themselves and accepting others thought differently, but it does bring a long an abiding unhappiness and tension to a relation if you truly believe your SO you care for is bound for hell and not even talking about what happens if the non-religious partner would prefer the children to be raised neutrally. Now I am not knocking the religious partner here, these are deeply held beliefs as well and from their point of view very reasonable fears and concerns).

Considering as well that Nikki at the end did not grow up and never really moved on from Tales (and no without truly accepting her feelings from her, that talk between them is just running away again, not an acceptance and moving forward since you consider the price for that relation to high. Especially since she would have had sex with Tales in the pond if you were not on Molly part if Tales had not stopped her at that moment. Well that makes that marriage to me just a recipe for disaster and unhappiness for all parties involved.

I would have much preferred a bitter-sweet ending that would at least lead to a possibility of happiness for Nikki in the more distant future as this unhappily ever after ending that will never be good enough for Nikki, even if Marc is overall a nice and good guy. So in my opinion both Nikki endings are pretty unhappy and made me sad, even if you might not have intended one ending as such.

It is your story though in the end and yours to tell, but unfortunately those endings made me sad. :p

Surprised there wasn't a wedding shot for Tales and Molly. Meeting her family would have been nice too just before that. At least in an ending slide.

I got the bad ending, but I was fine with that. Sumo had said from the beginning that there would be no ending with Nikki, which I was fine with, as it's not like he lied about that. For those of you who wanted that ending, well that's what imagination is for. Write your own ending in your head and enjoy.

Also, it was really obvious through the game that it would be Molly or no one, as the other characters were all reasonably shown to be more like pit stops than potential love interests--and we knew that Nikki was not an option.

Anyway, great game Sumo and I'll be lookin g forward to the next one.

So pretty much everyone here is in agreement that Sumo can tell a good story (up until the end) and he completed a game. I agreed it was far from perfect but dont we want someone like that to stick around and make more games for us??? And do you think giving his game negative reviews and being overly critical and in some cases downright mean is going to encourage someone like that to continue? There's ways to say that I liked 90% of the game but I didnt like the end without being as toxic
Putting aside any "you fucking suck!" style messages, the general reaction is that the dev is a good story teller but becomes a slave to their vision regardless of if it matches what they've actually been making.

We absolutely do want Devs like Sumo around to continue making games. Even with the ending, Sumo and the game continue to get solid thoughts on it. What saddens me is that all the "yeah but..." comments are being either ignored or the problems are being thrown back on the players for being demanding, entitled, or it's the player's fault for wanting something that wasn't the dev's vision.

A creator must either stick to their vision and make sure everything leading up to the ending fits that vision, or accept that the characters are running away from them and adapt the vision. Note that I said adapt. Rowling messed this up at the end of the Harry Potter series by force Hermione and Ron together because it was her original vision even though it didn't fit how her characters had evolved up to that point. She accepts this and admitted to it.

Sumo's writing of Tales and Nikki was too good. The players got invested in seeing them as a couple or at least having their own happy endings that fit with their personalities.

From what I've seen, Sumo's public attitude is and always has been (I don't know the dev's thoughts) that it's the ungrateful players who are at fault for the TalesxNikki feels rather than just how good he wrote them together. To put it another way; it's the Star Wars fans fault for backlash when they hated the idea of a Luke Skywalker who risked his life to save his father, the most infamous Jedi Killer in recent history and the Emporer's right-hand man, trying to kill his young nephew and then running away rather than trying to help the immature Ben.

I would love for more Sumo games. What I would hate is that Sumo doesn't learn from this and understand that if a vision is the ultimate goal then everything before that must match the imagined ending or else the ending must adapt to what's come before. And the last option CAN be done without losing the vision.

Totally agree with "Odin's eye". Think that's what disappointed a lot of people; the build up between Nikki and Tales that fizzled out into nothing( more or less). But if people didn't appreciate the rest of the game they wouldn't bother to have a opinion.

Honestly, I tend not to like games where other males than the MC are heavily involved in the sexual content, but I would play the hell out of that game. D is hilarious.
i agree, D is cool. I find the male characters in most of the games to be insufferable. D and the guy in being a dik are the only two that come to mind that i find interesting.
