To everyone who is slamming people for being critical of this VN, I have a simple old saying to relay to you and the dev "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen". When you are doing something creative like writing, art, making a game, etc., there will always be critics and those critics are entitled to their opinion. Very rarely do two people share the same exact view of a creative enterprise. Tom Clancy was turned down over three hundred times trying to get a book published. You take the criticism, use it how it can best benefit you (motivation or creative inspiration) and move forward.

Also very disapointed that there is no ending with Nikki. Almost everything leading to the end made us want to be with Nikki more.
To me this is similar to what happened with "How I met your mother". The ending was recorded at the beginning of the show, and it couldn't adapt to what happened to the characters after that. It was a let down.
This is the same for me here. The game is good, the scenes were hot, the characters beautiful. But this is incomplete as far as I am concerned.

Molly was the least interesting character in the game for me and Molly or nothing was really disappointing. Its a 6/10 for me... solid start with an unsatisfying conclusion which is a bit of a shame.

Nikki ended up happily married in mine. Went on to have a great life.

They all got happy endings mine .... except Ash cos of the whole jail thing.
Happy ending?? She ends up repeating her mothers and mothers friends mistakes. Nikki first goes into denial about her real feelings and then dates a guy that reminds her of Taylor before college, she totally represses her nature and personality to date then marry a guy that will destroy her emotionally. Even while in denial and repressed she couldn't resist Taylor and cheated on her supposed love. The flower girl ends up a lonely cam girl with a twisted obsession that money will make her happy. Even the MC has bland ending, everyone drifts out of his life and he and Molly as Naive and introverted as each other so hardly likely to be an adventurous or exciting life. I don't think there is even meant to be a happy ending just a repeat of the conforming to social expectations and repeating their parents mistakes. (Except maybe the mother actually breaking cycle to rekindle her own forbidden love from college).

I'll just repeat what Sumo said to someone else, your interpretation doesn't match the one he intended.

He meant for her to be happy. His words.

Read into it how you will but it's your theory not the one the dev laid out.

I agree, as much as I agree with the poster you replying to, (that there were a still a lot of sexual tension between Nikki and Tales). I think the game does not deserve a one star. (Just as Harry Potter does not deserve a 1 star for the reasons he mentioned.)

The game is still pretty good. The ending is still pretty satisfying. (Maybe not if you cheated on Molly ;) )
Even if you disappointed what happened between Ty and Nikki, it still a good game.

There is no way this game deserves the amount of 1 stars it is getting. This is the story the dev wanted to tell. He even warned everyone that the MC is not going to end up with Nikki. I guess people still hoped that there could have been more at the end.

Personally, I feel that they could have explored a kind of a fuck buddy sister/brother relationship (ala Michael and Erica in Girl with a dragon tattoo) in one of the endings, but it's the dev's story. The game does not deserve a 1 rating just because you did not like the ending.
I don't think there is meant to be happy ending. Just like Mother gave up her love to conform to social expectations the children do the same. (Though at least Mother got to rekindle her relationship). Is no way Nikki's marriage going to end any way but a disaster and Taylor has already had everyone but Molly drift away, two introverts with so little in common really are in for trouble.

I really liked the angle myself, siblings loving each other but kept apart by social taboo so both in denial and madly repressing as they both jump into seriously flawed relationships to escape themselves. Is quite interesting the transformation from not giving a damn about what others thought to nearly every dialogue towards end revolved about what others might think. Yes it would have been nice to have had Nikki and Taylor together and who knows what happens in sequel, maybe like there Mother they get a chance at their forbidden love later in life.

I didn't watch the crappy show but thanks for summing it up.

She STILL was in love with Tales and wanted him.
Not according to the conversation they had back home nor Sumo's intentions.

Look, i'm gonna take the devs word over fan theories, you lot do as you will.

DA22 You've been a supporter of my project and I'll forever be grateful for that, but we're going to disagree immensely on this. I think you did hit the nail on the head that your vision and my vision of Nikki don't match in this case. Nikki is not in love with Taylor. She loves him, but she does not want to spend the rest of her life married to him. We don't see any of her relationship with Marc since the story is told from Taylor's perspective. But here are the things we know about Marc: He plays football with D'Brickashaw, he's a virgin by choice, he's a nice guy, and he's good to Nikki. He is almost the male version of Molly that we never really get to meet. And he's the opposite of Nikki but that's why it works. He is intended to balance her out. The ying to her yang, if you will. I'm sorry you see that as a bad thing, but that is not the way it was intended at all.
That's from the dev, i'll take that over any theories.

Sumodeine If you're blowing up the forums like this you know you had to do something right. I will keep my 'pinions to myself. Congratulations on completing the game, and it was a fun ride, especially the x-over with WTHI at the end (the gift that keeps on giving). Best of success in your future work!

And that's a failure of Sumo's writing. It's a failure of him being able to get his message across.

It comes across as the "word of god" only has one very specific way the story and characters end up and what the story means. If that's the case then the story fails because so many players don't get it, see it or agree with it. Writing a coherent story isn't as "easy" as putting it all down and then saying 'this means exactly what I say it means.' The creator has to make sure the reader gets the message OR accept the fact their work has enough ambiguity in it that there's going to be people who have valid points that go against the creature's vision.

Truthfully, and I say this as a writer who absolutely wants their work to say what I mean it to say, the concept of "word of god" in creative works is at best neutral. You can't force someone to see your work the way you want, you can only create the work in a way that shows them your vision to the utmost best you can. And while the game is a solid piece of storytelling, it's not written tight enough for Sumo's vision to be the obvious explanation. Once again, that's not the players' faults for misinterpreting the work.

There are no bad students who can't learn, only bad teachers who can't teach it the way it's needed. Same with story writing.

MC and Molly if faithful and all other choices lead to tales being alone. Nikki gets married (some consider that a happy ending, me I think that is the saddest one:) )or three cats based upon one choice. The volleyball ladies win gold or not based upon one choice and Da Brickashaw lucks out. Well he deserved that I guess :p
Is by far saddest. she given up her love just like mother and in denial and repression so bad there is no way she not end up like mother as well. There is not a sn

Then why did Nikki drop out of college even though it then states she wants to return to complete education? The only reason is to avoid continuing sharing room which does not match hopelessly in love with other guy especially when added to fact she was not able to stop chasing Taylor despite her resolution and supposed new boyfriend.

If that was a planned happy ending then the character development and story telling are terrible.

Which version is this now ? The latest walkthrough is of 0.14, is that one still valid & not obsolete for the earlier content ? If there is more after 0.14, can we expect a walkthrough sometime soon ?
it went from v14 to v1.0 Final
No walkthru needed here
