If I remember right the last update was about one of the girls in a side story so we can see why things happen in the main game the way they did.
Yeah the last update was a side story for the twins (Ava and Olivia), showing a bit of insight in to their lives

The game has barely started... for all we know we could be fighting Thanos in the future. Give it time before saying that it needs more than this or that.

If you create a side story with a more "quantity over quality" approach, or make it subpar even so it provides mild satisfaction with little investment, i can see the point behind that side stories move.
But if you state that a single side story "took a lot of work" (and that work means actual time) whats the point?
A day has 24 hours of rendering. Being kind of Sherlock holmes here you can interprete that, if you dont move the main plot forward enough, characters dont have enough foundation to make people interested in them, and making side stories with them is kind of pointless. You may get a pass with the redhead twins, but you only use get to use that card once.

I love the game and I am normally good at being patient but god I haven't been this hyped for a single update in a very long time. Waiting even one more day is pure torture.

That is despite the ban on underage content those games got banned for.
There is only 1 type of content they don't like on here and that's it. Those games all got banned for the same reason and that's because some of the characters were children, not petite models, children. They don't like that, they banned them.
If they lose a few people it makes no difference, new peoploe sign up all the time they will be replaced in a couple of days.
