Tbh never liked all that hotwife/cheating/swinging theme (and mostly avoided it) because most of the time it was about people who lost most of affection for each other and blatantly cheat left and right or even worse (like ntr, cucking and similar stuff). Saw that this game have hotwife/cheating/swinging bars and decided to try (cause swinging is pretty fun).
Premise was good (their need to spice up their sex life are all over), part there said bars was in play was a bit strained but controlled and interesting to watch. Too bad that after that all your previous illusion of control in this story poofed and it became standard slut&manwhore adventures... as someone said a couple a pages before: Jenny mostly sleeps with any decently looking person around her (in her case even gender doesn't matter) and Jim is doing basically the same (at least he does only girls) while using his own wife to "work" on his competition.
After that "Confused" chapter appeared and second in whole story sensible talk about their (Jen and Jim) life took place, after that i got some hope that something will change (or at least player will have a choice to change something) aaand.... got that hope totally destroyed because to resolve the confusion Jenny just needed to be politely "hit on" by absolutely random guy and to remember how Giovanni fucked her. And after confusion was lifted she fucks with Giovanni again... no calls to Jim about all this, not even a thought about including him (like foursome or something). So basically her answer to herself was that she likes to be a slut. After that episode with Jess's confession and talk about her love for Jim with the guy who just wants to fuck her ass was as cringey as it was hypocritical. It's not like Jim is better, he is almost no better than Winthrop in his manipulation and abuse. So as i said before we have slut and manwhore duo as husband and wife, at that point of story only redeemable character is Claire (at least her motivation and deeds are not that fucked up as others).
It wasn't all that bad if no one talked about love and caring for each other, but it all over the story. As story's cannon looks so far (for a game called "Happy marriage") marriage part is already gone, or to be precise it is badly drawn farce. At least there is still "happy" part intact, although if things continue to escalate as it is right now "happy" be gone for both of them (Jim and Jen) because they certainly getting carried away with their new "experience".
PS. I think this game badly needs tag "kinetic novel", because player basically have no control over course of action and even if you avoided something (like Jen's sex wit taxi driver) story still unfolds as if they fucked (just one example of story being ignorant to players choices).
PPS. Tbh i had hopes that at least this game will get the story about people losing passion for each other over the course of their life and trying things outside family right, without them degrading to their primal instincts and forgetting each other in this process. It works in real life ( i can tell, from experience), yes from sell point i guess it would be easier to interest player in story about non stop roulette of fucking but it can be interesting even if we don't see a new partner for fucking every in game update.
Hey BloodyA,
I thank you for the time you spent commenting the game with so many deep-through considerations. Let me reply on them to argue my dev's point of view.
I thought this game as visual novel with player interactions aimed to introduce some "gameplay" but not intended to change drastically the story or it's evolution. The paths related to Cheating, Hotwife and Swinging are all condensed inside a storyline, the second one in the novel, because that's the story period during which the couple experiments the three different approaches to an open sexual life. It was a "gaming" choice to make the player follow the paths using choices instead of letting him simply follow three parallel paths. That storyline completed, the novel continues with different storylines about various characters evolution: there's confusion for Jenny (cause inside the couple she is the one who's wondering about the choice made), there's manly desire for success and conquest for Jim, who's trying to challenge by any means Winthorpe's company (sometimes acting no different from the badass man he is attacking), there's discoveries of deep sentiments for Claire and Jessica, each of them in different ways, there's a predator who's chasing his prey (not an easy one, although), ecc.
Being a sex/porn game, obviously, there are many sex scenes involving the characters... but they're never (at least I try to) trivial sex encounters. Every time there's an intimate or special trigger that brings the characters to have sex; the game experience is to let the player follow/influence those intimate triggers that brings or negate the sex experience.
Softly hidden behind all Jim and Jenny's actions there's always their deep love! Reading the dialogues you'll be able to find it: this is what the "Marriage" word in the title means. Whatever Jenny and Jim experience to make their life happier, their deep love sentiment is always there... then you should follow the story til the end to see...
I agree with you that perhaps Jim and Jenny should confront each other more often (although many times in the dialogues there are references to the fact that they did it, although not depicted in the game) but I struggle to keep equilibrium in the game/novel pace between visual, dialogues and sexual content.
I'm not a professional story-writer, nevertheless I try my best to make this novel credible, interesting and visually appealing.
Surely your comments, as all the others so many people had the time to write on this forum, are precious and inspiring.

These are my thoughts and the driving forces behind this visual novel, Happy Marriage, my first erotic game.
Thanks to all.

New version just crashes for me (an unexpected error has occured). Is this a save game issue? Do I need to restart?

I really don't get why the dev made his game so utterly confusing. It really makes no sense.
There's a logs.txt file in the game folder. Please send it to me so I can verify.

This game does not appear to be working as it should on Macs. When started it initializes and then says that the installation is missing some files, offering to download them from the cdn if you click the buttons marked with the red exclamation marks (all chapters have them).

If you do so it downloads the chapter and puts a ch0#-file into the Happy Marriage Publish MacOS.app/Chapters-folder but it also creates a new folder next to the .app called "Happy Marriage Publish MacOS.app\Chapters". That folder is empty and note the peculiar backslash, Macs do not use backslashes as path dividers they use forward slash, so that's looks like a sign that something is wrong.

Anyway, if you try to start the chapter you just downloaded it works, until you quit and start the game again, whereupon the game claims that the files are missing and that it needs to download said files anew.
Mate,
I really thank you for the explanation of the problem. I develope the game on a PC and I don't own a MAC, so I didn't thing forward or backslash could be a problem. I'll correct it for next release for sure.
For now you can simply copy the CHxx files the game downloads in the "Happy Marriage Publish MacOS.app/Chapters" to the "Happy Marriage Publish MacOS.app\Chapters" folder. That way the next time you start the game it should find them.
Sorry for inconvenience.

Thank you for your detailed response.
About "Being a sex/porn game, obviously, there are many sex scenes involving the characters... but they're never (at least I try to) trivial sex encounters." So far this statement is true for Jim encounters (well there is Bridgette one, but i guess it is more about getting fair and square with Albert), as for Jenny most of this triggers pure uncontrolled lust and some of it especially dubious (like taxi driver and kid near garage).
And yes there is a hints about Jenny and Jim being affectionate to each other when they home alone and stuff like that (only small hints in text, it doesn't help to lessen the gap forming between them). Still there is no depicted thoughts or reactions about each other in crucial moments or decisions they make.
Well about "there's discoveries of deep sentiments for Claire and Jessica". Claire is so far most likable and adequate character in story. There are some crazy things she does still for her it is becomes more of experiment (while Jenny embraces stuff like this as a lifestyle and Jim like means to get what he wants) and her revelations about two of them and their sex life outlook means that her definition of "love" a bit more honest than theirs. About Jessica's confession well... this part was the most cringiest one for me (come on so far Jessica is the worst one, because everyone else just want to fuck with Jenny, while Jessica wants to use Jim and Jenny's experiments to separate them and get Jenny for herself (i don't think she filmed footjob on Jim to just help him with leverage, mostly she wanted to use it to show Jenny).
Dunno about most people's definition of love, but lets say there is a "platonic love" - feeling that exclusive to really close people (family and close friends), "love" - platonic love plus strong sexual affection and lust for another person (because it involves a lot of morale and society standards, it implies pretty high level of trust for each other), and feeling of liking someone enough to spend a lot of time together and having intimacy that sometimes in confusion taken as "love". Only latter type of "love" makes you comfortable with thoughts about using someone or not being sincere with that person.
PS. Anyway sorry for being rude (if i was), but leaving aside plot and character involvement this game is great. Renders, ui, sex scenes - really great job, thank you! Will try this after story is done, because right now only person i still care about in this story is Clare and new scenes with Bridgette (well i'm a sucker for pony tails and exotic girls). Again, thank you for your great work and your response for my rant =)

How do you get invited to the yacht at all?
During the scene in the metro with Jenny, Jessica calls her saying about the invitation to the yacht by Randolph. You'll get the opening of the Storyline. But be careful not to skip. If you do so you'll miss the storyline opening.

Thanks I was able to find that scene but nothing is lit up on the map. I checked the storylines awhile back where it mentioned Randolph's yacht but now it's labelled with the red question mark

put all the chapter assets in the download. I'm not doing an extra download from within the game.
seems pretty demanding considering you are probably enjoying the game for free.. If you would have read through the thread you would have known that he only adds the updates to the monthly release and previous versions can be downloaded from his patreon.. So maybe next time read and if that's too much at least visit his patreon for your answers...

I've tried this game several times and each time its so clunky. Fastforward through text, it skips hotspots, try to follow the walkthrough and it says to select options/hotspots that I never see, add in that no matter what path you take the only difference is the amount of cg's. You both still end up cheating on each other no matter which path you take. Just don't see the appeal.
