i would 100% want someone else to continue the game. there is enough story, and character development there that they can progress and expand off that. it likely wouldn't be the story that the ghostly dev envisioned for the game, but that dev ghosted everybody a long time ago without a peep or explanation. they even came back a year+ later to say don't buy the steam version, and wasn't even considerate enough to give a reason for leaving/abandoning. i fully support someone taking this and continuing it (if the ghostly dev comes back and/or gives a statement on why they abandoned then i will fully retract my statement)
the hard part is trying to find the models he was using, Its that or...well...trying to make everything from scratch, would be...not impossible...but references would be great.

Over 2 years since spending with the Angelic Jenny, and she's still one of my very favorite LIs. :(

Missing the others too and especially Elizabeth & Aurora too.
Damn right man
She was one of the kindest girls in avn
Shame he abandoned it, should have released the ch 6 before going perma hibernation mode

Elizabeth was the teacher, but was aurora the model chick, kinda forgot abt her

Aurora was the famous actress, iirc I had to do separate paths to get Aurora & Elizabeth, their dates clashed. But it was worth it, they were both great dates.

Is it actually "legal" to remake this game or simply give it an ending without the creator? I mean... he abandoned it, but it is still his, right?

But if it is doable, I would love to help out somehow!
I highly doubt it! Even if you were remaking the whole thing with different models, the story remains his, and he would be well in his rights to DMCA anything you publish (find it highly suspicious that he did not DMCA the steam page in fact, but maybe he does not really care)
At best, you can do a Fan made spin off, like someone has made for the VN Midlife Crisis.

First of all, I think the author won't care if someone takes it and makes a continuation, because he certainly won't come back to it. I think you are safe... If it will be a properly done continuation ;)

Second, I think you could just call the project something like: "What if?" and make it an "alternative" story. A story that would simply be a continuation of the original one.

So, someone with good skills in story writing and great skills in 3D modeling should be interested to even think about it. But even if someone with the above skills says "fuck it, I'll do it", you have to think about things like:

a) Will this person or a team of people be truly capable of doing it the way it should be done, which means satisfying the fans and the original author?
b) Will this person or a team be even capable of finishing the project?

The chances are close to or equal to... 0. Sadly.

Screwing up a), b) or both could mean that you're deep in the ass as a developer of future vn's - that's a bonus.

Thanks guys, I thought so too!

It just makes me wonder as there is another post somewhere around here with people trying to replicate the characters, are they going to really try it?

I played in mod version so was able to do both in a single play through
But iirc the childhood friend name was Ashley, her and Jenny path branching happened quite early
U gotta refuse Jenny to be with her at the dorm to get the first scene with her or else if u accept Jennys proposal, that subsequently locked u out of most of her solo contents
Can't refuse Jenny, even tho Ashley was a childhood friend :HideThePain:

Is there any game where the li is Jenny lookalike?
In how to fix the future, the girl who comes to take mc to the future is Ashley lookalike for sure.

Technically still his, technically his models used are just daz studio 3d models, technically the music he used was rumored to not be freely sourced. Ive been looking into making a chapter 6. When i asked a mod about permissions of the thread on updating the game. they quoted " i don't think anyone will object if you continue an abandoned game. This is a piracy site."

So I've been reading the og devs code in renpny see how he coded things and did things and I have successfully managed to create a place holder for the game to continue on to chapter 6. Now my next phase is learning daz studio 3d and replicating his models as close as possible.

I'm just a hobbiest tho, got a real job so I'm afraid the process is slow. Please be patient. ‍♂

It all depends on the original Dev. Look at Our Fate. The Dev abandoned it. Someone tried to continue it on. The original Dev came back on here to tell the other to stop, as the original Dev "planned" to come back to it eventually. Been a few years since that happened, and still nothing new on it. It is still counted as "intellectual property" and is covered by copy-write laws on that front.
I would just say, it doesn't hurt to at least try. If this Dev has died, as some have theorized, the copy-write laws died with him or her and you should be free and clear. If the Dev is still alive, perhaps this would bring him or her out of hiding long enough to call for you to stop.
