Yeah... but no matter what you do for naming I don't see how the story around the names leads to anything but "related"

APAT is different style of game to Avalon, but it also shows Lockhearts's progression as a game developer with, IMHO, better text and images than Avalon. Not that I think Avalon is bad; it leaves many other games for dead.I didn't care for Avalon, the game or the character, but I liked Petal quite a bit, so I would call them very different games.

I thought this was going to be too vanilla to really work for me, but I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed... though I felt like Chuck was an unnecessary addition and started to kinda zone out during those bits, seemed to just be there to overly justify the situation that was happening.

If I'm properly remembering who Chuck is, suspect that he will play an integral role in getting the rest of the family to open up to the changing dynamic, possibly helping get his sister on board. He isn't simply a non sequitur, but probably part of the catalyst.
Another brilliant piece from Lockheart. Avalon was the bomb, A Petal among Thorns has gone atomic and from what I've played so far A Moment of Bliss is nuclear. I can't wait to see the three complete and together!
This was a really good and entertaining story, I think made especially good by the fact that nobody there was an unlikeable asshole (most games feature one token character who hates the MC for no fucking reason whatsoever) and Chuck is a really cool character. Although I do have some questions:
1. Does anyone actually get off on getting their dick massaged by shoes? I have a foot fetish and while I never cared much about footjob, I could at least imagine it rather pleasant. Shoejob sounds silly...
2. Why does the text at the beginning of the game say 'All characters are over 18' if Avalon is stated to be 15? There is no sexual content with her, fair enough, but those disclaimers are getting silly... (especially since you can change Petal's age to anything you want)
3. Where did the idea of people talking during sex come from? I mean, seriously, I don't remember having conversation during any of my sexual encounters (BOTH of them!) while here they seem to be having philosophical debates. And on the note, how the hell is the MC capable of talking WHILE EJACULATING? When Im cumming Im barely able to just let out a few grunts at best.

And talking can help prolong the experience: get it to the edge, ask about supper and get a reprieve; then go a bit longer, plan next weekend; get close again, change positions, talk about how nice her ass looks; after about the fourth or fifth delay, let forth a firehose rather than a water gun.

Well I can wholeheartedly say thats one of the best little renpy games i've played. Just the right amount of realism to lewd shit, great GREAT writing character and story wise, got me emotional at parts and had me really not wanting it to end. Looking forward to A Moment of Bliss immensely. Fucking incredible game. I'd give it a 9/10 and that purely just cos i wish it lasted longer. The degenerate writing of lewd scenes, the charcter writing for the mains characters, god man. Will be waiting on the sequel with bated breath.

Hey fans,
It's come to my attention that there was a misunderstanding with some of the content in A Petal Among Thorns. Petal was always meant to be portrayed as a mature young woman. This is obvious by the way she speaks and her physical features such has her large bust and full hips.
With the age-play variable, I never meant for her to be below the age of sixteen in fantasy but canonically she's always been eighteen. I tried to alter the code to make sure she couldn't be portrayed as younger than sixteen, but unfortunately I couldn't figure it out. Since I figured we were all adults and could enjoy the game however we damn well please, I decided to leave it alone and let the player decide to make it whatever they wanted.
This is a fantasy game which means there are no real people involved in any capacity except for me writing the scripts and rendering the images. People have the capacity to differentiate fantasy from reality. We've been doing it for thousands of years as storytelling has been an important part of society since cavemen started drawing art on walls.
What baffles me is that we're fine with games that have you killing police officers by the hundreds, such as in Grand Theft Auto, but depicting consensual sex with a seventeen year old in a fantasy where no real people are involved makes people lose their minds.
I don't condone sexual interactions with young persons. Sex is innately an extreme act. There's a vulnerability aspect, tons of chemicals flood the brain, there is a power dynamic, it can be confusing and scary. It's a profoundly intense experience at any age. While a young person is still developing, this can be shaping, defining, and even traumatizing. I don't condone it.
Natural selection bred men that favor young, healthy, and fertile females. The men that bed a healthy young female tended to be the ones whose lineage continued because they would more likely have healthy offspring. Our desire for a sexually mature yet still young woman is not something that just went away when we, as a society, decided it was best to experience sex at a more mature age. Even if I'm wrong on this point, my point holds. It's better to have a healthy outlet in fantasy to reduce the build up of sexual frustration that can lead to unhealthy real world behaviors.
Fantasy is the best possible solution. We men can still enjoy young women without having to involve any real persons. It seems obvious to me that if we can enjoy slaughtering thousands of people in video games without taking to the streets armed to the teeth, we should also be able to indulge in sexual fetishes and kinks that may also be inappropriate in real life.
This is not a commonly held opinion, and I have been aggressively shamed for it. I'm a small fish in a pond full of sharks and whales. My opinion doesn't matter when it comes to business. While I don't agree with censorship, I'm not willing to die on this hill.
I've added in a bonus scene to A Petal Among Thorns that takes place after the last sex scene. It's not terribly long, but it is a nice addition. I've removed the age play mechanic and any references to school that I found. Petal is eighteen, she's decided to forgo college for a few months after High School, and starting in A Moment of Bliss she'll be taking two classes in college.
I know this isn't going to be a popular decision. I don't have the capabilities to fight the system, and I certainly could be wrong in my opinion. For now, I'm rolling over and letting the big dogs win the fight so they don't utterly rip me to shreds. I'm trying to build something here, but I can't if I'm fighting a war that isn't winnable.
I adore all of my fans. I'm going to do everything I can to make my stories as incredible as I can.

I am one of your fans that really likes the age play, like really a lot
But I understand this decision totally and 100%
The evangelical sex hate crowd is very strong and scares even Steam (which isn't afraid to have incest) out of any hint of 15-17 year olds let alone more Loli-types (Not in your game but just part of the point). So the smart thing to do is to hammer that rigid 18+ armor together and wear as much of it as you can. I will still follow and play your games and should they get onto Steam with your new protective coat I will buy them. So just send me a link (well post in thread obviously) and I will be there.

EDIT: I would also request that a modder of VNs simply make a mod to put the Age Play back. This game already has an in game WT so we don't need that. Then Lockheart is free of the burden but we get what we want anyway (us Age players)

As someone who has always liked older women from a much too early age I don't entirely agree that "guys like em young" is an ingrained type of thing. but I get it. I completely disagree with rolling over. F them. Looking at this site, all the devs, and the majority of content here should illustrate how it's mostly formed and allowed independent devs to thrive by catering to the niche markets that was getting nothing from mainstream. It's why patrons are so desperate to support devs who are obviously playing them. People that want you to roll over are not interested in yours or anybody else's success, and never will be.
