In the Yuki True End, she told that Homura will reincarnate into a different person with no memories.
How will you explain that?
Mistranslation? I really love this game but it makes absolutely no sense. Half wish the creator had spent more time on the plot, because there's something interesting there but man what a mess. I remember getting the true ending and just sitting there like ???

I actually wrote my thoughts about this game a while back, but never posted it because I'm too lazy to proofread since my grammar isn't the best. And the translation of the game are pretty messy, so it's hard to discern what's a typo and what's a fact.
But I was bored, so in short:

Feel free to debate / provide your theory. After all mine is just speculation. And it's part of the fun of the game.

So what's about with the final Homura in Yuki's Ending? They're...

I was thinking it's a flashback to the point that would eventually set off the events of Abaddon, not that Homura turned into a kid again. I could get why someone would think this, because it's so sudden to place a flashback after getting that one ending and the credits.

I think all of that is possible, given the supernatural story and characters, but none of that is within certainty that it happened. I'll always default to plausibility based on what I've already known and seen from the main story. I love theorycrafting, man, but I don't like drawing conclusions so early. Been wrong plenty of times, so I've cooled off and learned to craft with the facts in mind. There's a ton of other theories I've made. Like...

I've probably made more before in this thread. They're all fun things, but none of them are within certainty. Reason being because you have other factors that throw caution. Mistranslations, messy writing, or plain coincidence by ambiguity.

This is more of a gameplay mechanic to curb difficulty and isn't plot-relevant. For starters, the characters never mention anything about how much stuff is already available. Some things don't warrant looking pass them. This is one of them. I feel like I've given someone the same example already in another thread. It's like the Resident Evil games. The protagonist can be bitten by zombies, even on the neck. Usually that much damage would kill them, but it doesn't. Game has a health system, and unless the playable character is at low health, getting bitten on the neck is just an injury. Plus, these are zombies. Characters get infected when bitten, but none of the protagonists do. Would that imply they're immune? No, they're actually not. It's just another moment of gameplay mechanics ignoring plot relevance. It's one of those "plot holes" players overlook because it's not part of the story.

Hmm... I suppose everything else I should take with a grain of salt now.
The fuck? Did the translation change in a patch or are you playing a different version of the game? I specifically remember it being a boy that fell from the sky. It being a girl actually makes zero sense in the plot because that doesn't come up anywhere else, but it being a boy factors into the plot fine.

I feel like we need a screenshot of the raw Japanese text to get to the bottom of that.

I played through this section 8 different times when CG-hunting and it always said boy. You're the first person in this thread to mention it said girl. Everyone else said boy.

Making open minded theories might be useful, when you think that something is wrong. After all, they still can be justified or debunked.

In the copy of the game from this website, and in the gameplay from the YouTube (which I have inserted), it says that the girl fell from the sky. It is what it is!

I was referring to one of the rooms on the third floor of the main hall. You can only find the note if you went through the east wing route iirc. You're thinking about another room. I checked again and there is no scream, but there is a SFX that plays and iirc it's the same one for when someone's life gets snuffed out. That's what probably what had me thinking someone could have been alive in that cabinet.

My example for Resident Evil is to showcase how story doesn't always extend to the gameplay. And that's not only fine, but it's something players may expect and not look further into. What I'm telling you is that your evidence doesn't back up your theory, because a character having the ability to isn't the same as knowing what they've been doing with that ability. If your theory was true, then there would be all sorts of questions, like how the inventory is never mentioned to be chock full of weapons, food, or items. That's a big one in a kill or be killed setting. Or how Homura remembers other information, but not that the inventory doesn't look the same. It's the same deal with the ID cards you can find at the beginning of the game. They're not canon to the story. Yuki doesn't create or leave them there. The developer has them there for the player's convenience.

Important items like keys are removed for story reasons. Having them there in the beginning would allow players to skip areas full of story content - which I wish the game would allow - and cause continuity errors in the story. If somehow, all the above was true for your Yuki theory, then what follows is a lack of foreshadowing for Yuki creating, removing, or leaving items for the player. And if there's a lack of, then I don't know how anyone could reach the correct conclusion you have without making leaps and bounds. It would be chalked up as another messy example of the devs' failing to write a cohesive plot point.

I'm setting this guy to ignore.

He's just talking past both of us. Cherry-picking our posts to only a select few counterpoints and ignoring the rest of what we say that he has no answer to, while continuing the assertions those parts rebutted. He even pulled that "You made one mistake (that may or may not be a mistake), therefore your entire post is invalid" on me earlier just so he wouldn't have to address the rest of my post to him.

And about the copy of the game from this site. This site isn't always good about keeping up with official updates. And the version here still suffers from bugs the official sites already fixed. He says his copy of the game came from this site, so we know he's not using the up-to-date version either. And he's the one that brought up mistranslation in the first place, but now that its being brought against him, he thinks translation issues are no longer a factor for consideration in open-interpretation of the canon?

Heck, a lot of the shit he's saying and questioning is perfectly addressed in the earlier discussion posts between me, Beyo, and a few others I linked earlier. I don't think he's even reading what we post.

That moment where he ignored everything in my first post just to latch onto the part about Shub-Niggurath and tell me I said Yuki is a god. And that that's somehow undeniably canon to the script. Which has zero basis in-game or in my own post.

And I'm not the game's writer. Why the fuck would I have the ability to change the canon? But then nothing else I said in the same post is canon in his interpretation despite what I say apparently being canon in his mind? Only these two specific sentences have magical canon-changing power? When those sentences are not even part of the original post? What? Did he skim and his brain fused the two sentences together? Is he confused and thinks The Decay and The Twins are one-in-the same? He read the part comparing Shub-Niggurath and The Decay, but ignored the part about comparing the twins in Dunwich Horror with the twins in this game? What???

That moment and the mistranslation issues he brought up himself somehow not applying to his interpretations are big red flags to me that he's only reading the parts of our posts he wants to read. Like how he probably only read the parts of the game he wanted to read. It's just mental gymnastics at this point.

People like this are never interested in actual discussion. Only in winning some kind of imaginary argument. He has "All interpretations are valid, but only mine are right." and "Death-of-the-Author is a fact, not a theory." mentality.

He's a brickwall. This isn't worth it. Ignored.

Cofman's been told something similar over at the Black Souls II thread, so it's not that unusual.
Oh, Black Souls. That explains everything. His type always comes from the video essay community, which the Soulsborne community has significant overlap with.

Shit like this is why I avoid the fandoms rife with video essays more than any other. Video essays don't carry themselves like interpretative conversations, but more like 100% factual, professorial lectures. With zero room for conversing, interacting, and interpreting things with the speaker. Which is exactly how he was carrying himself in these posts so far. That shit breeds this sort of mentality of "galvanizing" artistic interpretation while actually just murdering it on a pike.
