This is not reverse psychology. The main condition is: “players should not want to drive away Steph”, but this is not the case, there is: “players cannot drive away Steph”. This option doesn't work either. Steph should drive you crazy, but at the same time the player will want to fuck her, that's what it sounds like. This is not the case, Steph/Tori do not evoke such feelings. Players see Steph differently than the author, which is absolutely correct. Players evaluate events differently than the author. I don't see anything sexy about Steph's "exploits". Steph's actions do not excite, they cause contempt, and this is a completely different story.

It always came off as a weird decision to have a Sharing game were the author wants you to feel distrust right away... which in any sharing situation to be healthy you need full trust in your partner. So right off the bat the Dev wants a game about an unhealthy relationship that is already predisposed to end badly.

Those aren't two mutually exclusive things.
When talking about the original release, you are 100% correct. The devs want the player to feel distrust when in reality, the couple trusts each other entirely. Many people have complained that the MC will not fight back against Steph being bitchy or assert himself, especially when on the low-confidence path. The current release has removed most of the information that made the player distrust Steph. The devs have even made Steph more loveable and Gina less likable for the purposes of taking the argument away from the people complaining about Steph and choosing Gina. The latest version has been written to ensure that the player understands that they are working together, they are in love, and will not leave each other no matter what sexual choices the player makes, high- or low-confidence.
The dev is not aiming for a game where the couple has an unhealthy relationship. The original idea was to make the player think there was an unhealthy relationship. Due to players' complaints, most of the "clues" that led the players to believe there was an unhealthy relationship have been removed. Now, we could argue that the couple is not in the right headspace to enter into an open relationship or any aspect of the swinging lifestyle. I would argue that most people are not prepared to do so. More importantly, trying to apply real world, common sense, and hard lessons learned to a simple game where the point is to get a couple into a simple, open relationship, porn scenario will drive you insane. I think we all hoped that this game would be a much more realistic and sensible story about a mature couple entering the lifestyle. This is not that game.

Heh just had the thought what if the big secret for Steph is she was already married before and it's a long con as in "Another man's wife." refers to Steph not Tori. Makes no sense but found the idea funny.
We have certainly postulated some hilarious theories and have apparently been wrong about all of them. I laugh the most when someone gets upset because they believe "Another Man's Wife" refers to a specific person (like Tori) versus the general idea that swinging involves another man's wife.
I am looking forward to hearing the secret, regardless of what it is. Mostly because I want to see the rest of the story. It would be nice to see where this is all going!
