Well many here asked for the date to be "coming soon" or "TBA" and now that's also an issue? It is preferable to not have a date to avoid any angering delay, wouldn't you agree?
That means jack shit. That's only going to be relative to the person that says it. We aren't mind-readers. if you are afraid of releasing a date because of the past backlash you may have received, all that indicates to me is that you've failed to deliver on your past promises.
It would be a entirely different story for Arenus if we didn't have these insane amounts of lapses in time with radio silence. It seems from the consumer standpoint/patron is that Kaliyo & CO. is more so interested in the financial side of things. It's fucking ridiculous that we've only gotten updates around the time that seemed to coincide with the time of the studio losing patrons. Milking the community for all it's worth and delaying a game just for the sake of it, is nothing new.
I don't mind delays. I do mind however, being kept in the dark about a project that I am paying my hard earned money for. I don't appreciate the radio silence. Don't give me that bull crap about "They are a game development company, they've got to make money and pay their employees." That's granted. That however, doesn't excuse the predatory practice that continues to run rampant.
5 years. 5 years. Let that sink in. I played the DEMO, I really enjoyed this shit. I just can't continue to sink money into something and get nothing in return. Arenus is the whole reason that brought me to Kaliyo games, everything else they make is dogshit in comparison that what I saw in the demo.
It's really hard to support a project where you constantly get the short end of the stick. I'll take my funds somewhere to a dev that actually deserves it. If you're looking for a decent NSFW game with great art and great community to support, check out Aurelia by Mirthal and Team.
They give out weekly updates, take suggestions, interact with the community, release builds every month and actually have a roadmap and are looking pretty sound for ending the game development/full release pretty soon this year.
This is the model that Arenus needs to follow. We need transparency and communication. Without that, this project is going to continued to be stigmatized. Rightfully so. For now, Arenus is just a broken promise and great dream.
