I like how he snaps another "ready for arenus" post but still holds the date of release for himself
Well many here asked for the date to be "coming soon" or "TBA" and now that's also an issue? It is preferable to not have a date to avoid any angering delay, wouldn't you agree?

I would already be happy to encounter more devs who put their energy into work, not announcing some unrealistic shit and going into defense mode afterwards.

Those people are rare and love material for life.

That means jack shit. That's only going to be relative to the person that says it. We aren't mind-readers. if you are afraid of releasing a date because of the past backlash you may have received, all that indicates to me is that you've failed to deliver on your past promises.

It would be a entirely different story for Arenus if we didn't have these insane amounts of lapses in time with radio silence. It seems from the consumer standpoint/patron is that Kaliyo & CO. is more so interested in the financial side of things. It's fucking ridiculous that we've only gotten updates around the time that seemed to coincide with the time of the studio losing patrons. Milking the community for all it's worth and delaying a game just for the sake of it, is nothing new.

I don't mind delays. I do mind however, being kept in the dark about a project that I am paying my hard earned money for. I don't appreciate the radio silence. Don't give me that bull crap about "They are a game development company, they've got to make money and pay their employees." That's granted. That however, doesn't excuse the predatory practice that continues to run rampant.

5 years. 5 years. Let that sink in. I played the DEMO, I really enjoyed this shit. I just can't continue to sink money into something and get nothing in return. Arenus is the whole reason that brought me to Kaliyo games, everything else they make is dogshit in comparison that what I saw in the demo.

It's really hard to support a project where you constantly get the short end of the stick. I'll take my funds somewhere to a dev that actually deserves it. If you're looking for a decent NSFW game with great art and great community to support, check out Aurelia by Mirthal and Team.

They give out weekly updates, take suggestions, interact with the community, release builds every month and actually have a roadmap and are looking pretty sound for ending the game development/full release pretty soon this year.

This is the model that Arenus needs to follow. We need transparency and communication. Without that, this project is going to continued to be stigmatized. Rightfully so. For now, Arenus is just a broken promise and great dream.

Why the fuck do you keep coming back just to show your anger. Move onto a different game like you said and don't look back why is it so hard to get into people skulls that if you hate something you don't come back to IT!

I didn't really get the impression he was angry bruh, that feels more like being tired of BS or constant rehyping for years of a game you liked playing while seeking some form of positive change from the devs at the same time.
+ You only type several paragraph long responses like this by caring about the game. (If he didn't then why bother typing this)

I was replying to Experimental. That's typically how responses work.

Edit: There's a "Ignore Thread" button if you can't mentally handle responses.

Alright. I'm new to this thread and seeing a bunch of arguing, so I gotta ask: objectively, is this game really abandoned?

I'm not sure if any of you guys know, but there's this dev called Komisari (Hero's Harem Guild) who's kinda in situation. No update in 2+ years, marked as abandoned on F95zone, etc. BUT, most people still trust him because he posts solid evidences of work on discord.

Is Arvus Games something similar, or are they the type where they mooch off their patreons with no evidence of work being completed?

So, yes and no. Arvus Games claims that they're still working on it, but they've missed every release target and haven't given very concrete evidence that they're still working on it beyond a couple of screenshots and a "trust us guys, we've been working really hard and it'll be ready soon™" A lot of people on here have lost faith that they'll actually finish it given that their initial release target was like two years ago and they've consistently missed every extended deadline they've set.

They just haven't given any real proof that they're still working on it. They posted a few screenshots with their latest update, so we know that there's something there, but because they've been so silent about what work they're actually doing, we have no way of knowing if the screenshots are genuinely new things, or just something they quickly worked up to give the illusion of progress and keep the money coming in. That might be a very extreme and paranoid thing to consider, but it's not impossible.

The "abandoned" tag is mostly because by site rules (going off of what someone else said) if a game isn't finished or on-hold, then it's marked as abandoned if there isn't an actual update released for it for 18 months after the last one.

You'll probably get more knowledgeable answers, but till then, here is what i know:

The dev's main game is called Roundscape (link in OP). It's by far the largest RPGM game on this forum that i know of, with tons of content. That game has been finished years ago, but since it still had lots of potential and it was very popular, the dev team kept updating it with new content and bug fixes. Right now they are doing a final-final update nicknamed the "golden patch" where they can finally finish it's development. And since that game is the flagship, it took priority.

In the meanwhile they started other projects as well, like the finished Sunshade and the unfinished (?) Uprising, and of course, this one.

The lead dev personally wrote in this thread that they want to continue this game once they finish Roundscape and they can divert that effort into their other projects. If i understood it correctly, apparently it's a personal challenge now to them after reading the negative predictions in this thread.

I for one believe the devs since pouring over 6 years of work into a game with tangible results is not really the style of a rug-pull team. But i know that my word is cheap, since i'm in no position to financially support them, so i'm not staking money.

As far as i know this game currently doesn't have a release schedule and until that changes, guesses and believes are all we have.

Strange, I remember reading the exact opposite – that currently Arenus is their priority and that the final Roundscape update will come after Arenus is released. Considering that they are two whole years late they really should focus on Arenus first...

So much their priority that we have yet to see anything substantial regarding it in the past few months.

I've played Roundscape, it's supposed to be finished a long time ago, so it's supposed that they've only been working on Arenus for a long time.

They've missed every release deadline they set (I think the original release date was set for 2020?), they continually promise the game is coming soon™ but have not yet given any real insight as to what's happening with development

Was going to say they haven't actually missed any dates because of their policy of not giving dates, but then I went through their old posts and found this gem.

It's hard to think that they haven't either been sitting around pulling their puds, or completely rebuilt the game from the ground up in the year since.

They did put a release date on the steam store page a couple of times, which of course was quietly changed every time that date came and went. Eventually they changed to more vague release dates like earlier this year it was "Q2 2022" then it was "Q4 2022" Now I guess they finally gave up and changed it to just "coming soon"

Late October? Okay, good! Now, which year?
