I don't know why you feel so offended or disappointed about the game. Let's be clear, and realistic about the history of the game. BG was unhappy with development and history. So I decided to make major improvements and better explain the story. Now if you played the story well you would say that it is better explained, has more contents. It has an Rpg system that gives you a big plus for the development of the game. You shouldn't be angry, you should be clapping because the game whether it's getting better and it's getting more fun. Forget the old BG and focus on the new one, relax and have fun.
Well lets break it down a bit.
ART
Your new stuff is nice. I still dislike some of your model choices but I still find the asthetics enjoyable. just fix Sasha's arms in the bathroom scene since she has a curvy body and anorexic arms for some unkown reason. Personally I would think it a waste not to use some of the old photos and I would rather you did if it speeds up the development process content wise.
STORY
I will say the writing of the overall story is improved greatly. These tweaks do help quite a bit in understanding world building and the english is a massive bit bigger.
But when we get to individual characters, Things start to sort of wane a bit. Heres my viewpoint for what its worth.
The MC needs to decide what he wants to be. One minute hes loving and caring the next he's rapey. He's written to be whatever we want him to be for that scene, but it makes no contextual sense as a whole. If he progressed from some kind of Incel to a Alpha Dom that would be great, but right now he is all over the place in the story.
The MC and Sophie: This is rushed WAAAAYYYY too fast. I mean holy crap too fast. In love? the story cant decide if they are in a mutually beneficial relationship or madly in love. Sophie is a great potential character to be his guide, and she does this well so far. but the intimacy here needs to be a slow burn. Make that relationship grow into something more meaningful. I really like sohpie as a character and each iteration of the game has developed her character further to my liking. Its a shame she gets so rushed through what should be a major story arc in the game.
The other girls I know your reworking the story. Take you time and build that slow burn IMO. They are pretty well thought out characters but it would be nice to see them hanging around a bit more like they used to. It would make the world a bit more immersive if you see the girls doing stuff even if they arent really availible for romance.
Which brings me to the last little bit on characters. We have all these girls that tell us we cant get what we want unless we get X stat to Y variable. Ok. No Problem. But unfortunately you didnt bring in the payoff. If a player gets 150 popularity let him massage the girls ass, not "fuck you bitch im here for lunch." It may work for the MC, but remember the Player is the one playing and needs a reward. If you don't have one. Tell us it's not availible in the game so we know not to grind that out.
ENERGY AND MONEY
Ok so the money one I actually like, even when it bones me hard. I started the game in the hole and I didn't cheat myself any money. It can be pretty rewarding. Probably some minor tweaks here and there as the game goes and it will improve.
energy however is practically unneccessary. You have a limited number of actions per day and further limiting it by a depleting an energy bar that you have to hunt down to check is tedious and redundant. Pick one but not both. Honestly the day action limitations should be enough and the player is familiar with this system already. Being unique for the sake of Uniqueness isn't a good design choice and limitations are not meant to bring fun but to hinder it going into easy more. (something porn games really dont need to worry about anyways)
GAME MECHANICS
your RPG system is....well to put it nicely not that great. It makes no sense here. You are on an island with superior technology and I'm going to a cave to fight spiders and snakes to pick up what amounts to construction equipment? Pretty sure this isnt how the other families built their skyscrapers and I don't think the girls will be impressed with the treehouse clubhouse I'm going to build with my two hands in comparison. The combat is meh, the animations feel like Mortal Kombat 1, and I'm just really drowning Sophie in potions or game overing.
Try making it make more sense really. Why not fight baddies that make actual sense to the story? rival families. You can make up any number of minor ones that think the MC is easy prey and it would be much more interesting and immersive. The proposed crafting system isn't well placed here. try something more economical based. He should be focused on money, power, and dominance so building stuff is a fun idea but doesnt really fit at all.
This is really the wrong engine to make an RPG out of for killing spiders and slimes. RPGM does that perfectly without effort. Its not a bad idea, it just needs so better more thought out...well everything. Sorry. But it really does.
I know you think of this place as a pirate site but realistically this is where we go to find new games to support or play. before the zone you had the chans which is a mess to try and get through. And discussing games on on specific patreons is equally a mess. Especially now that so many have other means of making income and some start with no income model at all. This place really is the best place to talk games of this kind with like minded people. So please try to keep that in mind when you say things like "if you don't like it don't play it." these people are potentially patreons even if most are just here for free games.
As for why so many of us are disappointed.....well....You kinda burned some of us who were supporting you. I followed your game since you started at .01 and I thought it had a lot of merit. We saw you progress, then you went on hiatus, came back with a newer updated version that was well meh then again with a whole new UI, and here you are again after a year long hiatus for the same reasons. and we now have less progressive content than previous and the development is now on its 3rd year. When you compare it to games that development has started after, has better content and have completed or near completion, it doesn't take much to figure out why people are not thrilled with the state of development.
What you do with that bit of information is entirely up to you of course. Truth be told I would hate to see a game I once invested in never be completed, but I can't sanely invest in again until I see some real progress in the game besides adding in code I grabbed from Lemma Soft Forums (not knocking LemmaSoft, its a great place to learn Ren'Py)
Finally remember the words of Tommy Versetti in GTA: Vice City "keep the cameras pointed at the poontang" If your game isn't doing that, fix it to where it is. The game was meant for fapping above all else so keep the players eyes on that goal without distractions.
