Or Zoey calls Fuckface in a panic while Fuckface is hanging out with Jill, so Jill offers to drive Fuckface to the hospital. Don't need any mental gymnastics to get Jill to the hospital whoever is ill/injured.
MC still cares for Zoey and he probably holds Zoey's mother in high regard as well, so he goes visit them at the hospital and his girlfriend goes with him, completely believable imo. Also, this scene might not be exclusive to Jill, we might get a version of this event for every LI
Anything is viable, especially in a porn game.

But Zoey has just been introduced, it seems to me the right move to make us love her even more to enter the story head-on by immediately involving us in a thousand-decibel drama.

Then not enough Zoey we throw in Jill, who is now a side girl for 4 out of 5 players.

just the scene everyone has been waiting for....

Or as someone else pointed out, it's a route to get Zoey back into the main story while building sympathy for those who dislike her due to the interlude. Even when not on Jill path you are still friends with her, that's unavoidable, like being friends with Maya, Josy and Sage. Unfortunately there's a limited cast of characters so even when you decide not to pursue relationships with characters they are still involved with Fuckface on a friendly level, or it's hard to build plot points.

And it's just from that perspective in my opinion it's a misconception.

first you have to build the empathic bond, and then I can accept being involved in her problems

otherwise the effect is the opposite and Zoey ends up being perceived even more as ballast

and also this unwavering friendship between MC and the LIs is not exactly working out so well

Agree, it will be Maya 2.0 where we are unwilling participants in her woes. That won't be a problem for players like me, that we are already sympathetic to the smurf, but for the ones that loathed the Interlude, or Zoey herself, being strong-armed is not the way to getting to like her. I can guarantee it will lead to even more frustration.

I don't think so...

first of all, it wouldn't explain Jill's presence (it seems to me too complicated for Jill to help out financially or otherwise as high-level acquaintances, too many missing dialogues: Zoey telling MC, MC telling Jill, Jill telling whoever, Jill telling MC, MC telling Zoey), then Zoey still has yet to arrive, she can't bring such drama already

simply Zoey is a selfish child who when her mother lost her own mother, she thought it best to go away on a sabbatical trip
Yea I agree. Doesn't seem to make much sense that everything lead up to that is going to be packed in one episode. Makes even less sense if that scene happens regardless of whether you're on Jill's path. If Jill's just a friend then she's basically going with you to the hospital for your former girlfriend's mom who she has no real connection to, can't do much to help at this point (even with money, a scene like "the operation is going to be expensive" isn't going to happen at the initial outset), barely *hangs out with the MC outside of her route, barely interacts with the rest of the main cast, and at that point has probably only exchanged introductions with Zoey. What I'm saying is "Please, don't be about Zoey. I like the character but I just don't care." Lol.

Also, I don't think she's that selfish for someone her age. What would Zoey do? Put her life on hold just to sit around at home and comfort her mom? For how long? It's not like her mom's struggling financially or looks like she needs any kind of help. Zoey's mom also has a husband? boyfriend?(can't be bothered to remember). She has her own life to live and her grandma dying is shown to be the catalyst for her short story.

"Thinning" in this case would indicate a negative connotation meaning she looks "weaker" or "unhealthy". Usually shock or concern will accompany it. "Slimmer" would have a more healthy connotation. Still, it's not like it's a clear indication of anything dire in someone's eyes but is often used as cliche foreshadowing, especially if it's only "a bit thinner"which could mean anything or nothing at all. In fact, it seems more like it shows that Zoey cares about her mom and shows concern over her well-being. Otherwise, she wouldn't have even noticed.

a general characteristic of AVNs is to have characters with very little empathy

if we don't like the expression selfish we can use "self-centered," which is just a more polite way of saying the same thing, though.

I honestly have no other way of judging the request she makes to MC to follow her and the fact that even once she gives up surfing (at the first lesson in the water) she still stays in San Diego as long as her beloved grandmother's money allows her to do so

Yeah, Zoey does come across a bit selfish, especially considering that they (her and the MC) grew up together and probably did all their firsts together. She upped sticks pretty quick when she lost her nan, but perhaps that was her way of coping? When she heads home, though, it does appear that she misses the MC.

I always pictured her re-entering the story in a way that has her being dropped off by MCs Dad and she finds her way to the library where you've got MC revising with Josy and Maya, Jill chatting to Bella, Sage in the corner and Quinn lurking between the shelves. It ends with MC and Zoey embracing each other while the others look on in confusion...

I'm inclined towards the idea that the hospital visit may be related to the pregnancy test and it may be more of Dr's surgery or clinic.

Eh, I guess. It's hard to remember the details sometimes for the Interlude since I didn't really care about it. Point is, I don't dislike the character but I just don't want ep 9 to be all about her. Otherwise, it's just like an extension of the Interlude.

:D yeah I know, I did see that. Don't know if that's the first time they meet or a later scene though.
Definitely looks like the first time. Hard to imagine that they'd see other then she'd just be wandering around campus until he's all alone ...
My money's on: Dinner with the Burkes is going to end abruptly. MC goes back to campus. Then they meet.
She'll probably be there because MC's dad told her he was there and she''ll be all like "Ok, bet I'm gonna head over right now". Which is also why he decided to call instead of just shooting a quick text that would've just been "Hey son, she's back yo"
