Yeah that's the whole point, no one WILL ever convince you. If you had a more introspective outlook that might bother you.
Have you ever asked yourself why you get so upset when I or anybody else criticizes your precious?
Someone was complaining about the worst kind of mainstream soulless drivel? If someone had a more introspective perspective they might...

Oh fuck it, what's the point. More anal with Quinn, please!

The whole point of my criticism of this game, and it's creator, is that it's not a good game, it's just a really well marketed one. That makes BaDIK the AVN equivalent of the worst kind of mainstream drivel, no creativity, no depth, no soul.
You say it like it's a fact that everyone else is just too oblivious to understand, when really it's just your opinion. I's just a simple case that this game doesn't appeal to you as much as other games you prefer.

Everyone has different tastes, but this game has struck such a chord with so many people, it's just sheer arrogance to sit there and say, "it's not a good game" and "BaDIK the AVN equivalent of the worst kind of mainstream drivel".

In my opinion, I haven't played a game here that's better:
  • I started my AVN exposure with Summertime Sage and I loved it,
  • Then I discovered A Town Uncovered when looking for similar games and, although the game's art is sub standard and the game is far from complete, I loved the characterisations (the relationship with the teacher was written so genuinely),
  • Then I found "The Headmaster", a completely different game, but a must for anyone with a spanking fetish (a total fucking must),
  • Then there was Taffy Tales, which I enjoyed (quite a unique one with the mc's alter ego),
  • I also gave Milfy City a go (before I found out the dude had "abandoned" it long ago). I liked the relationship development (except for the whole rape-your-family-in-their-sleep thing, but I could never go back and play it again, it's boring now.
At that point, Summertime Sage still had my love, it was my first and I was still looking for something like that (The Headmaster is a solid "side bitch" though, I can't say enough, if you are into spanking you must give that game a go).

Then I stumbled on to Being a DIK. This game destroyed all other games for me. The character renders are very good, but more importantly for me, they come off the page, their personas are so present, so likeable, that I actually give a shit about some pixels on my screen.

The story is very compelling. I'm not saying it's a masterful story, it's really quite a simple tale, but enough is happening (and the way it's being delivered) that it keeps us here, musing over the game, for months between the updates.

Unlike any other game, the minute I finished playing it, I started playing it again. I couldn't get enough. I even started reading this thread and began posting (initially to try to convince some dumbasses that Jill wasn't the mc's aunt...).

I've tried other similar games since this one:
  • Acting Lessons - For all the hype, it did nothing for me and ended up losing interest eventually (completed it but didn't care),
  • A.O.A - Got bored of that eventually,
  • Frosh Life - got put on hold too soon, quite enjoyed that one,
  • Melody - Had to fast forward in the end, found the game slowly evolved into boring waffle,
  • University of Problems - Enjoyed it for a while but can't be bothered with the latest update,
  • WVM - Lost interest very quickly.
And even other well received games haven't impressed me like this game:
  • City of Broken Dreamers - It's a good game but I wouldn't care if I never played the next episode or not,
  • Depraved Awakening - Played it through to the end but didn't care about any of the characters,
  • Heavy Five - Became boring after a while, basically I don't care about any of the characters,
  • Leap of Faith - Makes we want to puke how the women's entire existence seems just to be to love the mc, can't even be bothered with the latest update,
  • Once in a Lifetime - Was fun, good intriguing story, but I'm not likely to play it again,
  • Pale Carnations - Not sure why I like this game, it's too unpleasant for my tastes, maybe I don't know myself as well as I thought :sneaky:,
  • Rebirth - Started off ok, but it's just dragging on and the characters are mostly 2-dimentional and the music is horrendous!
  • What a Legend - Really cliched humour, minuscule updates and the mc is mostly pathetic. I can't understand why this is such a favourite.
In comparison, I fucking love BaDIK. I can't wait for the next update and I know I'm gonna binge on it the second it drops here. I'll probably even start the entire game again when the next episode arrives because I know I'll enjoy it that much.

The fact that BaDIK has so many likeable (or "hateable") characters just goes to show how well it's been created:
  • Anthony: The likeable douche who's an "enemy" but even he doesn't see the point in that.
  • Arieth: The crazy nympho; she hardly says anything in the game, but when she does, it's always gold. She's a legend for just how stupid she is.
  • Ashley: The shy girl you want for your friend but also want for yourself.
  • Burke: We all hate him and yet he's done nothing bad to the mc (except b a lousy husband to Jade), how many conspiracy theories is he wrapped up in?
  • Caleb: The mountain we want to conquer (ok, hope that didn't come out wrong)
  • Camila: Super sexy girl who is there to remind us this is a porno, and we love her for it!
  • Cathy: The shy, late bloomer teacher, she may not look hot but we care about her future at B&R
  • Chad: A complicated character. Not because he's gay, but because he was pitted as the enemy, the mc even stole his girlfriend, but he could become an ally in future.
  • Dawe: Total moronic asshole that we love to hate (and beat up).
  • Derek: What's there to say about this guy, almost everyone loves him and his antics
  • Elena: She's not just the nympho girlfriend of John Boy (with their kinky underwear attitude), she could also be starting to become a significant character in the HOTs hierarchy.
  • Envy/Nicole: the ultimate MILF. The few scenes with her in this game have been more satisfying than all the MILF characters I've come across in other games.
  • Heather: Total bitch, everyone wants to fuck her though, just to fuck with Tommy.
  • Isabella: What on earth can I say to sum up this bombshell!?
  • Jacob: The other bro, to offset Derek's insanity.
  • Jade: Every schoolteacher fetish rolled up into the perfect specimen.
  • Jill: The ultimate virgin. A total fan favourite.
  • Josy: The perfect girl next door, sadly probably the most underdeveloped LI, but lets hope she gets more character development soon. In spite of that she still draws a lot of attention from fans.
  • Karen: How did such a marginal character make such an impression?
  • Lily: What started off as a blatant Harley Quinn has turned into a very interesting character.
  • Magnar: He's a cliché for sure, but who else are we gonna have to host the DnG games?
  • Maya: The damsel in distress. You either love her or hate her. She's probably more polarising than Quinn!
  • Melanie: She hardly has much to do with the story (other than her involvement in the Chad arc) but she stands out in every scene she's in.
  • Nick: Just a quiet background character who could be harbouring a game changing secret.
  • Neil: A wholesome parental figure in a genre filled with incestuous mothers and dead fathers. Neil is a great guy.
  • Patrick: Either you hate him or you hate him. For a character that's had no chance to defend himself, the hatred is already entrenched!
  • Quinn: We know she's bad for us, but we want her anyway.
  • Riona: What is it about her that endears her to so many. She's a tragedy waiting to happen!
  • Rusty: The friendly president of the DIKs. We don't even have all that much to do with him, but he's likeable all the same (hell people have been paring him up with Jill for ages).
  • Sage: Total sexbomb. Of course there's more to her than just sex, but the sex is so much fun!
  • Sally: Maybe because she seems untouchable, but this feisty character sure has her share of fans.
  • Sandy: OK, maybe I'm on my own with this one... :(
  • Sarah: She's not even pretty, but there's definitely something about her.
  • Steve: Another asshole character that's memorable even though he's long gone.
  • Tommy: An angry fucker that is slowly becoming the mc's friend (don't trust him though)
  • Tybalt: This guy we love to loathe. Sure we can't take him seriously, but we can still hate his guts!
  • Vinny: His presence is there even though we've never met him. Big things are instore for this dude I'm sure.
There are more characters than that, but these are the ones that stand out to me. How many games or even tv series can boast such a list of enjoyable or interesting characters? Most games here have a handful of characters, and they suck.

The effort, the humour, the nuance, the drama, the characters, the personalities, the sex scenes, the music, the pace. It all rolls together to make an extremely enjoyable game. It's common to see a first time poster to post on this thread, "Best game ever", because they fucking loved it.

But you don't like it. That's ok. Just letting you know, your opinion is wrong. But, in your own words, "no one WILL ever convince you. If you had a more introspective outlook that might bother you."

I think that you should start a fandom on this :p Your post is really informative...But wait better don't do it :ROFLMAO:

And If you aren't crazy for sexual content and are okay without it, I would really recommend you to play Oathbreaker. It is literally a gem in my eyes, it's story is super good. And the funny thing is that DavDR recommended me to play this, and I don't regret playing it. Maybe you would like it or maybe not but it's worth a try.

I'd give it a go, but it's a female protagonist. I just find no interest as playing a female character in games.

" I just don't think it's quite as large and omnipresent a flaw as you do."

No you wouldn't, you guys have bought this game hook, line, and sinker. And if that's what you like, more power to you.

The whole point of my criticism of this game, and it's creator, is that it's not a good game, it's just a really well marketed one. That makes BaDIK the AVN equivalent of the worst kind of mainstream drivel, no creativity, no depth, no soul.
If you say that, then you probably have no idea how difficult it is to develop such a game. Every computer game has certain plot flaws. Most of them are caused by specialities of development. Badik is a very big game with a lot of variables and ramifications. The developer should make sure that all this works. The game has a lot of mini-games, a lot of complex scenes and excellent renderers. It is impossible to create a game that everyone would like. I know python a little, and I can imagine how much monotonous and boring work with the code is.
Of course, there are disadvantages in the game. There are technical and there are plot ones. But nevertheless, this is a great game. She is so influential that she has already had imitators (for example, the University of Problems). And it means a lot. What does a game without a soul mean? This is very subjective. For someone there is a soul in Skyrim, and for someone it is a very boring and monotonous game.

Oh man I just caught up with this game.

First... A+ on the music selection, I'm even looking up 2 of the bands other music as a result of this game!
Second, wonderful visuals, and animations as well. Relatively bug-free, just at times a little confusing when navigating around a house because it's easy to not see that there's another area / hallway based on how the arrows turn you around and you become disoriented.

I'm on the Josy/Maya path, with Sage, and Jill keeps hanging around even though I've tried to end her story line multiple times. Quinn is a cunt, but I am hoping to develop her story more as I restart the game to be more of a Dik and see where it takes me. Maybe I won't have to deal with Jill's BS (and Bella's judgmental ass as well?) if I stop doing a split Dik-Chick route.

My preferred end game scenario, in order, but it's not like DPC will even see this:
  1. Josy & Maya throuple
  2. Sage solo
  3. Josy solo if Maya somehow ends offing herself in some fashion
  4. Lily? Is she even a possibility? I just F'd her at the HOTs house-party when I brought her tequila.
  5. Riona? Is she even a possibility? She seems like she has a great story to tell, if she could get off the pot for just a few moments.
Until then I'm happy to be a FWB with Sage and Duo with Lily, assuming those further events don't mess up my preferred scenario of a throuple.

PS - why am I missing a scene of banging Sarah? I gotta replay to get a chance with her.

Same, I'm wanting to start it over again to hit missing renders and try a different story angle.
Sarah would totally be my slice of pie IRL. Not out of my league like Jill/Sage would be; little bit slutty, would clean up really nice for the parents.

  • Neil: A wholesome parental figure in a genre filled with incestuous mothers and dead fathers. Neil is a great guy.
In my opinion DPC got inspiration for Neil from Noah (Jim's dad from American Pie). Everything about them looks very similar, especially that hilariously awkward speeches.

  • Tommy: An angry fucker that is slowly becoming the mc's friend (don't trust him though)

See, how long did it take you to write all of that? If my opinions upset you so much why don't you just ignore them?

" I just don't think it's quite as large and omnipresent a flaw as you do."

No you wouldn't, you guys have bought this game hook, line, and sinker. And if that's what you like, more power to you.

The whole point of my criticism of this game, and it's creator, is that it's not a good game, it's just a really well marketed one. That makes BaDIK the AVN equivalent of the worst kind of mainstream drivel, no creativity, no depth, no soul.
If this isn't a good game, what is the standard of good? How many games at one time can be considered good?

It's like saying JF Caron isn't a good strongman because he's never won World's Strongest Man.
