What if Tybalt picked "dinner at fancy restaurant" for third and final date and that preview is Bella and Ass Man trying to ruin Tybalt's plan. Later that night the blackmail arc is concluded (my guess is similar with popular opinion here, which is counter blackmail) and after that MC must choose whether to take Bella home for some pussy rust removal or to bring Jill to the DIK mansion for some good ol fashioned deflowering and that choice will forever close one of their route, in true spirit of the episode's title: Crossroads.

Surely DPC can't be that cruel right? :KEK:
Interesting. But at least that would give Bella and MC and good excuse for being together at the restaurant. Sure beats Jill and Tybalt or Jill and Jonathan walking in and being completely surprised to see Bella and MC sitting there having a romantic dinner.
Honestly, this has been my fear all along with the upcoming date. Someone..be it Jill, Nicole, Jade or take your pick (or even an antagonist like Burke)..will walk in and discover the two love birds, thus killing another one of your "relationships." That is certainly DPC's style.
Out of all the spots in the city to run into a B&R acquaintance, it just has to happen at the one time and place Bella and MC are visiting for their date. :cautious:

To be fair there are multiple things that hint to this. At that point MC had a line of "thoughts" that said something to the extent of "if I knew back then what I know now I would have probably ran away". That line always stuck with me even as I was fooling around with Bella on some occasions, just because there wasn't a "prophetic" line like that before and none after that, so it was probably important.
The MC said, "...I would never have kissed her that night. I would have called for help." I always assumed he meant "call for help" as in help for Bella for her mental health, but maybe he meant "call for help" as in, "Police?! There's a crazy woman named Bella trying to kill me!" :)

Sure, but that's what makes it a mediocre game. The fact that anything COULD happen doesn't justify any random thing that happens. Real life may be a chaotic mess, but the art of storytelling is to pull order out of that chaos. That's the difference between telling a story and just relating a bunch of things that happened. AL did the latter, IMHO.

I've defended the way Bella's path ends if she finds Cathy's panties, because while that particular outcome was unexpected, to me it's logical that Bella would see that particular act as indicative of the MC not taking her relationship seriously. I'd be a lot less tolerant if Bella called it off because she learned the MC offered to help Maya... much less if KRJ just killed Bella because Quinn's off-brand drugs gave her a bad trip.

Besides, it's still a bait and switch. AL wasn't portrayed as a game about how our choices are inconsequential in the face of an uncaring random universe, yet that's largely what it becomes. The focus of the final quarter of the game isn't on the MC putting his life back together, it's wallowing in how miserable his life is in the wake of the infamous fire. Any healing is secondary and out of our control.

Frankly, I think it's rather shameless the way AL uses the death of Meghan/Melissa as a crutch to cover for the barebones conclusion. If it worked for you, that's fine. But it definitely did not work for me, even as a deliberately bittersweet ending.
I thought Cathy was lonely and could use the attention foolishly not realizing at what cost that could come to because I wasn't factoring in at the time that this could seriously be insulting. As stupid as it sounds, I guess you could say I was trying to look out for her? I also didn't expect her to leave her panties in the car. (lol) Either way, while it is right that this could be seen as MC not taking the relationship seriously, on my end it wasn't exactly intentional that I made my MC didn't take it seriously because my outlook on it wasn't "blowjob in Bella's car huehue". The point is, it was foolish judgement rather than intentionally not taking the relationship seriously, had I been in a more better mind at the time, I probably wouldn't have made the choice. We all do completely dumbass, nonsensical things from time to time.

On a side note, I think I initially misunderstood what this game was going for and came into it expecting too much freedom with my own personality as opposed to looking at it as if I'm the catalyst for MC'S personality and not the other way around. Bella's path being ruined for me killed the entire game for me, and I'd go as far to say that it devastated me pretty hard. MC took it far better than I did...lol. While I have nobody to blame but myself, she and Jill are really the only ones I'd realistically be with in the entire game. Also, redoing the game and not choosing Cathy won't create the same passion and fire, it'd be boring so I just accepted the consequences and moved on.

I don't really understand the distinction... in the end the difference is only the age of the protagonist, because moments in which we are forced to moments of mental confusion, completely independent from our direct and indirect choices are not lacking even in BADIK (a boy who has always been bullied and thinks about dropping out of school because his roommate doesn't give him a cuddle, then he runs away in the middle of the night when faced with sentimental difficulties, suddenly he realizes that it's not okay for him to be fuckbuddy... etc etc)

you're right, definitely, it's alienating the whole post-fire AL part if you didn't care about the one left to burn, but I don't think the fourth chapter of BADIK for those not interested in Maya and Josy was all that much better an experience, all that much more engaging...

the big move, the big change in DPC is simply having rejuvenated the MC so that any excess is justified anyway?

this is what we all hope, but on Quinn, Riona (but also Bella and in part the trouple) the omens are not very happy, that cocaine will end up somewhere

and DPC with these fan expectations plays a lot with it, I don't think the axe in Bella's garage is random....
I'm gonna bury the hatchet with the MC's wimpy moments; whether he's a DIK or a Chick, he's really a sensitive guy. Even as a DIK, rough around the edges and all that, he's still introspective and cares about others and probably just thinks too much.

Also, the guy had one sexual relationship in life before going to college, and he didn't even have strong feelings for the Zoey, she was just some chick he was kicking around with.

Then he goes to college where girls are throwing themselves at him, he's having the time of his life, but then he starts getting feelings for these two girls and shit turns upside down and he's hurt.

Feelings can be cunts some times. Could he have handled it differently? Absofuckinglutely! But he fucked up and maybe learned some shit.

Then he's enjoying fucking this hot, fun babe, Sage, behind her boyfriend's back. Suddenly the situation changes and she's now available at the same time as he's starting to seriously like her!

What if he's timed this shit wrong and she just using him to get over her heartbreak and then shit gets awkward? He panics and turns her down, and pretty much every last motherfucking one of us wanted to punch him in the face. Should he have handled it differently? Of course the dumb cunt could have. But he didn't.

We all fuck up some times, the mc's entitled to handle shit poorly from time-to-time.

But the most unforgivable moment was when he left Nicole and Sandy at the bar after looking at Jill's photo.

Hmm:
  • He fucking melts down 'cause he feels hurt when Maya and Josy (two girl's he's pretty much fucking) turn out to be a couple...
  • He cockblocks himself with Sage when she's finally available and throwing herself at him...
  • He turns down a threesome with Nicole and Sandy (which is arguable the hottest threesome in the game) after looking at a rat faced shot of Jill...
You know what? I'm starting to see a pattern. The mc is actually a fucking idiot!

Now regarding the pending doom looming over the game, I could live with an overdose and recovery situation, like the Mia Wallace scene in Pulp Fiction, where everyone is shitting themselves but some dude has an adrenaline shot in his back pocket to save the day.

I'd hate it if a non-LI character becomes collateral damage though, because so many of the non-LI's are really great characters: Arieth, Ashley, Camila, Cathy, Elena, Heather, Jade, Lily, Mel, Mona, Nicole, Quinn, Riona, Sally, Sarah...

It's bad enough that Mona and Cathy have left, but at least they didn't die!

I reckon you've nailed it as to the reason why they are there. Sure Bella wants to date the mc, but they are probably there to sabotage Jill's final date and Bella is pissed.

Wasn't she his best (and only) friend? I'm pretty sure she was kind of important.
Good friends, sure, but he didn't even think of her as his girlfriend. When she left it came across like a friend going away rather than the love of his life leaving.

I see what you're trying to say but I still think this was a retarded way to do it. With suddenly pulling away our control over the situation and giving us no choice when he does for every other little pointless thing.

Erm, no he didn't... he never got that polaroid with me. And I would hate myself if I missed that 3-some. One of the highlights of this game so far. I'm just a little mad that Sandy seems to stay a one-time thing. I wanna keep her.

It's bad enough that Mona and Cathy have left,
Yeah about that... Mona leaving looked a little ominous. Or a lot. With the hood up, getting escorted by someone. Burke deleting her file. Something seemed off about that. I wonder if she actually played a bigger role. We still don't know who snapped and leaked that picture of Cathy either.

Apart from the fact that DPC has a story he wants to tell and needs to provides players with choices that work within his story framework, whenever I find myself flummoxed over the MC's (or Maya's or Josy's, etc.) actions, I remind myself that he is supposed to be 18/19 years old. He's a dumb kid, by definition. When I think back on my first couple of years of college, I realize now how stupid and immature I was. I even failed to recognize a few opportunities for sex because I was too inexperienced to realize I was being flirted with or hit on or too apprehensive or insecure to react. If I could go back with what I know today, I'd have a lot more fun and adventure and a lot less hurt feelings and confusion.

Looking at the photo of Jill killed his boner so the last one could be explained
but the other two...
I have to agree with shazba on this

It's been a while since I checked this thread. Reading through some of the stuff here makes me think that either I missed an update (which I didn't), I've gone down a WAY different path than everyone else, I'm really unobservant, or just clueless and stupid. I'm kind of thinking it's the last one

I don't remember/recognize half the things people are referencing about major characters and major relationships and major drama.

I guess I need to go make sure I've actually played through to the end of the current update (wouldn't be the first time I've done that ). I probably updated several games at the same time and didn't play through all the updates

Don't feel too bad about it. On the one hand you've got a bunch of OCD types that have played the game dozens of times, going so far as to document/screenshot pretty much every conversation and scene in the game. And on the other you have a few individuals that live inside some sort of fever dream and feel compelled to document their wild theories at length here on an almost daily basis.

And this is all need for never play Jill path. I love Nicole to much to reject her.

Yeah, I've come to realize I don't pay as much attention to my own life as some people do to these games
But, in all fairness, I'm a lot more boring ;) an none of the girls are as hot (don't tell my wife I said that )
