I can see why you'd feel that way if you don't like Zoey. And that's perfectly cool with me. I don't think I'd pick Zoey over my preferred LI neither.

But from a more objective perspective, the paring down has ALREADY started when you had to choose near the end of Episode 8. If you have chosen one of the main LI routes, any future sex with others make MC a cheater and break the chosen relationship. In other words, you are pretty much locked in to a path if you want a happy ending. But bringing Zoey back in at this point is a way to re-inject a valid choice back - to go with the new LI or go back to the puppy love?

You're quite right, although DPC is not likely to ever show it. He is smart enough to know, as others have stated above, the patrons would flip the fuck out if their waifu is shown rubbing up on some other male. Even if they temporarily reject said waifu in a playthrough to unlock some other LI's content, they couldn't bear the thought of it still being in game. You see those reactions all of the time.

It is ridiculous though when you think about it. Take Sage for example, if she is rejected by MC there is no way she wouldn't immediately hook up with some other stunt cock. Bella and Jill I can understand because they are both reluctant lovers. M&J already have each other so no issue there either...and a lot of people want to see the lez stuff.

The farther down the list you go in terms of secondary and tertiary characters, the less of an issue if they have a suitor other than MC. My rule has always been, if I'm not actively pursuing a character then I don't bother about what they get up to. If they are my active target then no challengers will be tolerated.

You are right, but then you run into the argument that is wasted development time and resources for scenes with the LI that they already didn't care and rejected. You can't win against this types of people, they are many and loud. In my opinion this is one of the reasons, even if minor, that is holding VN stories in mediocrity and roll your eyes territory, because any attempt at immersion and increased realism is butting heads with fetishes and their unhinged activists.

As long as no big time dev decides to say fuck it and push the limit and then maybe more will follow, you will always run into nonsensical situations like 'virgin prostitutes'.

Sage is a bit less certain, but she's ready to graduate, so maybe she'll have a last fling with Jacob before she moves on.

Yes. There are several interactions between Rusty and Jill in the game, so probably at some stage they will really start dating. The same goes for Sage and Chad. It seems to me that the truth about Chad has much longer-term consequences. After all, the relationship between Troy and Miracle is not so strong. I do not rule out that Chad may meet Sage again after he admits that he is gay.

I was talking about an indirect consequence on which the player has no control once he has made the choice not to engage with a love interest. This results in being trapped in an unanticipated and uncomfortable situation. I would be pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong when the first effects of the commitment will be experienced. Maybe Jill will eventually succumb to Tybalt's charm. Maybe Sage will agree to a three-way relationship with Chad and Troy. And maybe Bella will find in Derek the perfect partner.

MC is classic Marty Sue. I would call him James Bond from the AVN world. After all, this game is compensation for what the players don't have in real life (basically, maybe one of the players, like Tremolo, fucks three chicks a night).The player wants to try himself the most desirable, the sexiest, the most beloved.
But on the other hand, he really lacks an opponent. Chad and Troy gave a little rivalry, but they were quickly exposed. Chad is just gay, which sounds like a joke, and Tybalt is just a clown. The new rivalry is apparently a rivalry between Tommy and MC for informal leadership.
