That depends on you. I usually add 4-5. Mostly mix of deeper and brighter colours. Maybe add Red,Blue,Yellow,Green. I usually add those four along with usual black. Because text sometimes tend to get mixed with brighter backgrounds. It happens mainly with honey select and illusion a lot. So just multiple options to avoid that incase it happens. And add max outline width of 5. Then contrast text will not be required at all. In general contrast text looks bad and hogs lot of the screen.I generally avoid adding shading.

Will take a look at how this can be done in the options menu for chapter 2! Outline for names and labels will be in 0.2 for sure, because I have already implemented these, hehe.

It's a different kind of family, because what it really is, is Lucy is wife material. She caught the MC at his most vulnerable time and pulled out all the stops to help him and take care of him, when his blood family failed him.
She's the kinda girl Jan should straight up marry, then sure, then she's family and Anya and Jane are family too, and would take care of you like family would.

I suppose it could be messed up in the path to that, messing around with Anya, or worse, Jane, along the way. But that's another issue rather than incest I guess, betraying someone as good as Lucy. Harem is kinda its own moral compass thing.

You have really no need to create a pseudo-family in a game beyond the strong innuendo to ic themes; hence the fact that the "problem", as you define it, is actually well present: only hidden slightly better.

But it's not really treated like that at all. Jane doesn't act like MC's mother, Jane flirts a little. and Anya flirts a lot. Lucy is just shy. They don't behave sisterly/motherly at all. The dev didn't create a sense of "thinly veiled incest" at all.

He created a story where the MC's best friend, who also happens to be a really cute but shy girl that everyone aside from the two of them themselves thinks are a couple (and they insist are just friends themselves) takes in her friend when he's in a bad situation after an accident... and her twin sister, thinks to snatch him up because they're not officially a couple.

The dynamic is only family like in the sense that they're allowing him to stay with them for free. But really that's like, a *really* good friend should do if you're in a desperate situation, and in this case it's like "don't let this one go, she's a keeper"

But otherwise? They instantly act like he's a potential lover, not a family member. When you meet Jane sober (after possibly meeting her drunk and she mistakes you for a lover), she doesn't ask you to have a mother/son relationship in the slighest. She also doesn't want a formal "Mrs. Parker", she wants to be addressed by first name, like a personal friend. So no, if you're reading incest into this.. you're off.

because the guy I was replying to was talking about the base game, and why incest has to be totally rewritten in it can't just change a couple pronouns the way they do in games that are actually designed to be incest games with a few pronoun swaps to escape patreon censors.

Incest fans think EVERY VN is an incest game that just got censored by patreon. I was explaining that incest actually doesn't make sense as the dev wrote it you can't just throw around different pronouns. You had to rewrite the scenario to make it work.

Such as, it makes no sense for Jan's nurse, and a taxi driver to refer to you as a couple and tease Lucy about it, if they're brother and sister. Sister picking up brother from the hospital, normal family stuff.
Girl who's a "friend" picking up her "friend" from the hospital, okay, they'd make a cute couple, tease them. You have to rewrite those interactions to make it work.

Anya wouldn't come greet at the door half dressed and immediately start flirting with her brother when the game makes it clear that Anya and the MC barely talked prior.

So NTR fans are actually more tolerable because Devs don't write thinly veiled NTR and then swap some pronouns to make it "not NTR" on the release. Devs instead err on the side of caution to avoid pissing off people who don't like NTR instead lol.

I mean throughout the thread, the main things I see is obviously complimenting on the characters/models/story
demands for incest
people concerned about lesbian content and wanting to skip it
and people concerned about NTR at first until the dev said no NTR.
people concerned about whether the girls will do lesbian things despite being in a harem which for some people ruins the harem idea I guess
