Other, unrelated thing, this mistress began to count her life in millenia instead of years because of how old she is. however, a millenia is about 1000 years and humanity as we currently know it existed for 100,000 according to science. (Creation mythos also state we are even older than that)

So what type of old is she then? you don't need to state a age but just say if she was young at the time of Gilgamesh or is she was a antediluvian thing.

Either way, it's quite weird John Rambo managed to blood bound her.
Nitpick: Millenia is 1000 years (Not about 1000)

In an article from :
The oldest known remains thought to be H. sapiens, found at Jebel Irhoud, Morocco, were unearthed in the first decade of the 2000s. This collection of specimens was made up of skull fragments, a complete jawbone, and stone tools, all of which date to about 315 kya
(kya = thousand Years Ago)

I've seen vampire stories where they were physically effected by their source of food. Ie; if they're forced to feed on animals, they begin to 'devolve'.
If the vampires of this setting use that mechanic, then 'Mistress' could be much, much older.
The oldest primitive tools found (made by pre-cursor species) are about 3.5 million years old.
So, if Devian wanted to write it that way, she could be truly ancient. The explanation for her current appearance would be her food source :geek:

edt: PS,
I just sited the Encyclopedia Britannica on a website dedicated to pirating porn games....
I really am a nerd :p

You guys will get more info about that in the next chapter, depending on the path taken, we have some 'splaining to do. XD
I am in the process of editing one of those scenes now, in fact. lol

Don't worry about my dumb questions too much, you may end up getting too lost in world building which is a mistake many people do, Including myself in the things i write. You spend many hours, nights, days, months, writing about your world and then you simply realize after you finish that nobody will fully understand it as you do and you may have wasted a lot of time.

And then you may end up doing terrible mistakes like putting important plot points or world building inside the codex instead of delivering naturally to your player. The ideal game lore codex is the one you seek because you are curious to learn more about the world and not because you need to understand what the fuck is going on.

Oh yeah, I am notorious for that, but in this case, most of that is done already, it's just a matter of how much to dish out. I spent over a year just writing the script,

I agree, delivering info in a huge dump is rarely a good idea, best to dish it out a little bit at a time. I hope that I manage to give people everything they need to know, so they only need to check the codex for small things (like a definition), or of you forget something due to playing a lot of things.

There is one exception in the next chapter, where there is a lot of background info on one of the characters that can be read, but it's not needed, and you get an abridged version of it if you just pretend to read it. lol

On the other hand, I hate when stories start off with huge info dumps, giving me the life story of the mc, and their friends and/or family. So, for this I throw you right in the middle, and introduce ideas slowly. I tried to make it as natural as I could. Which sounds strange, when talking about the supernatural, now that I think about it. lol

Oh yeah, I also hate the opposite too, when a story starts you off by throwing you in the middle of conflict with a bunch of factions and concepts going completely unexplained, the story keeps giving a bunch of fantasy names and somehow it expects you to understand it all. A good example of this would be the game, Mage Knight Apocalypse.

Sometimes you have to reach a middle-ground, explain something but don't explain all.

The intro to the first lord of the rings movie is a pretty good example of a middle-ground for me, it tells you "ok there was this evil guy, he made these titular rings and he's their lord, he tried to conquer the land and failed but hes not dead yet" and then BANG, begin story! no more exposition needed, go destroy that ring in mordor Frodo!

Yeah, I throw you in the middle, but I feel like I explained everything that was needed in that intro, while saving the less important things for later. Dishing out the little details as we go. I am a big fan of moderation. lol

Ah yes, sorry, i was giving the example of Mage Knight Apocalypse, hate that game, you actually did it well in my opinion.

I was just defending the good and old strategy of saying shit in a intro with Gordan freeman's voice, even some Vampire: The masquerade games do that with "this is a world of darkness, vampires roam these long nights and rule humanity in the shadows....*DRAMATIC AS FUCK MUSIC BEGINS!*".

Thank you.

Yeah, Bloodlines did that really well, so I tried to do something similar, even came close to quoting Smiling Jack in the next chapter from the intro there. It was hard to resist. Don't think I did completely. :ROFLMAO: I loved his explanation of 'immortality'.

Let's see here... i have some other quick r&tarded observations which came from my smol brain.

[1] I like the weirdly biological approach the codex has for vampires, it makes me remember the movie Blade in a way.

[2] I think it's funny how you nerfed blood bond, and yeah it was pretty op for those types of games, before the colapse of their clan, all Tremere were blood bonded, which was pretty fucked up.

[3] The combat system is cool but it lacks a setting to make the animations go faster, i was already going insane against that guy who attacks the wolf girl.

[4] Speaking of that guy, i was going all strategic and trying to focus on killing him first because i thought that once he died, his shadows would disappear with him but that logic did not follow, it would be interesting if it did because as it is now, the combat is just mashing buttons and luck.

[5] When i heard the age of the protagonist, a strange part of my very soul hoped he would talk like Christof Romuald, it's just so good and funny in that game to see Chris talking like a crusader to modern people and they getting all confused by the way he talks. Vampire: The masquerade: Redemption made me learn a lot of old english words that i did not know.

[6] Isn't kinda weird that the Werewolves don't know what a blood bond is?

The blood bond is still pretty powerful in here, it is the name of the game after all, but while it's a big part of the plot, you won't have to worry too much about it.

Good idea, I didn't think about that, though I was considering using the skip button to work for it, have to see how the coder wants to work it. We want this to be the most fun it can be, and people to be able to play the way they want as much as we can, so happy to listen to any suggestion, and I will do what I can within reason.

There is some strategy for the combat, depending on your setting, but we figured that since the shadow clones only had one HP each in the current iteration, that it would be easy enough. With the speed power, all 4 can usually be taken out in one round if the dice are in your favor (and it's not on hard). You do have to use the claws though, as it requires 'true' damage to hurt them. We had experimented with a number of ideas, from them gradually losing health each turn to letting the ghoul's hammer hurt them. In the end, we went with the 1hp thing, but as shadows, normal attacks won't hurt them. As you gain companions, the options for it will expand, the various companions will all have different abilities. Worst case, if you find you are not fond of the combat, you can put it on cheaty mode, and summon The Mistress to fight for you. She kills everything for you in one strike.

I do generally have him talk a bit more old school, though I didn't go full on old English, he does speak rather formally most of the time. I rarely let him use modern slag or contractions. The ghoul does, but she gets them mixed up sometimes. lol

Well, the vampires do try to keep that a secret, so people can't use it against them. The vamps and werewolves were at war until a decade or two ago (and still are in most of the world), so they try to keep any weakness to themselves whenever possible. ;)

Thank you, I am struggling some right now, but I am hopefully a few days away from my new pc working... /eyes crossed for luck. Getting the threadreipper and 3090 working, will do wonders for my productivity. ;)

I finally managed to get my hands on a working motherboard that is compatible with my new CPU. I had to reinstall windows again, and so I am reinstalling everything, trying to get all my settings and remaining drives set up on it, all my libraries for Daz, and so on.
Either way, once I am done, this will greatly speed up all of my other work.

Nice, Render are good story is intriguing so far. Only thing i dont like is its unity :p Would be perfect if was Ren'Py, tho that's my personal bias
Agreed, at least with renpy you have easy / near effortless cross platform support. Windows, linux (even on arm), mac, android, ios all with minimal effort as a player or dev.

Yeah, except that I wasn't able to use it. I am dyslexic, and that is way over my head. With Unity, I can do a lot more, and we can learn something that will allow us to make better games in the future, whereas Ren'Py isn't good for much more than a basic VN, which is not something we want to make.

Don't get me wrong, I get why some people like it, but it doesn't really do what I want it to do, and it does do some things that I really hate. We still tried to make it do most of the things you can do in Ren'Py and much more. You can change your cursor, fonts, take screenshots, adjust the UI size, and so on. We tried to make it as comfortable for you Ren'Py fans as we could. About the only thing you will have to do that you don't in Ren'Py is keep track of your saves, because I don't want game stuff on my system drive. Personally, I want all of my game related stuff on my game drives, that's what they are for. Maybe that is just me... lol

Yeah, I tried to do an upgrade, and all hell broke loose, I have been working on the update on my spare computer, and the main part is getting much closer, but only having one working PC really slowed me down a lot. Now I have a Threadripper and a 3090 on the main computer, and once I finish getting everything all set up there, it will really speed everything up. My first renders on it have been much faster, and I can cram a lot more into a scene, so I will need less tricks to get these larger scenes to work.

I still lost 5 hard drives (over 30tb), so there is a lot of work replacing some of what I lost but I am making good progress, and learning new tricks as I go to keep making better textures for all my custom stuff.

Ouch it's not easy lossing the data you worked so hard on or to gather, maybe you should look into burning your critical files and other irreplaceable data to a DVD?

But all in I'm glad you did not loss everything that would have been a cunt to deal with.

Glad to see this set back did not put you off of continuing this fine game.

I had over 100tb, lost over 30tb. Hard to back that kind of stuff up in any format. I did have most things backed up on multiple drives, but not everything. Most of the game stuff I had in a few places.
Once I save up again, my next plan it to get some faster drives for the game stuff, and a NAS to auto back up everything for it daily. Replacing those drives and upgrading the RAM is the next thing I need, and and things will really pick up. Already going 3-6 times faster, and I finally got mesh grabber to work. I still have a lot to do to get that PC working the way I want, but I am already rendering on it.

I don't give up easily. :ROFLMAO:
