“I’m already getting negative reviews about some elements of my game”There won't be a CPR minigame, I did several tests (I had done all the animations) but I didn't find CPR very fun to play (I tried different versions), and since I'm already getting negative reviews about some elements of my game, I'd rather not implement that
And your solution to this is not to try something new, but you instead cancel the idea which is potentially still enjoyable for players?
You claimed you were looking for a good time in the game to test the idea. You announced you were about to add the idea with your own touch (Holy Chokehold or whatever you call it). You made people wait for several weeks. And when you finally got to test it, you concluded “I don’t like this very much”, scrapped it all, then announced “I don’t like this, I will not add it”. After all that?
I am not sure if you realize, but you are just making yourself and your game seem worthy of those negative reviews.
Normal game developers would probably put a poll or something similar to ask their players first whether an idea should be cancelled or not. If not a poll, you can at least consult other people for second opinions rather than arbitrarily decide “I don’t like this”, especially after stating “I plan to implement it”. It just doesn’t paint you as a responsible.
I can’t believe I would actually get to say this to someone: I am not even mad. Just disappointed. Mark these words: if you want to avoid negative reviews at this point, you are not doing a good job helping yourself.
