Damn this is sad. I really loved the game and locked forward how it would evolve. I always understood and waited for the public version to be released because I felt respect for making this piece of art.

The fact he still has his Patreon active just proves what he actually cared about. I'm guessing he wasn't making as much money as he wanted out of this so he just lashed out and picked a convenient scapegoat (leaking/piracy) that let him either ignore his own shortcomings or ignore that you have to build up a fanbase. SierraLee's main game is fucking free, on Steam even, and she makes $5,000 a month. DarkCookie gets his shit leaked almost immediately and he makes more money than anyone with an actual job.

Can we get an abandoned tag on this?

he should have come clean, that he wasnt going to continue the game instead of going that route, a shame because the game almost was finished, but that is life, better games will come. He should delete the patreon, is not fair for the people that pledged, and i hope he returned the money to them

So this game got abandoned...truly sad to see a very good game just gone like that, the content and the story was interesting so far
But at the same time the way the developer have done really questionable, he could have told his supporters that he would stop developing the game and that people don't need to pledge for him anymore instead of the way he have done so far

I think leaking stuff is kinda shitty if the dev releases it for free anyway. But he should've made an announcement on patreon telling his patrons that he is not working on the game anymore, he owes them that. He probably saw that a lot of these games make a lot of money and thought that he could do the same and would be easy money. After 5 months he still wasn't making that much money and got mad.

Here's the thing, this is a piracy site. Sure, most of us wait for the public release if the dev asks nicely, but it's a courtesy not an obligation, and statistically once you get a certain number of supporters, chances are one of them will leak an update early. The thing is, it doesn't really matter. 90% of people here who would sub to a patreon or subscribestar or whatever will do it because they enjoy the game and think it's worth supporting, not because they get the game early, and the rest were never going to sub anyway, but they might spread it by word of mouth. As others have pointed out, there are plenty of games on here that get their patreon ver leaked every time, and those devs still make money, because they've made a product that people like, and built up trust by making good/regular updates. I've told new devs a bunch of times, it'll probably take at least a year before you see the numbers that you really want. It's such a shame, cause I really liked this game.

I think he most likely frustrating that even with adding so many content in each update but so little support even after months of developing the game unlike other games on the site, maybe he thought he was a failure and that everyone just want to take and play the game for free instead of giving him money for high quality porn game
Worse that would be with his game being leaked earlier to the public, that was the final straw that broke him

That's the new dev fallacy. Most games hardly see any subs in the first few months, it's usually around 4-6 months that they pick up. Their first patreon post was in april, and they have 39 subs @ $299 a month(dunno if/how many may have cancelled since abandonment). That's pretty good on average, and puts them on track to hit 70 within a year; putting them within the range of making minimum wage at that point($600 a month). Taking into account the number of new games and new devs that are popping up due to quarantine, they were doing fine.

Abandoned. Again? o_O.

The first game was a freak accident, I get that. But no such thing happened with this game.

Edit >> You know what, at over 4 gigs. Good job on the game and thank you for the love and content that you put into it. I have no complaints.
