Because Dere's big take-away from the Breeding Season fiasco was "Multiple people ruin everything." He's adamant on doing everything himself so that he has full control (and full responsibility) for the game. Passing stuff off to someone else is not in his plan - not because of money, but because he doesn't want to bring someone on board and have to deal with any of the management-level delegation and oversight that would entail. Or, as he puts it, "drama and nonsense."Like I've said before, there's got to be at least one other modeler in the world who has no issue with doing male models, or a gay animator who can do justice to man-on-man scenes. I respect that DH doesn't want to do this stuff himself - that's his prerogative. What I don't get it is why he can't just hire someone else to do these bits for him.
I mean, he's got over 3000 supporters. Even if they're all just chipping in the bare minimum $2 each that's well over $6000 per month, or $72,000 per year - minimum. Unless he's got a serious drug habit then I dare say he can afford to contract out some male models and m+m animations to someone, even if only for a couple of months worth of work and then be done with it.
Heck knows that what's I would do. I wouldn't want to do male models or gay animations either but I understand there's a demand for it - a big demand, in fact. Shelling out a tiny percentage of profits for a month or two to increase one's overall total market share forever afterward is just good business sense.
From his Patreon:
I suspect if he did happen across a worthy modeler he could work well with, he might be willing to bend a little on that point, but also as I'm sure you've observed, he has a very specific creative vision for the project and having to corral a team member (or several) to stick to that means less time working on it himself, which is an extremely unappealing prospect for the guy. What you see before you should convince you that I am serious about this project. I have taken the time to write complex systems to solve the issues that kill projects. And, as mentioned above, I did this by myself.
If you continually show me your support, I will: never quit, never produce low quality content, never let drama or nonsense destroy the project, and always listen to worthy feedback.
Sincerity, transparency, and no bullshit--these are the themes of this campaign. When I can, I will make development posts (tagged as Development). More frequently, for patrons, I will update the #wip-screenshots channel in Discord to show exactly what I am working on.
