Well zackjack177 is not completely wrong. He is way off the mark with the MC as we have a lot of exposition about him and is fairly consistent character (we know why the whoring around etc.). On the other side we have a gap on Jaye's side because on the span of time between George booking the flights and she landing, she is now hoping for the MC to stand up for her and she is no longer dismissive of him. It is in fact an abrupt change, we know based on the dialogue that she now wants to repair their relation but we still lack that eureka moment so to speak that made her reconsider. I suspect Tara may have smacked some sense into her but we have not being given the few lines of exposition to explain it (shit Avaron1974 now I have to go back and replay to make sure, damn I may have to learn to keep quiet  ).

Does the cameo in LoF adds something to this topic?
Agree to disagree.

To me, the "eureka moment" was when Jaye realized MC was blocked on her phone. Everything out of her after that was aimed at reconciliation, if the MC chooses to embrace her efforts.

1) She texts him within what I am guessing is a day or so in Aspen and abjectly apologizes for coming at MC after erroneously thinking he'd both missed the funeral and failed to try to stay in contact (because she discovered he was blocked in her end.)

2) She calls him on the slopes and is on the verge of asking to come out and visit MC when his boss interrupts them and has him rush off to help his wife and daughter at the cabin.

3) She tries to arrange a meet-up with MC when he lands back in Boston, which he turns down only to show up in front of George's office with another woman kissing him.

She has a moment of jealousy there, which seems ENTIRELY understandable if he passed up an opportunity to reconnect after their parents died.

A second eureka moment is her admission that she's lived with five years of guilt for thinking her outburst at the party is why MC left home.

Her behavior has been entirely consistent from the time she called him in Sicily. If she changed, it was in the five years between the party and their parents' deaths. I often wonder if people are playing the same game I am, or just skimming.

Hey Retrofire the crux of the argument with Jaye has already being discussed at length so I will be as brief as possible. Prior to V 0.3 she actually has not being consistent, we as the reader know she feels sorry but as soon as something goes sideways she goes ballistic against the MC. Consider your third point, she again goes full tilt against the MC and that is the last we see of her before V 0.3 (also finally this is when the MC realizes Jaye has those feelings).

So I postulated that the eureka moment happened after that not because she changed the way she thinks but she changed the way she acts, for the entirety of V 0.3 she acts really tempered and consistent. So the point that the post, that Avaron1974 commented on and I in turn responded to Avaron1974, was trying to make is not about how Jaye thinks but How she acts (allow me to ignore the text messages as those are not face to face interactions and better reflect her thought rather than actions).

As to what zackjack177 said about Jaye being like Tsunade I had to search for what he meant, it turns out to be a Naruto character (I am too old to be familiar with that) that is irascible and dismissive when things do not go her way. In that context I argued to Avaron1974 that zackjack177 had a point in that her change in behavior (actions) was too fast and unexpected without a preamble. That is why I feel we are missing some Jaye inner monologue before the airport scene. We go from the MC being Starfucker to being Jaye's beloved brother that has to stand up for her, that does not compute in my old-fashioned head.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[edit]

I get that we as the reader already have the broad strokes of the picture and that we might get the information I am asking about at a later time through dialogues with Jaye or Tara. Notwithstanding the inclusion of a short monologue would have made a smooth transition. Let me be clear, the posts are about the storytelling, not about Jaye specifically.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

That image inside the spoiler is from the after credits scene for V0.3 and we can see that Jaye and Tara had an important talk, I know it is to build suspense but without that information we have an abrupt change with no explanation as zackjack177 said .

Don't yall just love arguing about fictional characters in porn VNs.

It's certainly much better than arguing about the politics in fallout new vegas.
Well you know you are donkey riding a monocycle when you are mentioned in the same sentence as New Vegas and politics. :HideThePain:

It does occasionally strike me as silly as I'm doing it, that's for sure. That said, I don't post a whole lot, so I think my restraint gets lots of exercise.

I'll stand by my argument above, in spite of the reasoned and thoughtful counterpoints made by v1900. If one reads only base jealousy into her reaction to seeing MC kissing Mallory in front of George's office, I think it ignores how Jaye acts after the discovery about her phone, and I don' think the text messages can be discarded simply because they're not face-to-face contact. I guess we'll never know, because MC didn't stick around long enough to find out.

From the moment Jaye realizes MC did try to do right by her (and the family,) she makes repeated attempts to get MC alone to talk. Literally from the first couple frames in Aspen. She wants to fly out and talk to him. She wants to meet with him before the inheritance meeting, only to find herself shoved to the side each time either by a shitty summer job, or a girlfriend. Her first thoughts as she gets off the plane are literally "MC is going to have to swim if he wants to avoid talking now."

I think it's just as valid to suggest that the difference n her behavior in v0.3 can be accounted for by the fact that the MC hasn't found a way to run off again, or flaunt other priorities in her face as it is to suggest somebody had a "come to Jesus" talk with her.

**EDIT** I suspect the text message from Tara referecing a talk is related to Jaye's implicit accusation to Tara after she pulled up after the first George meeting in v0.2. Jaye was immediately suspicious of MC having Tara's number, and said something to the effect of, "And I have all sorts of questions for you."

It's suggested to me, anyway, that Tara coming clean to Jaye wasn't as timely as Tara implied it would be after having sex with MC in v0.3, but that they buried the hatchet before the trip to the Pacific. I concede that talk may have had some impact, but Jaye seems surprised that Tara figured out MC was in love with her when she cracked his journal, so Tara obviously didn't come completely clean, and still didn't reveal MC's secret.

Believe it or not new vegas has always been kinda political, people actually dissect vidya lore to discuss hard on the internet, I once read a 500 word essay on why house is better than the ncr and legion.

It don't surprise me at all that people argue all the time about who's best girl and people who think about how these characters change over time or don't.

Hey man I edited my post to better reflect the fact that I was trying to talk about storytelling and not Jaye, I usually fuck up when trying to express myself and end up obfuscating my own point (I blame my TGA :ROFLMAO: ). I appreciate your point and know that most here think the MC is kind of retard.

That is what we do, we turn the most mundane and inconsequential of things and we elaborate on it until we have written a treatise on the importance of a LI to not suck donkey dick for a free bag of chips. :KEK:

I think I got the point you were trying to make, and I actually think the MC is a flawed, but pretty good guy at heart, even if he's a little thick seeing the obvious with his sister.

To me, it really all comes down to empathy, and how easy it is to overlook the challenges of navigating a circumstance like this in a story that isn't constantly reminding you that the principle characters are actively longing for incest with such inane inner monologue as "I shouldn't be having these thoughts, she's my sister!"

FWIW, if MC or Jaye were this thick with a coworker or college crush, it would stretch credulity for me, yet it's very easy to imagine siblings wrestling with those feelings clinging to any straw to avoid saying or doing something that can't be undone. That doesn't make it any less frustrating to witness, though.

I do appreciate the thoughtful engagement, however...I'll leave it here, and gladly give you the last word!

Jaye is best girl but if Tara was a love interest, I'd immediately jump ship.

Just want to chime in and say this...
Jaye is a redhead. Obviously, there is a stereotype for a reason that redheads have firey tempers. Having interacted with a few myself, that stereotype is well earned. NEVER. PISS. OFF. A. REDHEAD.
So while you may think Jaye blowing up or 'going ballistic' was one of the ones I have read in the last few pages is her full character... then you have not interacted with many redheads and I feel sorry for you. Jaye is a very compassionate woman... but... her temper is NEVER deep below. Most of us may be able to control those sudden outbursts... Jaye can't... that doesn't mean she has suddenly flipped a switch to show affection... AND ... more over, the MC probably knows this better than anyone.

And lastly, again, to all the Jaye haters... just means more Jaye for me.

For once, if I may, they are exactly mine as well. I fell in love with Jaye and too bad if she rots the MC's life from time to time. He just has to be a little less stupid!

Can't believe people still hate Jaye after that heart to heart we had in the last episode.

Something else the anti Jaye crowd forget is that the MC treated her like a whore right after asshole tried to rape her. A lot of that anger is deserved.

I'd say this game has a lot of great girls. I suck with names but: Sister, Sister's friend, Reporter and girl in the cabin are all amazing girls. It is going to be hard to pick one over the other.

First release, my excitement was about sister, second release my excitement was about reporter and a little less girl in the cabin, now third released and sister's friend totally stole the show...

So, I just want to get one thing straight since I was left a little confused. Are we now in the present day, or is the MC still telling his story at the bar?

I think he's telling his story at the bar, but I don't see how that make any difference.:)

Holy shit. This may actually be my new favourite game on this site. I'm generally pretty critical of the overall quality (particularly of story writing) in the adult game/VN industry, so I genuinely mean it when I say this game is really fucking good. I'm actually so disappointed it currently ends at chapter 2.

I'm running through a mental checklist of some of my other top games, and I think this game beats them all. This is not to disparage other games (there's others that are objectively just as good), but this game pushes all my personal preference buttons, technical, narrative and sexual:

- Focused and coherent design
- No stupid, fluff sandbox
- No pointless minigames
- No convoluted choice and path system / meaningful and clear choices
- No excessive points system
- Fantastic renders and polished UI

- A good amount of fantasy fulfilment
- Well written dialogue, funny and sincere when it needs to be
- Actually has an intriguing (primary/secondary?) plot so something other than just personal drama moves the story forward
- Narrowly focused love interests
- Well defined characters that actually have some depth and complexity
- While it shouldn't be worth mentioning, the fact that I can see the developers actually know where the plot is going before they start making the game already puts it above 90% of the games here.

- No damn NTR
- I'm a romantic at heart which the story and sex plays to
- ... but also I'm a redblooded male so I love well spaced out and timely sex scenes. So maybe I'm a hypocrite. Sue me. (my romantic heart pumps my redblood)
- I'm a sucker for 'fix a emotionally broken/damaged girl'
- Seems to be currently riding the edge between harem and anti-harem space, which I love. Have to see how it pans out. (I love plausible thruples and the like, it's the combination of romance, sex and fantasy fulfilment)
- Just the right amount of taboo
- Oh, and to state the obvious, the LIs are hot as fuck

I'm so invested in the story already holy fuck I just want to see what happens next. I generally try and offer some constructive criticism when I leave a long post, but I honestly can't think of anything that isn't just minor nitpicking.
