First, nice little update, showing the relationship dynamic between MC and Ayana.


On the characters ethnic background topic. Personally, i like that Connected can be used as an example for other games here that models & renders of Black (or Black-Mixed) characters don't always have to be dark-brown skin (example: Michael Jordan, Denzel Washington). For characters MC, Charlotte & Ayana being ambiguously brown, i think of lighter-brown skinned & brown skinned Black people, like Stephen Curry and Zendaya to Rihanna, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Will Smith to add examples of various shades.
As you said in your other comment, there's always that confusion and genuine curiosity about mixed people and their ethnic background so it works in that favor. There's also those that favor one parent's genetic appearance over the other (example:

Also like that your characters aren't the stereotypical portrayed Blacks, like hairstyle-wise nothing but afros, dreads,

or speaking in complete hardcore slang, a rapper or hoodlum (nothing wrong with those, but those are likely the first to come to mind). Or in porn logic just their for cuckolding people.

Or one idea is you can just sum it up and say it's set in your own world with it's own version & twist on humans.


Comedian Trevor Noah (South African/Swiss) told a story of coming to America and getting mistaken as hispanic.

Just my two cents on the race issue

I am from South Africa and Trevor Noah is not seen as black in South Africa. He is seen as coloured (Not a derogatory term in SA) it is a convenient term for any person of Malay, Hottentot, Xhoi, San or mixed race, including black and white decent. Coloured people of mixed race origin are seen as distinct from Black people. (Weird but true!)

No light skinned black person from the US would be seen as a black person in South Africa. All of them would be classified as Coloured. Coloured people are also culturally different from Black people and are actually more culturally aligned to the Afrikaner people (Afrikaans speaking white people from Dutch decent)

People like Trevor Noah would be still be classified as Coloured, although he would be culturally Xhosa (His mom was Xhosa and his dad Swiss).

Just some food for though. In general I hate the race classification BS. It's a way to devide us IMO.

Love the cast of characters in this game. But yes, not "black" in the strict sence of the word (According to South African standards), but mixed race.

Believe me, I knew all about the clipping here. From the first shower room scene to the meditation to the ending scene, clipping is all over this update. It was bad in the first scene with the park, but I edited them in PS one by one so you don't see them. Dad's shirt had sooo much clipping, good God. I just sort of gave up as time went on cause I started rendering in batches. That meant out of 20 finished renders, there would be like 10 or more with constant clipping and I just got fed up so I said fuck it, lol. I could've smoothed the clipping in Daz itself but that would've required far more individual care for each render. More care than I was already putting in. And even then it wouldn't guarantee the result I was looking for.

I know how much attention it takes to avoid clipping completly, but it gets easier over time and your eye will catch that stuff faster before you hit the render button. A year ago i would've probably not even seen half of the clippings that i see now, but then i started doing renders myself and after a while i started to see every little bit.

They're black. Most characters in the game are except for a few. Confusing I know, that's mostly my fault for some conflicting design choices, but Ayana is black or Caribbean American and the MC is also black (along with his sister). MC and Charlotte are just very light-skinned (the blue eyes was probably a mistake but blue eyes made Charlotte pop out more to me, that's why I went with them.) The problem is it's causing more confusion than anything else. But it's too late to change honestly.

I'd say just think of Michael Ealy or the Hodgetwins lol. There are some exceptions to the norm for sure.

I don't think blue eyes for black people are unrealistic, although rare.
Blue eyes is a recessive gene but can easily pop from two brown eyed parents.

The fact that the mom is white with blue eyes makes it much more likely.

So Possible (Remember, humans have pairs of genes on it's chromosones)

So homogenic brown eyed marries homogenic blue eyes (BrBr x BlBl)
Theoretically they're offspring will all be:
BrBl Heterogenic brown eyes (100%)
(Since Brown is the dominant gene. Their kids can not have blue eyes, but it is carried in all their genes)

So the next generation of two of these "mixed" generation Heterogenic brown eyes will have the following possible offspring. (BrBl xBrBl)
BrBr (Homogenic Brown eyes again - 25%)
BrBl (Heterogenic Brown eyes - 50%)
BlBl (Homgenic Blue eys - 25%)

So you see the Black dad (Possible more mixed race with heterogenic genes including a receisive blue eye gene) together with a Homogenic Blue eye gene will give the following offspring.
BrBl(Dad) x BlBl(Mom)
Gives
BrBl (Heterogenic Brown eyes - 25%)
BlBl (Homogenic Blue eyes - 75%)

So you see, blue eyes, if the dad have the recessive blue eye gene, is actually extremely likely.
It does imply that the dad is mixed race from at least previous generations. Also I would guess that Hispanic ancestry among black people in the US and Caribbean is not un common and would explain Ayana's look.

I personally wouldn't think any of the characters in the game are "black" if I saw them IRL. I'd think they're either white, latino/hispanic or mixed, but not "black". I'd even guess asian before guessing they're black.

Now, if they're "black" as in they have 10% DNA from african heritage, then sure, but IMO that doesn't count. They'd be mixed race, a majority of their genes would be something else and african (black) would be a minor part thats not outwardly noticeable.

I wish someone had told me, as I'm sure you learned by now, but being a "friend" is the worst way to win a girl over. Genetic Sexual Attracttion. Look it up. That's what's going to happen with the MC and Charlotte, I can feel it.

I also think Charlotte's not quite the innocent, unblemished girl she appears to be. She was very coy when talking about Michelle's switch to being more into girls than guys, even the MC felt she wasn't telling him the whole story, and she shot Nikki a very intense look when she caught her masturbating. So I wouldn't be surprised if she swings both ways and that something happened between her and Michelle in the past; maybe they also have a similar casual relationship with each other like the MC has with Ayana.

As far as they concern the MC, I think something could happen with each of them, but it would be kind of nice if it didn't. Let Charlotte and Ayana be the objects of the MC's affections and leave Michelle as a lesbian and leave Nikki as someone who lusts after the MC but will never have him. Or at the very least, Michelle could be involved in a threesome (MC/Charlotte/Michelle or MC/Ayana/Michelle) and Nikki and the MC could hook up casually once or twice.

I really liked what I have seen of this game so far.

I often enjoy VNs with lots of text because they can offer some more insights in the MC's character and motivation. While it could have been trimmed a little, I found most of it enjoyable and far from boring. It helps a great deal in understanding the MC's inner conflict.

As for the girls, in descending order, Ayana is the most developed one so far and while I do not love every aspect of her character, I can see why so many others are smitten by her. Love her model, but if you hadn't stated she was mixed black, I would have mistaken her for Hispanic. Her footjob scene was one of the hottest I've seen in a VN so far, and would have been THE hottest if she hadn't blueballed the MC. Also her reaction if you want her to call you a certain word is hilarious.

Charlotte is just an Angel. Love her model and some of her big sister moments were genuinely funny. I loved how she made MC bend over so she could pat him on the head and then he stayed bend over during the entire conversation with Vanessa. So far she's been a sweet,, bubbly and funny character and I am eager for her next appearance. I also love how she is completely unfazed after walking in on Nikki masturbating.

Speaking of Nikki, it's refreshing to see a girl with a full patch of hair down there. Will she be a future LI?

I don't know what to think of Michelle yet. The combination of that overused hairstyle, the tattoos and the tough chick persona is something I've seen used many times before, so nothing about her stands out for me.

I honestly thought Gloria was white. I only learned she is supposed to be mixed-race herself from reading the comments.

Vanessa is beautiful and a caring person, but I'll wait for further development.

But everyone knows that LOLA is best girl.

I like the look of the MC, I for one is a fan of the blue eyes along with the mixed race heritage. (The look)
He is well built, and his face fits his personality.

It's not the most attractive MC ever, but I like his general look.

My last point on race...(I don't want the whole discussion going on about that. The game is good and I feel it should just be background information.)

Both the MC and his sister is genetically at least 50% white and 50% of mostly black genes (The blue eyes would imply that the 50% genetic black is actually less, as there needed to be some European ancestry in some of the earlier generations on the dad side as well. This is also assuming the mom is 100% white)

So all we can say for sure is that the MC and his sister are mixed race with majority of genes from African and European decent.

Ayana and her mom are mostly from black decent going by the lore, but judging by their looks there is definitely some mixed genetic makeup. (Looking at The Jamaican Genetic pool, it's mostly African, but also major European (Spanish/English) and east Asian makeup)

Some slow-burner stories can get me invested enough in the story that I don't miss the sex scenes at all. I originally played Anyana as getting herself off in the shower and that was hot enough for me. Speaking for myself, if those locker room scenes had been missing I probably would still have bookmarked this as one to keep an eye on. I admit that the footjob scene was insanely hot (and as a foot fetishist, I find the footJOB the least appealing aspect of my fetish, but I can always appreciate a well done footjob scene). I guess what I'm trying to say is that the sex isn't the main draw for me, which is meant as a compliment.

Can Nikki keep her unkept lawn though? Asking for a friend.

I definitely understand that concept, I guess I just don't like the idea that she feels that the MC is an optional part of her life. She can cut contact with him completely for months, upon the request of some new guy, and then walk back into his life without any repercussions; they don't have a conversation about what aspect of their life will resume, or about earning back trust (at least from a player's perspective). Obviously we've not seen or heard much about the MC's past relationships so we don't know how he handles their arrangement but it really does feel like he is on her hook and not vice versa.

Would you consider, once the game is finished, going back and tweaking decisions and options or when you are done with a story would you leave it as written? More of a broader question than just about this one instance. I am curious if, once all of the content is added into the game, you'd change something for narrative purposes.

Oh and personally I don't need a sex scene in an update if, instead, I get a well developed story and deeper character development. I am sure I am alone in that but I felt like it needed to be said. I've played much longer games that are sparse on porn but strong on writing.
