So I'm asking you, why are people allowed to feel strong emotions about one piece of media and not another? Does the fact that this is a roleplaying game exempt it from being allowed to cause people to feel certain ways? Are people not entitled to their opinions based on their own perception of them?
I stand by what I said. I think it's foolish to project so much onto a PC that you can get genuinely upset and have actual grievances at the goings on within a porn game of all things. That doesn't mean I don't advocate for people having FEELINGS, that's a fucking absurd statement, but there is such a thing as being TOO attached and needing to take a step back and practice a bit of temperance.
Honestly I think we are arguing over the wrong thing entirely. The issue isn't "This porn games causes a lot of emotions inside of me to the point of making me upset". Games are art. Even CoC2 is, technically, an artform, despite it not being a good game. The main issue is expectations, ability to think straight and see the game in a different light.

Here is a story from Fate/Grand Order, a gacha game that I am sure most people know because it makes a lot of porn. There was a player, who really simped for a character called Scathach (I mean, who wouldn't she looks hot as fuck). This player spend a lot of money to get her in the game, possibly too much money. However, this person was only doing so because he simped for her looks and the personality she has that suited his personal tastes. Here is the problem - upon getting the character, the player realized that she isn't a virgin. In fact, in her mythos (since characters in Fate are mythological/historical figures), she fucked her warrior pupils as a graduation gift or something. Upon learning that, the player literally deleted the character from his inventory because this waifu wasn't a pure maiden that they expected. The person's disappointment is silly. They expected a purity from a character who is not supposed to have it.

I mentioned how Cait being a whore set the tone of the game for me - sex is something casual, most people will fuck you if you ask and monogamy is rare, while polygamy is accepted. In fact, when Ryn appeared and I had to actually pay attention to her and her needs I was like "Jesus no, I don't want to have a CoC2 girlfriend/wife it's too much work if she needs something from me every few minutes".

It's great to get invested and gain strong feelings from a story. The opposite of love isn't hate - it's indifference and that's the worst feeling a story could evoke. But it's also important to realize what sort of story you are getting in. I wouldn't go into a game that says it's NTR and then cry it's NTR. CoC2 has a lot of sides (and sometimes NTR is one of them) so it's natural people get upset over bait and switches. At the same time, keeping the same tone, themes and consistency for an RPG is not only difficult, but can also result in the game being worse because the writers try to avoid emotions that might make the reader upset. CoC2 is on the opposite side of the spectrum, where it seems like sometimes writers WANT to upset you with X and Y (hello Tobs) and give you something you wish they didn't.

The important thing is to know the difference. Is the person complaining about something they dislike because
A) Their horny brain is upset the story didn't go into the route they wanted even if that route would make it more boring, shallow or even disgusting (I ain't fucking Kinu no matter how many people wish they could).
B) The thing that made them upset is poorly written, doesn't improve the story and sometimes makes it even worse. As example, someone isn't mad that X character is fucking Y character behind the door. They are upset that the relationship between X and Y is poorly written and them fucking is just making both characters seem worse.

It's also important to remember that even in a perfect story where case B doesn't exist, case A will always exist.

Also I don't know much about Fate/Grand Order but that's fucking hilarious. How do you simp for a character so hard and not know their backstory?
Well, I can think of a few ways. Fate is known for being the VN with light eroge elements that turned King Arthur into a romancable, fuckable waifu. But not every person who likes Fate is a history nerd. I think it was a JP player, so chances are her lore wasn't available until she was in game and you had to go to an actual wikipedia page for a mythical figure after character's announcement and expect it to mention stuff like this.

At the same time, in gachas - design is king. As a fellow gacha player, I rolled for several characters just because the first glimpse at their personality makes me like them and I really love their design. Only later do I actually go out of my way to read character files to learn more about them. Thing is - there is rarely anything that makes me really dislike a character. Not to mention, gachas, it's stories and it's players are often really flexible. People still simp for characters that were massive antagonists because they are likable and well written still. FGO has a lead romantical interest and a deuteragonist who has way more development than the MC and people ship those two, yet her existence doesn't stop their ships of MC with other characters. It's interesting how it not being a porn game allows the community to write high-quality porn without toxicity. Heck, gacha games have SO much ships between characters that don't include MC that the communities often makes fun of anyone who is upset that X character isn't loyal and doesn't exclusively shows feelings to the player character.

The world of Gacha (and it's associated drama) will awaken you to heights of comedy you did not realize was possible.

That said

I'd say that happens in a lot of gachas, but a lot of gachas do do the unambiguous commander/captain/professor/etc romance schtick. Which always ends up being a trap for the developers at some point in time. Though sometimes it's nothing. Sometimes of those things you also have oaths/partners/marriage what have ya.
The gacha space is silly.

I am not entirely sure what you mean by trap. Might elaborating?

Oh I see, at least Lancelot still gets to be a chad then lmao
To reply to both of y'all though, I think I was way too late to get on the gacha train. It just seems like a huge time/money sink, and it's not like I don't have an excess of either but still. How can I optimize my factories in Factorio at work if I'm too busy playing gacha games for more waifus :KEK:

Guardian Tales is a good example. Usually a lot of it's characters have stories similar to famous works of fiction. The latest one (not yet released in english mind) follows a Count of Monte Cristo-esque story. Queue man about to take his vengeance and his sweetheart of before his fall shows up pregnant with the antagonist child beseeching him to spare the antagonist. Which he does because the moral is vengance bad. Flash forward, the character's mentor dies and he travels the land as a monk.

The fans er uh...
Yeah didn't like that.
To the extent that the company in question gave apology rolls and are amending the story. Heh.

Optimizing in factorio as well as aforementioned time (and technically money) was the reason I hopped off the train. At a certain point doing dailies everyday for a few months I thought to myself. "Yeah I'm not doing this anymore" And that was the end of my shortlived journey. I still keep up with the drama though. It's the most sterile drama there can be and nobody gets hurt besides some employees if a company goes up in flames.

Hopped off the gacha train to descend into the madness that is setting up 30 different rail stations on your planet is like hopping out of the frying pan and landing in Hell. On my current save I could have left long ago, but this run the bugs were more of a nuisance than usual so I'm not leaving until I've completely salted the earth with sweet Burner Miner Drill smog. I've become a Factorio Bezos, in that I keep producing more and more and I literally don't need anything. A lot of my factories stop producing because there's nowhere for the products to go. It's a battle between me, my bots, and my factories. One of us is going to croak first, and it's not going to be me.

I'd actually like to understand why people like Berwyn so much. Never really much cared for him, and he sorely lacked in companion interactions, and from what I've read before, his only saving grace was the art done for him. I do think people dying on the Berwyn hill is a bit much, but I'd like to understand the reasons outside of him being a femboy/one of the few male companions.
I just like his personality and design, and his sex scenes are hot as fuck. Not mind blowing but certainly had more appeal than Atugia or Quin.

:KEK: :KEK: :KEK: :KEK: :KEK: Okay but your last line of text actually has me cackling lmfao Eve is prime though, I can't lie.

Edit: I personally think that it's hardcoded so that your dad is a bigger chad than you no matter what is kinda hilarious. Or maybe he had the programmer of your codex lie to you, since every time you check it it's a different number?

In every playthrough of mine I try to be the opposite of our dad considering how he fucked up his body in the pursuit of filling/being filled in every hole. IMO it makes more sense to me to avoid doing what he did. Then again it might also make sense for someone else to double down and try to outdo him in that department.

Also with your first statement, gotta agree with ya. Dat ass of hers looks fine in that pic.

That's actually a pretty interesting character to RP as, might have to give that a try. I just think in either scenario that the concept is hilarious. If your dad was just unequivocally having sex way more than you no matter what, it's funny in an absurd kind of way. If you choose to believe he specifically hired a programmer to alter your codex so it always tells you that your dad fucks more than you, it's funny because your dad is apparently petty af.

Eve is easily top 5(off the top of my head, at least), great scenes and great assets.

In my headcanon they are all physically virgins when summoned, irrelevant of their story.

t. owner of a grailed Caenis ( i did know her story)

But I will delete Medb if I ever summon her.

I was one of those people who rioted really hard on that.
In fact, I still haven't returned to that game 'cause of that shit story they made.
Thank fucking god they changed it though.

I'd still go on with my revenge plan then raise the shitling as my own.
Deluded mfs who have that stupid belief where they can just go away pretty much lets the villain win 'cause gaslighting is amazing.

That is Savin's wet dream story right there.
I can already* see it happening to either Cait or Etheryn, both???

"Revenge bad" is such a tired, mishandled shit fucking theme. Oftentimes the message accidentally becomes "It's okay to be the aggressor because responding to anything is bad."
