Oh no, someone recognized my hyperbole after I directly mentioned hyperbole in a second comment! What next, they'll notice the foreshadowing?!? You'll never take my literary devices!

No but seriously, the main one I was thinking about was Shar. We get a quest to help her, we get all her dialogue and backstory, we get a training mechanic to influence her behavior, all this promise of a character... and what, later a quest gets added to get a harpy god artifact and she decides to wander into town for a bit of extra dialogue and I think implied sex? I kinda don't remember the cloister stuff... It felt like she was gonna be a character, have her story, get a conclusion... but it turns out she was just a much wordier replacement for the chicken harpy from CoC1. Worse, too, since you gotta wait 7 days (I think) to get the egg... and go pick it up.

Technically I think Bubbles is just on hiatus.

Of course, it's so long of a hiatus they've started reassigning his characters...but a hiatus nonetheless.

Well, Shar is a perfect example of a character that's just incomplete, not abandoned.

Her content is supposed to be in the Windy Hills and be tied to the Harpy Matron...the area we just got to. So "soon".

Another example is Senja content is locked behind Evergreen (actually a lot of stuff is probably locked behind Evergreen/Carmen/Komari plot stuff), that blue giant, more stuff with the salamander twins and the giant blue lady is locked behind Tychris (who knows when).

Looks younger and less mature, which fits the character better, plus Moira's just got weird proportions. Luckily it's not that many looking like that, but a couple like her Aileh and Brienne just got tiny heads.

Honestly on those two specific cases I like both the old and new art, more often than not I'm on the "Moira is superior" camp but yeah the Hellhound and Dragon chick were looking great from the get-go

Expecting reading comprehension beyond toddler level from anyone in this thread is a fruitless endeavour and has been getting nothing but disappointment so far because how dare I expect people who play a text-based porn game to be able to read 1724600459787.png

Nah. There's no hanging plot threads, no unfinished arc. She's as fleshed out as a side character needs to be.

There are clearly some things still hanging - any of Bubbles' plotlones, characters we put in jail from Ryn's adventures, Evergreens story - and I'd call those incomplete if they never got worked on.

But, like, the pups on the farm in Harvest Valley? They're just...done. They don't NEED any more content. They may get more, but they're not unfinished by any means. Same with most characters on that list.

Most of the actually "unfinished" characters have stuff planned for them, there's only a few I'd actually call incomplete and abandoned (for instance, the Marked Mercs plotline).

Looking at it from the other side, aren't there characters who received more content than they would "deserve", given their involvment in the story?

I guess it's more of a matter of perspective. Clementine doesn't have an "unfinished arc", but she's far from being fleshed out. You collect her randomly on your travels and then she just forever decorates one of the city tiles. There is a dissonance between her being written in a kind of romantic way, even saying she loves you (I know that word doesn't mean anything around here), even though she should know every time you visit her house it's just to fuck and then leave, maybe forever.

It's not necessarily about being abandoned, it's more about the "porn compendium" feel. At least she could give you the sheep milk from the previous game...

Just something I want to share this because some people are talking about the art style and it has bothered me for years.

One of the things I've always hated about CoC2 (and other games in this genre, especially CoC2/TiTS) is that the art style is so inconsistent, for me the first impression of the character (being the art, bust or portrait) is how I'll see them from now on, a lot of characters in CoC2 that I would probably like just don't click because of how bad or out of place the art is to me (of course the writing was also a big part of it, but for my monkey brain, the art is the main priority). Why not just keep one main artist to maintain consistency, or have a team of multiple artists working together to keep that art style consistent? (I know it's because they have so many characters that one guy probably wouldn't be enough, but I still hate it).

I don't hate Moira art style, in fact I think it fits perfectly in CoC2 (some of you will probably want to kill me for saying this, but I think Moira should be the main person when it comes to the game's art style), maybe it's because there are so many busts made by Moira in the game already but I don't know, I like Moira stuff.

I know it's a silly thing to worry about in a text-based game, but when the game has that option, why not at least make it consistent? especially in this game where they clearly want you to see what the character looks like with that big ass bust on the side.

Maybe it's my problem, but anyway, I just wanted to share this.

Moira is the lead artist and she's replacing DCL for that position. That's why the art is so inconsistent because different people like the art style of different artists. Personally I like DCL's art over Moira's and always pick their version when given the chance. There's also the fact that there are artists who are fans/get commissions to do art for certain characters.
