I do think something was lost in the switch to a more modern, grounded setting. The medieval setting in A Knight's Tale injected in a certain amount of novelty to the slice-of-life style daily routines that these games are built around. The fact Couples is basically set in our world, makes the day-to-day lives of the characters seem that much more mundane. Since the tedium of their routines is something most, if not all readers can easily relate to their own lived experience with "the daily grind".Not terrible writing, like so many other games on here. About 5% of the games have good to great writing. This falls into it's own category, decent and realistic writing, which comes off a bit boring. Then there is the real sin, supposedly the MC has watched plenty of films but has never heard of Scarface or it's most iconic line? WTF, "choot dat piece of chit writer"
Is almost like the Husband is the protagonist of Bioshock 1, brainwashed to obey everytime someone ends a conversation with "would you kindly".Ah, this is the same dev as Knights Tale. Now it makes perfect sense. I was just playing and thought this game has the exact same story and structure. A wife stuck in a depressingly boring relationship who prefers to hook up with younger women.
The sex scenes between them, all have the charm of a contract negotiation, often quite literally. The wife runs the show and you play as a yes-man with zero agency in the story. It has the same weird writing style where the wife issues her commands exclusively in the form of questions and the MC always agrees, he never takes the initiative or even expresses a wish.
And this doesn't happened sometimes or often, literally every interaction they have is like that. I remember once I realized that in Knights Tale I started to count the number of times the dude doesn't agree to a command/question from his wife. I think in 10 hours playtime I got to like 3 times and one of them, I kid you not, was that he declined a blowjob from her.
Needless to say, I've dropped Knights Tale long ago and now I'm going to do the same with this masterpiece.
Sayonara.
So your wife asks you if you'd like to fuck her best friend, making it very clear that this is not a trap, so you say:Ah, this is the same dev as Knights Tale. Now it makes perfect sense. That's certainly one way to read it. I read it as - your wife really wants to fuck her best friend but can't without cheating. So she suggests/nudges/manipulates you into fucking her first. Now she has carte blanche to do the same. It's no big deal since she doesn't really care who you do or don't fuck anyway. You're just a means to an end.So your wife asks you if you'd like to fuck her best friend, making it very clear that this is not a trap, so you say:
"Well, if I could have cheated on you and fucked her behind your back, I would have been balls deep right now, but since you're offering, and seem genuinely excited by the idea, no thank you! You've offended my fragile male ego; I've lost both my hard on, and the will to live."![]()
i think those are for patreons ... not sure as i was missing alot of scenes as well.Miss some renders in the scene between Amy and Katie
That are the scenes for the SE (special edition) game version that was available here on F95 before. But never got leaked again after I think 0.5 half a year ago. This version now we fortunately got after this long time is the "normal" version without the extra scenes.i think those are for patreons ... not sure as i was missing alot of scenes as well.
Maybe so, but through her manipulations I get to fuck my wife, my wife's best friend, my wife's best friend's lover, my wife and her best friend at the same time, my wife's best friend and her best friend's lover at the same time ...That's certainly one way to read it. Well, three girls and one guy.How the fuck is there more lesbian sex than straight sex.
I expect a certain demographic will be upset that the male protagonist is not the focus of every sex scene.Well, three girls and one guy.
Mathematics dictate then that 75% of all scenes must have a girl and only 25% must have a guy.
Seriously though, I like this VN. It's light, no drama, no strange stuff, just 4 normal people getting into interacting together. Reminds me a lot of Triangle but that did have a very, very, slightly creepy angle (the young girl being dependent on the couple) which was handled very nicely in Triangle but which is completely absent here.
I like the pacing as well, but since the last version I played was 0.5, I thought the story would have gotten a bit further. But I think it's fine, everybody is a bit shy, nobody wants to rush, and to be fair: why should they rush anything?
And I think that especially Katie is really hot. All of it: face, body, personality.
Most is NOT all. Not all games need to be made for that people.Ok lets talk stats, most game players are hetro men, most men want to play a male MC, and most men want to see the MC doing the fucking rather than watching lezo porn which has nothing to do with the MC.

Dafuq you trolling about??
And stats mean nothing when the author has a story to tell. It's not all about maximizing profit by following the lowest common denominator. The story I'm currently putting together is about a lesbian couple on their honeymoon. I feel the story is best told from their perspective and I don't need to have a version with a male protagonist. I find that a lot of my stories develop with women as protagonists. Most is NOT all. Not all games need to be made for that people.
