VN Ren'Py Crimson High [v0.35.1] [Vertigo]

I'm liking this VN about 75%, it's got me interested but god damn does the MC spend way too much time talking in his head and also spending way to much time explaining things that can easily be summed up in a single sentence. I do not need to know the myriad steps some random dude goes through for his morning routine nor what he intends to get at a cafe, i wish i could just skip the meaningless fluff and get to the actual story and the characters.

I might be being too harsh but several years ago i got stuck camping for a weekend with a friend and his friend and i had to listen to this dipshit waffle on about absolutely nothing for 2 days and in such detail it was like listening to someone discuss adding sugar to a cup of tea by the individual grain. Since then i have very little tolerance for folks who speak 4 sentences of nothing for every 1 of actual use, or worse, take that one sentence and stretch it out over 4 so i have to suffer through 8.

Basically, for those who are at least somewhat similar to me, does the writing get tighter as this story continues or is it just like this throughout?

Haha, I stopped playing and deleted another game because dev had 30 renders in each scene just telling about what the MC was thinking in that specific scenario. Every scenario/scene in this game was neverending thought bubbles from the MC. Like who cares what the MC is thinking deciding whether he should open a single door? It shouldn't take 30 renders for MC just to open 1 door. This went on for every door MC tried to go through. Way too much reading, so I deleted it. It's a shame because I loved every other part about that game.

As someone who likes to read I appreciate that the MC personality is fleshed out these inner monologues keep us understanding his choices and decisions. I enjoy the story immensely as it's not some cold character with no thoughts.

I have a bug to report, the flag 'manabumpat' and 'manaheadpat' do not get set by the game anywhere before or after the flags start being called upon in the script leading to the check always resulting in 'false' and preventing the 'true' variants from being displayed.

I use the URM in every Renpy game these days and i kept seeing path checks for those two flags and the true versions seem to be for if you did physical stuff with her, which i did, leading me to redo the scene and check all options, none apply the flag so i opened up the files themselves and discovered no setting of the flags anywhere. If i'm wrong i'd like to know how.

The scene where it happens got changed - previously when you woke up after emergency care from Reina, to Mana lying on the bed, you got asked whether you wanted to pat her or not, then whether you wanted to pat her head or butt. That whole bit has been removed - now you go straight to patting her butt, with the only question being whether you get a HJ or not from her.

Not sure why it got changed, maybe the dev was/is unhappy with having soooo many variables and decided to cut back on ones they felt were bad / not-taken / pointless, or wanted to force the player into some kind of sexual tension/relationship with Mana, or accidentally edited something and it's a big 'whoopsies'.

The only other scene I can think of that has been canned/changed like that is the early-on dream sex scene with Miko, which has been removed but will apparently be making a comeback as an 'extra' scene in one of the upcoming builds.

I don't know anything really about checking in-game variables, but do those variables get called anywhere in the current build? If they do, and it's locking content/choices out because the players are no longer able to make the choice that sets them... maybe someone needs to let the Dev know.

I dunno how to check what variables get checked at choices, etc - I mean via the actual engine and such, since obvious stuff is obvious to the player (ie if you don't investigate Reina's spare room, you can see the option to ask about it but can't select it).

Yes, that is where the current build ends.

To get those missing hamsters, you're sadly going to have to replay the game. I'd check the Dev's discord as they list where every hamster is (ie what room/scene your in, who your with, etc). Compare that to what you have, then use the 'skip' option on a new game to get to the sections where you're missing hamsters, then carefully go over things frame-by-frame till you spot it, then skip to next one.

You know what? Fucking mad props to the writer on this project. Instead of oh-so-typical shower pepping scene, where the MC (and thus the audience) invades the privacy of another to see some tiddies, they go with a better solution.

First, they have a scene where the MC is aware they're being spied on, and they have fun with it. We the audience don't see tiddies, but that's okay, it's a fun scene that helps build the situation up.

The second is that when the MC is given a chance to peek on the same girl, he opts not to. Why? Cause violating her trust is a bad idea, plus she already seems interested, so he is confident enough to just let things play out. It is great to see, but also kinda sad, that such thinking is such a breath of fresh air around here. As it turns out, trust is a crucial part of forming strong interpersonal relationships; and this author knows it.

So, kudos for that.

Just opened my watch list, and there was this automatic filter at the top implemented, that "only unread" threads were being shown. Maybe you were just up to date here?

This last couple releases got me really worried about the future. I really dont like Jun, up to this point i tolerated her because her appearances were minimal and her relation with the mc seemed platonic but if she ends up taking the spotlight moving in with the Mc and sharing his bed i will probably stop playing. Its a shame because ive got nothing but good things to say about this game besides that but i guess thats the risk you take when you have a cast as large as this and and give the player no input about skiping some characters content. Im guessing most players like her but personally if i had a choice she would be the only character i would skip.

I don't mind a slow burn as long as the slow burn eventually goes away and i get some good fap material some sorta reward for the slow burn and i'm not talking just a few scenes. I know I know as some ppl have said you want to fap go watch porn and as i say if you want to read go buy a comic book or go to a library. I would say a good VN should be 50/50 story and fap material. Also if you going to slow burn us you better have an AMAZING story and plot and a non rushed ending.
