Linda's star #7 does require 1st milestone to be complete because to unlock "Spending Time with Emily" requires 1st milestone to be unlocked.

You need to play chapter per chapter, from 1 to 3. Chapter 3 does not contain 1 & 2

Keep different folders, there is no link between chapters.
Chapter 2 assumes that you completed Chapter 1, same for Chapter 3. You'll just have to enter your name and préferences again.
