Greetings Folks!
I've made this post on Patreon and decided to place it here as well, to explain how the development and the game will work.
DEVELOPMENT
The development schedule is proceeding well so far. The feedback was great and I have fixed some of the concerns from the initial release of the game.
So, first of all, I would like to warn that my release schedule will remain monthly, interchanging between a story version and a technical version.
A story version will mainly focus on the narration of the main story.
A technical version will mainly address bugs and improvements to the game.
I've decided to use this format to better use my time, wanting to deliver a good quality game.
If this format will ever change in the future, don't worry, I will always warn you with at least a month's notice so that you will have the freedom to choose whether to continue supporting me or not in the most honest way.
That said, it means that having the story version released in September, the initially announced story version of October will be instead released in November.
Given the fact that I will have to resume my main job in September, this is the most that I can do for now. If the community will grow then I could give the game more time. But we'll see in the future, I guess.
In summary, story version released in September, a technical version released in October, story version released in November.
GAME FEATURES
We talked about the development, now let's talk about the juicy stuff, the expected features in the game.
As previously announced, the 0.02 version of September will end the Prologue of the story, but what's next?
You can expect a story-driven game with different branches and multiple endings.
After the Prologue, Elsa will be free to explore the surroundings, supported by a Morning-Afternoon-Night system that will dictate the passing of time.
Some of the actions that Elsa will perform during these time-cycles will trigger the advancement of time to the next stage. So yeah, you'll need to carefully manage your time based on the story objectives.
There will be no "Game Over" screen. Instead, every decision will lead to different consequences and eventually to a specific ENDING.
Speaking of decisions, the game will also feature Timed Decisions, which will trigger during specific dialogues where Elsa will have to quickly choose before time runs up or face terrible consequences.
The game will not use a map though, because I thought it would be more fun to explore street by street with events that can occur based on time of the day, STATS score, and more.
Players can expect to meet new friends or to make new enemies, during these encounters. Some encounters will open up "Quests" that could help Elsa in the main story.
Some of the NPCs she will meet may also be recruited as companions, which will have their own goals, quests, and stories. The game also features also a relationship system (hidden to the eyes of the players) which will record how Elsa behaves with her friends or enemies. Some friends could become enemies and vice-versa.
Eventually, some of the events, characters, and quests will also be suggested by Tier 5 Patrons.
As for the atmosphere, you will be able to see night clubs, forgotten subway stations, smelly alleys, street-gang bases, and much more. Some of the areas will have STATS requirements to be unlocked, others will be unlocked thanks to quests or events.
And this is it for this public update. The next public version, v0.01a August, will be released on F95zone on the 28th of August.
