About the time of Chapter 2 DMD was caught up in the Patreon Purge and it screwed with not only the game but with what fetishes the dev was willing to show.
DMD changed since then It's become a forced hybrid of the story of D's corruption from a naive girl into a sexual young woman with a romance story overlayed on the basic corruption premise until it's shifted into being robotic and in many ways unsatisfying.
D meets someone she wants to have sex with.
Internally agonizes over the fun she wants and what she thinks is right or wrong.
D and F talk.
D has sort of the sex she wanted. F is usually always lurking around.

Arranging the most popular games by "Likes" gives 19 out of the top 30 with the "Incest" tag; some of those have it as the primary theme, while for others it's of varying degrees of relevance. Saying they're not popular is absurd.
It may seem not as popular recently because incest as a genre/fetish is heavily saturated in the VN space. What's not saturated is GOOD incest games. If given a choice between a good incest game vs non-incest game, I think most people would still pick the former.
A lot of these incest games that are coming out are mediocre (sometimes straight up bad) in either renders, story, or game mechanics. Those games do not catch on and so players mistakenly correlate incest genre with bad games. This leads to a decrease in popularity. I feel like VN games overall is not in a good place right now. Most "good games" either take forever to update or being placed "on hold" and "abandoned".
I know people have a lot of gripes with DMD but tell me an equal or superior alternatives?

Pretty sure that has more to do with Patreon and less to do with user preferences. Less devs making incest games means more non incest games getting popular. Less to do with incest's popularity, more to do with financial services boycotting the kink.

The story is just very different than it was presented as early. The first chapter alone had D & F fighting off other men constantly, as would be realistic with a woman like D. It made D & F feel more risky, taboo and sexy by default of the other men constantly trying to have her.
Now? Since the 2nd chapter? It just feels like a dude fucking. It's boring, IMO.
They need to bring back a bit of that 1st chapter or just end this fn thing. I'm not really into their other work so I want this to go on but at the direction it's in I'd almost rather see it mercy-killed.
