Trope appears to be a storytelling shorthand for a concept that the audience will recognize and understand immediately. Since nobody seems to understand this issue unless imexplain it, it can’t be a trope. Not sure if people understand it even when I explain it.The Father became a babe-magnet AFTER he became an MC. Before that he was a loser.
This is a terrible trope. Probably the worst. Fortunately for devs, most players like it...
Not sure there is an example of “loser becomes winner as soon as he becomes MC. If there are examples of this in other games, movies, or books, I’d be interested.
In actuality, the “It” concept is a mystical explanation for why a character’s situation changes as rapidly as it does. Though, people’s internal mood and emotional strength can change drastically depending on the catalyst event — is D’s arrival a catalyst event — add a dash of wonder and it is.
