I was chatting (in f95zone space) with RomanHume, both of us apparently have heavy Dungeon and Dragon backgrounds. In my discussion with him, we both liked well drafted PCs and NPCs. In other words, who cares if someone has a 10th level paladin with a griffon mount. What’s more important is that person’s flaws and strengths - their hope and fears. What drives the character. It does make sense to me.
For some of us, such as myself, DMD--and D!!--can't be replaced.
But the new project should be given a fair chance to succeed. There are quite a few tweaks available (especially Daz improvements) plus a more experienced dev-team.
btw, @Aitan_3 , gave the thread the name "Mel". Otherwise, he was even more coy than usual. The starlet stuff was a wild guess by a thread member. I'd NEVER request insider info from you, Jeff...
I can tell you that the quality of workmanship in the development phase is equal to the quality of product in the second half of chapter 1 of DMD and Chapter 2 - this is evident in the beginning of this new project. I come with a theater and film background, a film/theater overall structure is being discussed. Some of my inputs have a heavy image sequence suggested as opposed to just providing dialogue.
Characters flaws are being discussed as are character arcs related to those flaws.
There is some really good shit being bandied around. It should be really really good. I’m hoping it gets to breathtaking - and I’m just talking about the script.
Unfortunately, it’s not my call to talk about characters and plot - but hopefully the above will either leave you satisfied or drive you to further distraction. (If it leaves you blasé- then that would suck)
