I think this is exactly what's happening. Remember he's under supervision currently by patreon (submitting new project to patreon, can't mention DMD and so on), and can't write freely. Think this is his way of saying so.

Degrees are not worth what they once were, when access to all the worlds ideas and information can be held in one's hand. Sure expanding one's knowledge is always good but as an accreditation of status, they now are shit.

Your CV is of no import to anyone (other than your ego) and, near as I can tell, all you do is dampen the mood by taking a joke way too seriously and kill the conversation by correcting people who are less well educated about the minutiae of history. Why is he releasing .17 in mid February? If he has the email list and is going to email it out anyway why the delay? It's scheduled for release tomorrow. Why wait to make this announcement the night before? He constantly pushes back deadlines. I'd be interested in how aggressive patreon is actually being since it just feels like a convenient excuse he's used this past year to delay the inevitable climax of F&D.
Which I assume his fear is that once they actually copulate his more passionate subscribers will then move on. I personally enjoy the pace of the story but I do not enjoy his repeated missed deadlines or his failure to address them until the weekend of the release. And now he's starting another project to be funded and the new excuse will be "I had to work on the project that allows me to be on patreon, so this weeks update will be pushed back."

You're trolling, right? You can't really be serious. Have you read the patreon post announcing this or the post on his personal website announcing the future plans for the game, or are you really just trying to throw gasoline on the fire here? I'm not going to do the work for you and explain what those posts say. You'll have to READ THE THREAD to get the information that basically justifies the delay. Then you can get back to whining and complaining about not getting something YOU AREN'T EVEN PAYING FOR RIGHT FUCKING NOW. Jesus! Talk about entitled. He gets nailed by the PC Police and is the 1st dev targeted when patreon throws a hissy fit a few months ago and changes their TOS, then gets back on schedule after retooling the game to meet their new standards, and now they threaten to remove his page and ban him from the site permanently, and you think he's a habitual liar and trying to delay the release for shits and giggles? Get the fuck out. You can't seriously be that much of a tool. "Why can't I have my free game right now? It must be because the dev is a jerk and is too lazy to do his job that I'm not paying for!"

What's really shitty is that these guys are on their own. They have no leverage in this situation. No possibility of it going viral, because the subject in question is Taboo. I doubt any other creators out there will be willing to stick out their necks for "creative freedom" if they aren't in the same boat too. Look at what happened when Patreon changed the way they took their cut, and affected $1 contributions. The internet had a meltdown, and they immediately back pedaled.
Reliable for someone accepting donations off the internet? absolutely. But absolutely not in a professional sense of the word.
I donated a lot of money to that dots in it's infancy. Why would you assume I didn't? And why would any of that make what I said less valid? If you have a good reason why he can't release it now the same way he's said he's going to in a month let's hear it. I only stopped supporting it after the two month period he delayed a month and then released an update with almost no new content. He's getting 100 fold more a month in revenue then when he first started. But the updates have remained the same. Didn't seem like he was putting the money to use. I don't feel bad playing now considering I donated hundreds of dollars then and for only 5 dollars now you get ALL the updates.
Does anyone have another source other that mrdots on patreons enforcement policy? Another content creator's opinion or an article or something? it just feels like a convenient excuse he's been using this past year to both delay the sex between F&D, as well as rally his subscribers behind him in a cause. Both of those things extend his profits.

1 - He's not the only dev. READ THE THREAD.
2 - He's not charging anyone on the 1st of February. So he's not going to get any more money until he figures out what he's going to do to keep this train rolling.

Dude, you can't be this dense. This Patreon debacle has nothing to do with the progression of the story. Those two things don't correlate. There's a lot of people that agree with you that MrDots is advancing the story as slowly as possible, myself included... but that has been going on for a long time now. Way before any of us had to worry about Patreon. Are you understanding what I'm saying to you? This discussion is about how Patreon is affecting the PRODUCTION of the game, not the PROGRESSION. I know you think that you understand what's happening here, but you don't. If you need us to start naming other creators that have been affected by this, then you clearly have NO CLUE on what's going on.
If you want to complain about the progression of the game, don't group up it in with the Patreon stuff.
Jesus you guys I don't stay current in the politics of porn. I'm not saying he's making it up. But as you said he's been delaying it long before this issue came out. It feels to me he is taking advantage of it and using it as an excuse for why he can't deliver content. I asked what is stopping him from releasing content, that was due today, today?
As far as I'm aware he's not shutting his patreon down. He will still be collecting donations form those 4000+ people for his "new project"

Once again, READ THE THREAD. He's not collecting anything for at least a month from patreon. If you READ THE THREAD you would understand that and understand what has happened this week that is preventing him from releasing what he planned to release. So stop spamming the thread, and spend a little while READING IT.
