you know there are sites independent of Patreon. Virtual Date and LOP Gold are their own entity, they offer pay games but work as a stand alone outfit. The sad truth is unless Mr.Dots can get funding to open his own game site we have seen the last of daring D.
Patreon are assholes, no shit, but they own the market (for Now). Unless Mr.Dots starts his own site or does with DMD what Arianeb does with offering Date Ariane for free he's done. Its bullshit, but unless someone has another site option we're all at the mercy of heartless self-righteous bastards.
maybe he can run an acceptable adult game on Patreon (a plot line I pitched in an email) to raise funds to fund DMD for free on his own private site as a sort of moral protest.

Okay, everyone, can we get back on to the topic of the game. Seems this thread kinda got derailed with the stupidity that is Patreon. Let's get back onto the topic at hand and discuss the game.

I know that not everyone is happy with what Patreon did, but it is ultimately up to them what they do and do not want on their site. Will Patreon lose out on a butt ton of money? Probably, as I know several artists (who do NSFW commissions on the side) who use their site and will probably have to find somewhere else now to supplement their income. But, I don't think their decision will effect them in long run.

But that's the great thing about the human race. We're adaptable. People like Mr. Dots will find some other place that will allow their work to be supported from and move one. And, at some point down the road, we'll have a new content update and this whole thing will just seem silly.

Anyway, trying to get this topic back on point, I can't wait until the next content update in order to see how much further the story progresses. I hope it is a good one and I can't wait to see how these stories are eventually going to end (hopefully a few years down the road).

not so sure about that, in the version posted here we get to choose how D and F are related, if they are friends, daughter and dad, etc, it forces the characters to always refer to one another as such, they can't use synonyms or other words, only the ones selected. This limits a lot the writing in the game, and I'm glad this won't be a thing anymore

I know I can't be the only one who's had fun with this feature though. =) Making her call you funny shit hasn't gotten old yet.

It just blows my mind how much money these game developers make for Patreon, and they are willing to just forego that profit. It just doesn't make any kind of business sense to me.

Dont donate him, he dont deserve it anymore. He is creating a good quality content, but like lot of people said it already, he is milking his donators for some time.

I mean, I don't disagree. But just because he's milking it doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed what he's produced. I came to the conclusion six months ago that he was milking this thing, but he still gets my $20 every month because what he does deliver I find enjoyable.

Well, I think the reasoning is pretty simple, DMD gets targeted because it's likely one of biggest or most recognizable out there. By biggest, most well known, and for the simple fact that it is blatantly incest related.

Smaller, less well known games will most definitely fall under the radar because they aren't yet big enough to be recognized, but once/if they make a name for themselves, then the same thing will happen.

Most likely, porn games like this will find another site willing to invest in them and they'll land on their feet elsewhere. It'll just take some time.

In the meantime though, MrDots is big enough to have his own website and should be able to get a lot of his patrons back if he continues the game and likely funnel it thru PayPal or something. And if that happens, he'll likely be up and running in a couple of weeks.

People are now assuming that Patreon is targeting developers for destruction like law enforcement.

The site police is going to do home inspections, and internet searches to make sure DMD can not be found anywhere! They're also going to monitor the new game development to make sure that it is not just a front. MrDots will not be allowed to launder DMD money off their site!

I suspect it's about reports/complaints they receive.

Unlikely, imo. The first round of purges came not too long after Patreon took $60 million in venture capital funding. Same with their attempted price restructuring. One of the firms that invested is Thrive Capital, founded by Joshua Kushner, brother of Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law. Probably not a big SJW type.

Knew this day would come after the first purge, a new platform for degeneracy needs to step up because Patreon will eventually weed out the rest, slowly but surely. *Puts tin foil hat on* I don't think they're going to stop at incest, my guess is that everything adult related will be wiped from the platform within a year or two.

Does anybody really know what's causing this? My money was on Paypal pressure, they're notoriously anti adult but there's also some conservative group that pressured Steam to censor House Party and ban adult patches being linked officially, maybe it's them? It's a strange world that basically allows all manner of extreme violence to exist but gets all puritanical about sex.

Nutaku's Komochi Greenlight is probably (hopefully) the future for these games but it's still a ways off being a replacement for Patreon.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I'm slightly confused about the versions of the game. If I've never played it before, which one I should download? Do I need to download the latest ch1 from OP, play it, then download ch2?

Yes, chapter one plays in to Ch 2 and contains the bulk of the story so far. If you're lucky, once you've finished Ch 1, your save will carry over in to Ch 2 but there's a user friendly intro in 2 that lets you add in decisions/stats if your saves don't work.

Your post goes to the heart of the matter. If a person likes what he is getting, he alone can decide if "it's a good deal". Unfortunately, this type of independent thinking is quite rare.
The DMD dev-team--and many fanboys--love praise and detest criticism. But "truth" can only be found in a mix of the two--as in your post.

Do you mean Kimochi Red Light? If so, their TOS basically grants them ownership of any project they work with, so probably not. See discussion at page 721.
On the other hand, MakerSupport seems promising, does anyone know yet if the "MrDots Games" account there is the real deal?
