It does when he is using Patreon's payment collection service to collect money and when he has made an individual agreement to not use the funding received via that service to create things that contain restricted content. Contract law 101: If you want to use a service then you have to abide by the agreements you have made with the provider.
I believe you'll find that Patreon collects the monies owed by the subscribers, and then forward that money (excluding the relevant fees & charges) on to the Account holder.

Did anyone at least bother to answer his question? Or are you guys arguing over the merits of answering his question?
I went through the recent pages of this thread and see one post saying that the update had been delayed to "mid-february" and a ton of posts about updates and delays and anything else he might have searched on which all were about patreon rules and whether DMD might have been canceled.
The really relevant bit of information was this link to MrDots' site (hopefully not scam) saying the delay to "mid-february" which isn't in a post talking about the delay at all, but about funding.

I think most of the people that have supported him and DMD will follow him where ever he decides to land his development.
I think that if they've stayed thru the year+ long journey to be at the point of a boobjob, they'll continuously support the game. They've invested in the game and are finally beginning to get the payoff
But I do think if he decides to go with a new project and essentially asking people to start over, he's going to lose q lot of customers.
One possible caveat would be using D as the main character in the next story and Rachel found F and D were doing stuff, so she killed him.
Thus, new story, Rachel in jail, and D and E go looking for love, sex, and survival.

People are now assuming that Patreon is targeting developers for destruction like law enforcement.
The site police is going to do home inspections, and internet searches to make sure DMD can not be found anywhere! They're also going to monitor the new game development to make sure that it is not just a front. MrDots will not be allowed to launder DMD money off their site!
All pledges must legitimately be for the new game and not some unmentioned project in the shadows. For the good of humanity!

not so sure about that, in the version posted here we get to choose how D and F are related, if they are friends, daughter and dad, etc, it forces the characters to always refer to one another as such, they can't use synonyms or other words, only the ones selected. This limits a lot the writing in the game, and I'm glad this won't be a thing anymore

you know there are sites independent of Patreon. Virtual Date and LOP Gold are their own entity, they offer pay games but work as a stand alone outfit. The sad truth is unless Mr.Dots can get funding to open his own game site we have seen the last of daring D.
Patreon are assholes, no shit, but they own the market (for Now). Unless Mr.Dots starts his own site or does with DMD what Arianeb does with offering Date Ariane for free he's done. Its bullshit, but unless someone has another site option we're all at the mercy of heartless self-righteous bastards.
maybe he can run an acceptable adult game on Patreon (a plot line I pitched in an email) to raise funds to fund DMD for free on his own private site as a sort of moral protest.

Okay, everyone, can we get back on to the topic of the game. Seems this thread kinda got derailed with the stupidity that is Patreon. Let's get back onto the topic at hand and discuss the game.
I know that not everyone is happy with what Patreon did, but it is ultimately up to them what they do and do not want on their site. Will Patreon lose out on a butt ton of money? Probably, as I know several artists (who do NSFW commissions on the side) who use their site and will probably have to find somewhere else now to supplement their income. But, I don't think their decision will effect them in long run.
But that's the great thing about the human race. We're adaptable. People like Mr. Dots will find some other place that will allow their work to be supported from and move one. And, at some point down the road, we'll have a new content update and this whole thing will just seem silly.
Anyway, trying to get this topic back on point, I can't wait until the next content update in order to see how much further the story progresses. I hope it is a good one and I can't wait to see how these stories are eventually going to end (hopefully a few years down the road).

I know I can't be the only one who's had fun with this feature though. =) Making her call you funny shit hasn't gotten old yet.
As a dev on Patreon I've noticed that there does seem to be a very arbitrary way in which they enforce the rules. Some devs are getting slammed and others are just flying right under the radar.
It just blows my mind how much money these game developers make for Patreon, and they are willing to just forego that profit. It just doesn't make any kind of business sense to me.
I mean, I don't disagree. But just because he's milking it doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed what he's produced. I came to the conclusion six months ago that he was milking this thing, but he still gets my $20 every month because what he does deliver I find enjoyable.

Yeah I know, I was just kidding. Last two days it seems like every tenth post is someone rushing in breathlessly with this GENIUS IDEA that will fix everything. Just having some fun.
Well, I think the reasoning is pretty simple, DMD gets targeted because it's likely one of biggest or most recognizable out there. By biggest, most well known, and for the simple fact that it is blatantly incest related.
Smaller, less well known games will most definitely fall under the radar because they aren't yet big enough to be recognized, but once/if they make a name for themselves, then the same thing will happen.
Most likely, porn games like this will find another site willing to invest in them and they'll land on their feet elsewhere. It'll just take some time.
In the meantime though, MrDots is big enough to have his own website and should be able to get a lot of his patrons back if he continues the game and likely funnel it thru PayPal or something. And if that happens, he'll likely be up and running in a couple of weeks.

I suspect it's about reports/complaints they receive.
Unlikely, imo. The first round of purges came not too long after Patreon took $60 million in venture capital funding. Same with their attempted price restructuring. One of the firms that invested is Thrive Capital, founded by Joshua Kushner, brother of Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law. Probably not a big SJW type.
