This leads me to a question. How are you going to deal with change in path? Say that I happen to go red, get cute Jane pregnant but eventually go blue in the other one? Isn't there any danger of discontinuities?
About the example you mentioned: pity. I want a meaningful relationship with her but I also love Red Jane. Not that I don't love blue Jane, but i find her Red version totally irresistible!
In a complex game like this there is always a danger of discontinuity. I try to keep three things in mind when writing.
1. Is what I'm writing going to box me into a corner? If I go down this path, is there a quick sensible way off of it?
2. Will it make sense if the characters does a 180 from whatever position they're in. Can they turn completely around from here or will writing this make them committed to some act or position?
3. Does this contradict too much with anything a character has done or said previously on either path in the game.
It's challenging but it's the kind of challenge I enjoy because when you do it successfully it comes off like you're really slick! It's about making sure I have one or two outs of any given situation.
But because I know that I'm not all seeing and mistakes have and will be made, one thing I'm testing is structuring my journal entries, code and scenes in such a way that changing something in a scene that is two or three releases old, will not cause a break in a future scene, and that the change will roll forward and keep the player from ever having to do a restart.
Haha, I just started playing this game, and, aside from the spelling mistakes I saw as I'm progressing through the prologue, my first impression when I get to Nanami's sex scene isn't "Nice" or anything like that. It's "Oh shit, she's yakuza? Is MC working for the mob?"
Remember what Jesus said: Judge me not on the quality of my spelling, but on the quality of my story.
Or something like that. Yeah, typos are my bane. But fortunately I have a very intelligent player community that always keeps me up to date on those mistakes and I try to fix them all before future releases.
That aside, I hate to comment too much on characters for fear of spoilers. But thank you for giving the game a play! I do appreciate the feedback!
As someone who doesn't code and has no real understanding of it, this is all...

Keep being the unicorn on Shia's shirt (magical If that isn't clear)
No matter how hard I try, I fucking laugh every time I see this. It's inexplicable and I have no idea why I find it so damned funny.
But yes, good code, no break, working saves, MAGIC!
