What the fuck? So Gumdrop has been holding Part X ransom all this time over animations, but hasn't talked to his animator in 2 months? What the hell is the excuse now? What the fuck has he "supposedly" been doing for MONTHS?
It can't be rendering issues, because he's put out 2 of those god damn pin-up packs since the release date announcement. The graphics card is working just fine buddy! And, the most infuriating part is that no one calls him out on his Discord! Look at these drones just going along with this! "Well... to possibly wait a little more then..."
The obvious answer is that Kyle has no game to release and he failed to complete part 10 for over two years now.
The obvious reason is that the game grew out of the earlier visual novel style and he wanted more interactivity so that choices mattered. This caused the game's development to stall because there were so many branches to track that without an established workflow, there is no way to complete it in time.
The way I see it, Act I Part X was too ambitious for one amateur with no prior experience making game and Gumdrop realized realized that he bit off more than he could chew and choked on it. When it was obviously getting delayed, to appease patrons, he pretended that he's still working and when the delay got too long, he started promising extra features – piling up more and more work atop what was already untenable.
FWIW, I do think he's actually working on his game, but it's still too ambitious for his own good and it's doubtful he'll complete it anytime soon.
His past release schedule usually involved sneak peeks of the actual game in the days and weeks before release. His latest deadline is May 23rd which he set back in March, I think. He should be posting some screenshots by now if he's actually close to completing the game for a release in 18 days.
NO!!!!
It's been 2 fucking years! How the fuck are you just letting this slide? How are people not demanding answers? COME ON!!!!
It's one thing to see Gumdrop taking people's money for nothing. But it's completely another to expect answers, let alone justice. Patreon does not and will not issue refunds and you support creators for their own sake, not for the sake of their creations, whether existing, announced, promised or implied.
While supporting a creator does grant you a legal way to obtain their creations and/or obtain a license to run their software, there's no promise that they will deliver their promises.
With no such promise granted or implied, you cannot take legal action against any creator. The only way you can express your dissatisfaction is by ending support for a creator.
Well, there's one exception: you can report illegal content to Patreon and in some cases, you could probably report him to the authorities. However, Kyle is not breaking Patreon's rules. His page was suspended at least twice (one time it was very long with a short break in the middle) over objectionable content (incest and non-consensual sex) and he amended the game as Patreon demanded.
This was proved when his page was reported back in February – Patreon didn't take any action against him. It was later shown that the allegations against the game were baseless (the objectionable rape content was rewritten so that it's ambiguous). Not only that, but the person reporting him was not Gumdrop's patron at that time (or ever, if I remember correctly).
As I said, the only action you can take against Kyle is to stop supporting him. People still throw money at him, including up to $20 dollars monthly. What can I say? People are dumb.
