Bro, just, like, go to bed next time. I can damn near guarantee you nothing concerning the thread or the game will change in the time it takes to sleep, wake up, get on with a portion of your day, and checking out this train wreck.I have been awake for two days, I'm going to bed
The problem is that Blue is not the one that manages the project he hired someone (project manager, translator and possibly also programmer) to do so and that person is the one that has ongoing health problems and was not able to work for months that is the main reason that slowed the merge. Its been a while since I checked on this sad to see theres still no update. So I browsed the forum a bit and I keep hearing people justify it by saying "its not blues fault its something with the programmers" or things like that but that cant be entirely correct. Blues the project runner that means he should be supervising the project and id assume the programmers are hired and payed by him with the patreon money. If hes hiring and paying these people hes their boss and will have to take responsibility for their blunders. This also means if a programmer isnt able to meet dead lines its Blues responsibility to either help get them on track or replace that programmer with someone who can. Just constantly delaying or not making even having dead lines isnt a solution.
That makes a bit more sense but Blue is still the boss and if the managers is too sick to program for a long period he could find someone to fill in as a programmer till the manager is better. The problem is that Blue is not the one that manages the project he hired someone (project manager, translator and possibly also programmer) to do so and that person is the one that has ongoing health problems and was not able to work for months that is the main reason that slowed the merge.
As far as I know, that is something Blue doesn't want to do because that person is a member of the team from the start and the game wouldn't be the same without him, Blue writes in german and the other guy makes the translation. That makes a bit more sense but Blue is still the boss and if the manager is too sick to program for a long period he could find someone to fill in as a programmer till the manager is better.
The dictionary definition of amateur, means either someone who engages in activity without pay, or someone who is incompetent. Clearly you cant mean the first given the evidence elsewhere, so you are saying the people you persistently defend are incompetent?Again, must reiterate, this is not maliciousness merely incompetence...
Stop ascribing to evil what can be explained via stupidity, yes they have really no fucking idea what they're doing realistically, and yes that's a normal thing for amateurs everywhere when they bite off more than they can chew. Anyone who disagrees is lying, all amateurs can get stuck into ruts of bullshit and other issues when they misunderstand the scope of what they're doing. This can drag on for months at a time, happens all the time, and its why we see so much failure in any scope of creative design when you look past the fewer success stories.
At this point just accept that its a big massive blunderfest, one I'm hopeful they are learning from, but stop attempting to spin it as something of a planned state to be in. We can all come together to remember that stupid shit happens, this is one major fuck up that will take some time to heal up people's trust from, and that's all it is. Not everything is a scam to get your money, most of it is people not understanding what they're getting themselves into, and trying to figure it out as they go, then having to fix everything later anyways.

I stopped defending months ago, because they showed they couldn't actively handle the situation in a way I could properly argue for. as for why they don't discuss on Patreon, couldn't fuckin tell ya. I do apologize for my bitterness in the past but at this point I'm just resigned to watching for the end so I can tag on you guys. Plus holding the line on the fact that they're not scammers, just not good at this, I will freely admit I was defending them previously. However, this whole situation is embarrassing and there's no good way to spin that, I look forward to it being resolved sooner rather than later. The dictionary definition of amateur, means either someone who engages in activity without pay, or someone who is incompetent. No-one plans on being incompetent, either they are or they arent and that doesnt mean they are "evil" as you call it, but it rather undermines you persistently defending them with excuses of an "ill" key team member who is irreplacable because of his excellence, or of all the great work they are allegedly doing being the scenes. They cant be great and irreplaceable, and incompetent at the same time.
Also, perhaps people would be more accepting they are dealing with incompetents, if the developers themselves came out on the platforms where they take peoples money, and tell them up front they are incompetent - wouldn't honesty be better? They may not be operating a "scam to get your money" as you call it, but at least people would know what they they are contributing to - although I imagine a lot of people would not contribute to anyone incompetent at what they are doing
Neveretheless Skummy, thank you for your clarification of what we are dealing with.
I have a suggestion for any Admin reading this thread please. Lock the thread. It serves no purpose currently and will simply continue to stoke strong emotion which would be better directed elsewhere. If it is the case the developer actually produces anything in future with tangible evidence of such, I'm sure patrons and Skummy will be sure to let you know
Im not saying full on replace the guy just a temp till he gets betterAs far as I know, that is something Blue doesn't want to do because that person is a member of the team from the start and the game wouldn't be the same without him, Blue writes in german and the other guy makes the translation.
Pretty sure the sick team member has been back in the thick of things for months now. Unless something else has happened, that I missed?Im not saying full on replace the guy just a temp till he gets better
While I do appreciate it, I do wonder why you bother keeping us informed in the first place. Dealing with certain people here seems stressful as fuck, and you really don't owe us anything.I stopped defending months ago, because they showed they couldn't actively handle the situation in a way I could properly argue for. as for why they don't discuss on Patreon, couldn't fuckin tell ya. Pretty much this. People always assume that devs have malicious intent when that is very often not the case. The stuff they are doing now with fixing the code, etc, should have been done a long time ago. Now with all the content they have in the game it is a lot harder to fix. This is one of the reasons why I don't really complain when devs decide to remake/rework early content just after a couple of releases. It is better that they do all that stuff early than having to deal with this kind of situations in the future. So as Skummy says this is NOT evil intent or malicious profiteering, it is incompetence.
I believe it is around 15-16 GB, I think someone from the team mentioned it a while ago(I might be incorrect), but they were trying to get it reduced. It won't be a problem for me as I have fast internet but could be for a lot of their patreons.Well everyone has to admit that they are not trying to take money.
As Eku7 points out their revenue has shrunk to almost 1/3 whereas if they left the buggy shit as is and just slapped new content together they would very much have made A LOT more money.
So as Skummy says this is NOT evil intent or malicious profiteering, it is incompetence.
At this point it is best to just wait for them to clear this reprogram hurdle with the one benefit being that all new content will be on better framework and easier to merge. So then they can go back to production (which was pretty good levels if I recall correctly).
The other big unanswered question is how big will it be at the end of the merge? If it is too big you will need to torrent the content. Do they want to merge the next full 30 day month into one month or one merge total? Because well.... I would hope their Subs/Patrons vote no on merging anything that big. Again leading to the how the hell do you host something that big?
My random thoughts
