Discord just introduced a policy change that adds a clause that lets them ban people for saying/doing things outside the platforms.
They aren't the first to do something like this, and like always I think it's BS and what someone does outside your platform shouldn't have any matter in banning someone from using your platform lol. Ban them only after they do something wrong on your platform. So stupid.

There is a new Patreon post from yesterday, from the looks of it, it doesn't look very promising, lol.
Yeah the title makes it sound like it isn't good news, but with it delayed indefinitely at this point not much has really changed if it's just more of the same.

If I were in charge of a highly visible platform like Discord, I'd sure as hell have terms that allowed for such a thing.

Like the old saying goes, "The management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason."

is the game being updated? thread said its 2020??
They've been running into problems. The current one is a lack of translator. They're looking at machine translation for now, but BlueCat isn't happy with the result so his supporters need to convince him to just do it and fix it later. Noones sharing the examples here, so we can't really comment on the quality yet.

I'm curious how BlueCat judges the translation when his apparently not comfortable with it so how would be able to judge it properly? I'm still in the camp of he could just translate it himself and it would be more than fine based off his English here and on patreon. Wouldn't even be a delay on newer updates if he did the next one or so himself since if his been working the past 18 months he would be plenty ahead anyway...

If bluecat can barely speak in English then he wouldn't be able to judge whether or not it's a good translation. I guess the decision will take until June? Maybe July. Or August. Or maybe December?

And then the discord news will push it back for another year while they remake the game to remove anyone who looks under 18

And then, terrible news-

He'll be put on the wanted list for being the first ever naturally deep blue coloured cat. They'll want to conduct experiments on him. They'll want to take away his beautiful blue fur. And he'll have no access to the internet anymore. The work will be lost!!
But you can still pay towards his patreon of course

He'll be on the run, but bravely still working on updates. All he'll need is a South Korean to German to Turkish translator along with a squad of 5 M1A2 Abrams battle tanks and then progress can be made again

Only 5?! This is Bluecat we are talking about. The amazing man that has the writing skills of Tolkien, the love and compassion of Mother Theresa, more humanity than Ghandi, more intelligent than Stephen Hawking, more honest than a lie detecter machine, and more beautiful than any Peoples magazine sexiest man alive. No, no. This gem of a human being doesn't need 5 tanks, he needs 5 regiments worth. He deserves to be protected.

Honestly machine translations are shit and would ruin the release anyway. I rather wait or just not get it in that case.
Not that I have much expectations of a new release anyway, but if it happens I rather have it not melt my brain with garbled text.

A janky translation can always be fixed later, but if it's never released, then that's it. Personally, I rather get it out and hope for better later than just give up.

I'd agree but for the fact that it seems most devs rarely go back and correct language/grammar. At least in all of the games I've played so far. Even the completed ones. Unless the dev is good in English and grammar to begin with, I don't see it happening successfully, especially considering the sheer amount of text in some of more ambitious titles. The more content there is, the harder it'll be to comb through it all later. I'm sure there some out there that do correct them. I just haven't seen it yet.

The last thing ES needs at this point is more reasons, real or manufactured, for why there is still no content. If Blue Cat is able to release a new day and the only thing holding him back is scuffed machine translation, let's take it. We'd have progress (finally), proof that he has actually done something (finally), and a new surge of support for the project. The translation could be fixed later either by the team or by fans.

On the other hand, if I and others here are right and the varied and often nonsensical excuses given lately are signs that the team is making no progress and that the only content made were the handful of images shared to patrons, then insisting that machine translation is fine will make BC's latest lie/excuse less effective and keep the pressure up.

Well, without machine translations the projected release window is "about a month after they find a translator willing and able to process an average sized novel every couple of months for a fraction of the money a regular translator would make". Which is to say... probably never.

Its late, I'm tired, I'm not putting more effort than this into this right now, here you go I'm gonna go back to being gone again. Full transparency, I've made it clear that from where I'm sitting, its fine as is and what isn't fine we can fix. I'm of the mind that even if its imperfect, enough proofreaders working together can solve it before it goes to public.

Enjoy.
