One of the big hangups Bluecat has is that because its from german, and barely any fluent english speakers speak german, he's worried that if not enough german proofreading is done then any mistakes to the german script screw up the english script.
I know BC has his idiosyncrasies, but does he not grok that at this point, a questionable translation is much less bad than further delays? I mean, he doesn't owe us pirates anything, but for fucks sake he should be putting more weight on catering to his patrons than his personal hangups.

Hence why he posted it to everyone and wanted their feedback before moving on, he's now been met with near universal approvals of the idea and it should get him over his hangups and get things moving....I hope.

I really hope so also Hubris can be a double edged sword, either raising talent to great heights or pummeling it into oblivion.
Also, ‘Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.’ so let's see if Bluecat learns from this.

The Empire State building: Year it started being built 1930. Time to completion, 1 year 45 days.
The aircraft carrier USS Yorktown(the one that replaced the one sunk at Midway) Year it started being built 1941. Time to completion, 16 and a half months.
Super oil tankers: 9-15 months to completion.
747 jumbo jet: 43 days to completion.
A 57 storey skyscraper in China: 19 days to completion.
Merging already existing content together: 21 months and counting...

There you go kids. Wanna be a programmer? Quit now and become an engineer. Its quicker.

That's kinda unfair. Those projects had vision, competence, planning and hard work. This one has...good PR?

I wouldn't call it good PR...
You really shouldn't be hard on yourself. If you Goggle "We are professional manipulators" you should find an article from the University of South Carolina from a Dr. Shannon Bowen, who researches and teaches PR ethics at the School of Journalism and Mass Communications that claims PR reps (in anonymity) say that they lie and manipulate professionally.
Honesty and integrity may be the minority but perseverance and time will tell. Truth always invariably comes out.(y)

Not only that, teams of thousands of employees working potentially around the clock every day for that time period.

I'm self deprecating, I think its breeds humility if you break yourself down and keep off of the high horse in the first instance, while still recognizing that you have worth. Pride and standing on your values has a slippery slope to hubris and beating people over the head with principles. :3

That all being said, I think I've done well enough, also fucked up plenty, and learned a lot from the experience.

Very true, "He who knows others is wise; he who knows himself is enlightened." - Lao Tzu.
Even for a member of a pirated porn game site, I still try to bring wisdom and meaning to my otherwise unremarkable existence. I just look at mirror and try to be proud of the person in that reflection.
I know you receive a lot of flack (even from yours truly), but keep up the fight. Whatever you believe is right. I'm going to go watch a manly movie now to get rid of this sap residue I just spewed. ;)

Actually, the machine translation sounds very good. I agree with most here that it sounds a lot better than Latecomer's translation. I know some German, and Latecomer is doing a word for word translation for the most part, whereas the machine translation actually sounds more natural, which is the opposite of what I would have predicted.

The good thing about MTL too is that, using it., you can write as much as you want and still have it all translate, which means no more throttling the amount of content to keep up with translation deadlines, you just keep going.

I wouldn't expect a faster than previous content pace or more in those releases though. The bottleneck will always be the image creation side since it would take the most time to do generally. Not sure how the alpha/beta's went with script/translation corrections but perhaps it would speed up that aspect if it played a part previously.

I hope BlueCat jumps on the MTL stuff and gets it done, hopefully doesn't have problems getting a proof reader although I also feel like alpha/beta could help fill this. Perhaps a 'play tester' so the lines can be read in context of what's on screen and then make adjustments prior to final release.

Soooo...guess this is good news for Bluecat. He won't have to skim down the script. More script, more renders, more content.

Playtesters are proofreaders, and we're free, or actively pay to be in that position and thus we pay him to fix his writing lol.

Also you're incorrect, Blue did actively have to throttle the amount he writes to not overload Latecomer, generally speaking he breathes this stuff and is obsessive about writing, but you are correct there is a hard limit as to images. There's only so much a person can do in a monthly cycle when translating, but a machine can translate whatever the fuck you put in it. So then he can write closer to what his ideal limit for images are and probably extend update length by a solid click of time. I think he said he dropped about 30% of what he actually wanted to write generally per update?

The problem with that comparison is that all those were many hundreds or thousands of employees working around the clock with years and years of experience in the field, putting together pre-made components (especially the latter two; those timescales are not from first creation of material, but in the former is putting together all the modular pieces that were premade and then sealing them together, and the latter the blocks were already assembled and just needed to be put into place in the framework of the skyscraper).
