It's sadly the reality of these donation sites. No recourse or actionable protocols for what is here a lack of effort.
At this point it has to be sunk-cost. They have paid hundreds and even when the outcome looks bad they still stick with it because they don't want to admit that they paid hundreds for nothing. They don't want to face the truth.

It is "amazing" how "slipping" - doing nothing (!) - for years is still called "slipping" by some deniers of reality... "The second" they start slipping doesn't bother anyone. Sure, people ask questions and usually, devs react, inform their fanbase and things go on smoothly. In fact, the actual situation here - people paying for YEARS on end while receiving nothing - proves beyond every doubt to any at least barely sane person literally nothing bad happens for devs. They still get money for years, obviously, despite, like in this case, actively treating their fanbase like dirt. Insulting them, banning them, breaking promises, giving out laughable schedules, and never meeting one of them even for the slightest of progress while taking the money.
"Nothing" is what people supporting him got for the last two years. "Nothing" is "nothing", so not that hard to get why he states it as it is - unless you're among those people mentioned above: not even barely sane...

See above. The first month 1 merge post was August 2020. 28 months later and where is the merge? 3 times Bluecat has said that it will be out by the end of the year, 3 times we watch the year go by with NOTHING. How about all the regular updates that could have been made in those two years?

Was that update that released 6 months ago good & nice to see? Yes, no one denies this. (Conveniently around the timing of this game getting marked as Abandoned back then though, and yes most of this update had been done for 2 years - Don't believe?
