If they managed to do what they said, I imagine it will be after Christmas. Though I wouldn't be surprised if that wanted it done before that, so they can not stress about it over the holidays.

Well, they have 30 days left, but each week that passes the "merge" plan looks less and less likely. I suspect that coming January we will hear from Bluecat and/or Skummy about the new direction, where new content will actually be published in the following months (January, February time frame), merge or no.
At least that is my hope.

If everyone is down to keep waiting for a few days I will try to squeeze out a progress bar from Bluecat to tide us over as we enter into the final stretch to deadline. I'mma level with you folks, I ain't got much faith left, and I'm pretty fuckin exhausted by this point. Even trying to keep up the chipper disposition is hard at this stage. But for those of you who are actually polite and cordial, I'll keep up the professional bullshit.

Reducing the amount of (useless and silly) neko content may help to speed up the releases, just saying.

Not sure that's the best idea. People like the Nekos. At least the ones that have been fleshed out. Plus, I don't think it has anything to do with the actual content that's causing problems. I believe it's the coding, and the profiles were slowing things down alot until they were temporarily removed.Reducing the amount of (useless and silly) neko content may help to speed up the releases, just saying.
If they were ever in a situation where characters had to be removed, it should be T8s.

Very true. For me, I am not really a fan of Fuyu content. She is cute and all, but I just don't care for the cuckquean trope. In games that try it, the cuckquean is always the most boring character, in my opinion.
But I know a lot of people like her, so to each his own.
I could do without Crazy Nurse also.
Mainly, characters that seem simplistic, with no real mystery to their character, fail to keep my interest as a player. For me, personally, getting to know the characters, and slowly reveal through playing the game, parts of their personality or history, is what makes a character interesting. So, characters like Crista, or Sloth-Chan, or Kaede, or Masai, seem the most compelling to me.

For me, it's the fact that she's the biggest threat to the students, and I'm a weirdo who's fully embraced the role of their teacher, and feel I need to look out for them. Except from me, obviously. I also kinda resent that she's holding Chiaki and Haruka's content hostage.
Christa is definitely underrated. I've always liked her, and always felt like a dick when Matsu wasn't paying attention to what she was saying. I like where her content seems to be going. I love the other three you mentioned too, but they're fan favourites, so it kinda goes without saying
I do like Fuyu, but I wonder if having her and Tomoe make peace so early was a mistake. Having those two trying to one up each other could have been interesting, especially if Fuyu failed occasionally. Currently, she's a bit too perfect. Though, I suppose that's the drawbacks of the harem porn genre. Eventually, most of the girls end up revolving around the MC. That's why I've gotten more interest in poly routes than harem routes lately. It feels less shallow and one sided.

It is likely that very few of the people writing "harem" porn have actual experience with multiple wives. It is difficult to imagine something with which you are unfamiliar, and that gimps the writing. (You rarely find in-depth characterization of females in porn games for the same reason.)
As a side note, BlueCat is still alive (as far as we know) and apparently working on Ecchi Sensei. His latest Patreon post is dated October 29th, 2021.

Yeah, that post explains that, now that the profiles are temporarily removed, he's given his lead coder and ultimatum. So, we're expecting the release this month, or failing that, some kind of drastic, less than ideal action will be taken to get it out shortly after. Skummy copy/pasted the whole post a few months back if you want to try to find it yourself.
As for the harem thing, I don't think actual harems would be what they'd want to base it on, as anime harems have more in common with polyamory than actual harems. The problem is that they take a lot of influence from more toxic poly relationships, where it largely revolves around the dude, with it new woman feeling less like a character and more like something to add to the collection. Actual harems rarely took consent into consideration, and tended to make slaves of the women.
The Harem genre is about fulfilling a fantasy, so I'm not sure how realistic I'd *want* the relationship dynamic to be, with that in mind. I've never seen a real life harem, and probably never will. They're not a thing that really happens very often in North America, where I live. Polyamorous and open relationships are starting to be more frequent, but they're not really the same thing.
I honestly don't even know if countries historically famous for harems/multiple wives are still practising those traditions anymore. If they are, I have my doubts that the reality of what they have holds up to the fantasy that is the draw (to me) of a harem game.
Good writing doesn't have to be 100% realistic. Characters can still seem like well fleshed out people. Overarching plots can be engaging. The important part is being able to suspend disbelief at the stuff that doesn't fit in with real life. After all, any story with magic in it, or science fiction with significantly advanced technology have aspects of them being written about that the author has no direct experience with. They have to extrapolate, be creative and imaginative, to weave the unrealistic elements into their story in a way that it doesn't break the illusion.

And therein lies the rub. It takes both skill and imagination to write good fiction, and that is something totally different from creating a game. That is why serious game creators hire a writer.

My own frustration with not enough poly routes is what helped inspire me to begin working on a polyamorous game.
I hope my 40 years of polyamory will help me make more believable relationships.
The closest thing we have here are the Fundamentalist Mormons.
Probably not the grand harems of legend and the Ottoman Empire, but polygynous marriage does still occur (usually with two or three wives). I've heard that immigrant families with multiple wives are forced to conform to US standards (if entering the US).
I know there were areas of India where polyandrous marriage was practiced. A number of brothers married to one woman in order to avoid splitting inheritance. Not sure if that is still the case. I'd seen it in an anthropology course.

Because most of these multi-person relationships involved the MC cheating on everyone, and then they all decide they didn't care for whatever reason when they found out. Harem MC's, this games included, are usually pretty manipulative and the girls aren't too bright.

Thanks. Production slowed down a bit with my return to full-time work. I have about 30% of the first day's renders done and am currently settling on the models for the last two of the seven characters who'll be introduced in the first update.
