Yeah, you gotta screen cap things pretty quick and save em, even if you don't think you'll post it at the time or the team will just delete it real quick. A live example from back in time.Oh yeah I'm aware of the one 4 days ago, I even made a post here about it, however at one point yesterday there were claims that a new build was being uploaded and then that they were waiting on Steam to process and approve it.
Unfortunately that discussion was on their Steam Forums and all I have now is:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
I presume their Discord has been similarly cleansed unless anybody here screen grabbed anything. If they were waiting on people who missed deadlines etc. a 4 day old depot would also be completely irrelevant.
You can't hide depots in Steam, only set a password. Even forYou must be registered to see the linksyou can see all their test depots and guess when they're likely prepping a patch etc.You can just(I stand corrected on this, it still uploads the metadata about the build to Steam). You must be registered to see the links, but for testing purposes you'd probably want to actually deliver it via Steam.
I'm surprised to see Pasix throw the first tantrum (and even before the launch this time!) considering it was Karb last time by far, though he seems to have realized the advantage of taking space from something. I guess I'm betting 10 funbucks on the next tantrum coming from Miya this time.BRO LOOK AT THIS,no clown $ Poop emoji
I didn't need to read it to know what is there. Controlling the crowd by sympathizing with them, expressing that they are on the same side, telling people that they are harmful by continuing what they are doing and that order must be kept for good of all.okay "so here we go" , this is just minutes ago but this was so funny I had to post it. it's like " haha dumbass you all still waiting?? how about some more "

I subbed on patreon years ago, just gave them the money for the game, then unsubbed. I don’t know whether i have it since i’m not subbed or not.wait don't you have access to everything since you paid $35?
lmao, community literally moderated by snowflakes that go on banning sprees for a reaction emoji. I guess that's what you get when you mix a volunteer staff team with a scamming developer.BRO LOOK AT THIS,no clown $ Poop emoji View attachment 2436987
I'm not even shocked or anything. This type of fear strategy is used by shitty Early Access indie developers as well. Ban everyone who asks logical questions. Then sorround yourself with people who are happy with everything or too stupid to live.lmao, community literally moderated by snowflakes that go on banning sprees for a reaction emoji. If there's one thing I'm surprised they didn't learn from the November release it's that community good will going into a divisive release is important, and ban waves don't help that. This backlash is even before a lot of new supporters from the last year are going to get a good look at the micro-transaction fest this has becomeI set poo emoji and was muted for 7 days in discord. lol . and they delite all posts about wave of bans on steam forum.
Are their mods really volunteers? I really don't get volunteering to do work for a for-profit business, I remember doing a double take when somebody on Steam said they were a volunteer translator too... is that really a thing? It seems ridiculous.lmao, community literally moderated by snowflakes that go on banning sprees for a reaction emoji. Why not ? Often enough people are fans enough they will do work for free like moderating or translating. When there is product they will often agree to work for perks like free access, free dlc/ in game currency etc.Are their mods really volunteers? I remember there was a case of scam game (forgot name, it wasn't porn game) where the guy would "hire" teenager moderators (12-15) for his discord by promising them future jobs in the industry. (
Yeah I can definitely understand that on small passion projects. Not sure I see the merit on a title pulling in $100k or so a month though. That's not a lot for most businesses but it's enough that ongoing costs for moderators/translators should be negligible. It's basically a rounding error especially when the latter can just be done via services like Amazon Turk when needed.Sometimes people see something they really want to succeed, and want to be part of it in any way they can.
Found it, I recalled that dude also claimed to have some pro company backing (turned out through nepotism). The name of the game was DreamWorld MMO.You must be registered to see the linksmaybe?
I think they used to have volunteer mods and it was a similar setup to FD albeit on a larger scale. Lots of focus on teasing in game footage/screenshots that turned out to be mockups, concept art and promising features that were completely beyond them then eventually a shambles of a release with a buggy and feature poor demo released after years of excuses and delays.
Not that I'm suggesting FD won't come out. Helius seems pretty confident on a subscription model so I'm sure they'll try and release something, although whether it's ever in a good state is a different question entirely. It's just uncanny the way a lot of these crowdfunded projects play out the same way.

Hah, oh shit, I just read about DreamWorld and am watching the video of their alpha... jesus Christ that actually makes FD look like a well run project. It looks like a mess-about project that somebody made after downloading all the free asset packs they could find on the Unreal marketplace.Found it, I recalled that dude also claimed to have some pro company backing (turned out through nepotism). The name of the game was DreamWorld MMO.
I think in case of this project people will gladly help for access to test builds and fully unlocked content. We actually had a playable version of the product what can't be said about the other scams.
Not only on patreon or kickstarter. There is already plenty of early access Steam games where game design and trailer is like a triple A game in a making ( presentation for fools ). But all devs did was assembling together premade assets. Pretending like they are making quality game, and it's actualy " coming out " soon-ish ( TM ).I think we'll probably start seeing stuff like this more often in the future though, especially with impressive looking prototypes that go nowhere, as it becomes easier to chuck together impressive demo projects with UE5. It's pretty much just a matter of time before some more competent scammers realise how much money you can make with a (relatively) simple prototype and a Patreon account.
