No you don't.
To take part in events you just need to change date on your PC to halloween or christmas.

As for skins, you need to do stuff to unlock them.
Like beating christmas event to unlock christmas skins, or beating animatronics on halloween on hardest difficulty (Insane I think?) to unlock special ones (Golden Frederika or Phoenix)

If you go into This PC Then press your storage (Mine is Windows (C: ) Then Users/Your Name (What you named your PC)/AppData/LocalLow/DefaultCompany/FNAF Then you get into the place where you can drop files.

I'm not an expert so tell me if I'm wrong
