IMHO the best option would be to combine the 2 lines together into "one" line (what the author might be trying to accomplish already), you play Max for a while, then the action turns towards Kate, you play that for couple in game days, then back to Max and so on and so forth (but this would require much better quest log, because the current one is much too vague and unclear, so the player can keep up with all the story lines), that way all players get to see most of the content, so the work put into it isn't "wasted", perhaps some skip options might be implemented for non-critical choices for those who aren't interested in the other line at all
That would be worse in my opinion.
You'd essentially force players to go through content they have absolutely no interest in.

I agree with your other points, trying to please as many as possible, is usually a bad idea unless you have the manpower to do it.

For small studios/indie devs, that's usually a terrible move, leading to what we're seeing on many games: low content, long time between releases, and content that a chunk of the players may not be interested in.

The same goes with "optional content", a few are saying they're fine with content being added if it's optional. The issue with that for small devs, is that the time they take to create optional content that only a fringe minority will be interested in, is not spent on content that they're actual customer base is interested in. Once again, this leads to small updates, and long times between updates.

... they were essentially 2 separate games, which wasn't a great idea to begin with (because the work load is essentially doubled), ...
Glamour did not begin with 2 separate games ...

After DS abandoned BB, he started Glamour in 2018, a redo of his older abandoned (real porn) game Glamour from 2016 ( https://f95zone.to/threads/glamour-2016-v0-8-fix-5-dark-silver.1782/ ). Plans were to have a female (Kate) and a male (Alex) playable character, develop the story of the original Glamour further, have a bigger world, etc ... and have a crossover with some of the known characters from BB like Alice joining Kate's college.
However they struggled to come up with an interesting story for Alex, the promised male mc, and so they later decided to add Max with the re-written BB story (without Eric) replacing Alex. You can still see Alex in the banner on top of this page.

I don't get all that moaning about Kates line, they were essentially 2 separate games, which wasn't a great idea to begin with (because the work load is essentially doubled), maybe the author wanted to capture larger audience with it, but continuation and regular updates of both AND endless forks that people seem to want, bleat the workload to unmanageable levels for the budget he is working with (be it time and/or money), and then there will always be loud minority that will say that is all wrong and how the author has ruined everything (the usual behavior of the unsatisfied people these days)

IMHO the best option would be to combine the 2 lines together into "one" line (what the author might be trying to accomplish already), you play Max for a while, then the action turns towards Kate, you play that for couple in game days, then back to Max and so on and so forth (but this would require much better quest log, because the current one is much too vague and unclear, so the player can keep up with all the story lines), that way all players get to see most of the content, so the work put into it isn't "wasted", perhaps some skip options might be implemented for non-critical choices for those who aren't interested in the other line at all

and for those who complain about the purity of character of the main characters, I think you should simply stop playing while you still can, forget these games exist at all, visit a church, go to a confession and do the penance, so you can avoid corruption of your pure minds and move on with your life :D
You don't care if you play as a male or female and you think you can fix the game? lolz. I hate to break it to you but there are more people who want the game to be Max centered and pay for that. I don't see why any of them would have to sit through that Kate crap so a minority get to see Kate fuck the guy of the week becasue he passed the ketchup.

One should know what they are getting into before they subscribe and pay for the game. After you do your research as a consumer is supposed to do, you have to decide if you want to pay for a game. I know, for me, if i find out its not worth it, im not going to pay for something. If i do, then i best know what im getting into.

that wasn't what I said, read my post again, and then read what ANGEL_KATE wrote about Kates line, I said - skip buttons for both in case you want to skip and it doesn't conflict with the line you're actually playing, but at least you have some glimpse of the events of the "other" side and they don't "feel" disconnected to the player, I for instance didn't know Max was involved in Kates line and that those events are completely missing from the Maxes side of the story, now I'm playing Kates line (struggling to be honest, because I'm not interested in most of her line at all) just to see what she was up with Max, Ann and Alice, and how it ties into Maxes side of the game

so had it been 1 story with 2 "playable" characters from the start, I wouldn't have missed few chunks of story I was interested in, kind of like one of the Halo games where you play MC for a while and then the covenant character, I don't think its bad at all, and as I said - it might be better for dev morale to feel that the work put into either forks isn't mostly wasted because only few are interested in one of them

On paper, it's not bad to swap MCs.
However, the MCs have to remain interesting to the player.

In this case, you end up having to play two MCs that have radically different interests, kinks and so on. The result being what we see now, neither side being interested in playing "the other side", in the great lines, saves a couple that don't mind.

For example, I have no interest in lesbian scenes at all (like I'm guessing most lesbians would have no interest in straight sex scenes.) If I was forced to play Kate, I'd just drop the game, because there'd be too much content I'd be forced to go through that I have no interest in.

Now, the ones more interested in the lesbian scenes, are the ones getting the shaft here, because there's not enough lesbian content on the Kate's side (I think you have a couple of scenes with the sister, and some stuff with Sophie I think.)

While on standard games, switching MCs can be a bit more open (think FPSes switching sides to see both side of the story), is usually fine, in a porn game including kinks and sexual preferences, it gets a bit more dicey :)

If there was actual proven manipulation of votes, yeah, that's not right.
But, assuming I'm guessing correctly (monetary gain reasons), the alternative would have been to just drop it.

I can't condone the form if cheating happened on the votes, but, it might have been what kept the game going for so long.
Has there been any proof of vote manipulation, or is that just a plausible theory?
From what I remember it was basically adding more and more Max centred options and repeating the same choices for Max even though the Kate ones ones where wining.

Stuff like should I focus on Max, should he get more frequent updates or stick to the current ratio and keep focus on Kate and he kept changing it to make more of the vote options around max even though Kate had been winning all the votes. I could be wrong, it was a while ago.

I don't get all that moaning about Kates line, <snip>

Imagine if you where supporting BB (the old one) and DS decided to introduce another MC and what is essentially a completely different game to BB, but just set in the same "universe". And then despite promising it won't affect BB, it won't reduce the BB content or slow down development of it, it became more and more and more about the other game, till you can barely recognise BB as it was and the story about Max, Anne, Lisa, Alice, Kira is dead and its now all about Stan and Mary and Sue and Paul and Peter. You would be pissed because the game you liked and enjoyed and supported was not the same anymore and all the promises to you about it not changing where broken. Of course if you're a fan of the new game with Stan and Mary you don't care about BB and why should you have to sit though any of that BB stuff anyway?

That's exactly what's happened here. He's taken one game, introduced another completely different game and tried to force them together.

Personally I don't really hate Max or BB, though I didn't like the original because of the NTR and stopped playing it when Eric made an appearance. This version I've never tried and probably won't ever now because I hate what it has done to a game I liked.

Also zeromike luckily the one good thing about the way it is made now, is you don't have to sit through the crap of the other MC side if you don't like it. The downside it the long wait to get updates, made worse and worse by the constant shifting of the goals.

Thank you, I do totally understand most people's point like yours, and I thank you for being so cordial about your replies, that's a nice change in this forum :D

Like I said, while I disagree with the form if that's how this was done, if it's for income purposes, and trying to draw in more Max supporters to avoid cancelling yet another game, I can kinda understand why it's been done, even if I can't condone how it happened.

I understand what you mean, hence I mentioned the necessity of the skip button if you're afraid you'll discover something new and unexpected about yourself lol

anyway, that was just my opinion about this split and at the same time shared content, I also think that devs may have come to similar conclusions as well, I don't think I'm the smartest one out there at all, but perhaps the way the core mechanics were written from the start, they were not able to implement the necessary changes to combine the stories or have interactions between them

and regarding either side of the content, perhaps someone on the team who was writing the content simply left the project, hence the lack of development or the story going one or the other way, and as you said yourself - writing both sides of this story may not be possible for one man or woman, the perspective on the world is simply too different, so they try to write what they know

anyway, I think that anyone telling something should be done either way should start EVERY such post with "I think", then follow with the idea, and preferably end with why they think that way, because generalizing and pretending they represent some unknown majority or that they know the ultimate truth is always bad and just leads to personal fights instead of discussing whether the idea is good or bad

The original plan was to have both MCs with the same story with minimal changes, rather than two storylines that only slightly touch each other. I think DS should hurry to combine both storylines into one. Also he should make dominat path for Kate. The old Glamour was a real fun game with at least some freedom, the new one has none not even the illusion of it.

I agree with just about you said there.
On top of the issue of time consumed for contents that might not please everyone, I think that the skipping bit, makes it even worse, as you'll literally have an update with little to no content, that you'll still have to go through (or skip non stop), to get to the content you're interested in.

Personally, I think the dev should just drop either one of them, get it done as best as he can, and then do the other side, separate both games, and do them both properly. In the long run, that's about the only solution I think would end up pleasing everybody.
