One possible reason is as follow:
Class games by either amount of likes, or weighted rating on F95.
Then find the "female protagonist" games in there.
Either female protagonist games are pretty bad, or it's not what the vast majority of players want in a porn game, and/or both in some cases.
Now take a dev that wants to make money, would the dev go with something that's nowhere near as wanted or played, or go with something that's clearly more popular to vastly increase their chance of making more money?
In this case, people complain about patreons voting for max, well, they're the one generating the largest chunk of the revenues aren't they? Why in god's name would the dev go against the chunk generating the most revenue's wishes?
Let's say for argument's sake/example, that you've got 120 people at 1$ that prefers Kate, and 4 paying 40 that prefers Max, while there would be more player in this example for Kate, it's still a 40$ loss for the dev.
When you're not paying for something it's completely irrational to argue against fair voting process of paying consumers.
But then again that's the pirates' way around here .

"Normal man"... A normal man would turn Max in to the cops at the earliest opportunity, and feel good about the inevitably, justifiably harsh sentencing he'd face for the myriad of charges levied against Max.
I can't get the extra lessons option with Andrew to come up. I've tried the fix patch, downloaded the client again and patched again. Doesn't seem to happen.

I agree that the game is more weighted towards Max's story, but there has actually been quite a bit of Kate content added in the last year. They've been pretty good about sticking to the alternating MC updates, so basically every other update has added Kate content. - Not including the Max crossover stuff, in the last year Kate has gotten a bunch of the hotel stuff, her new job at her sister's gym, the progressing punishments at school, punishments expanding to the basement, and the new headmaster grooming stuff. Plus all of the random scenes and interactions that have been added or expanded.
It feels like Max gets updated more often because Kate's story crosses over with Max's to sometimes add content with Alice.
(Sorry about the random bullet points, I'm not sure how I ended up with them, and I can't figure out how to get rid of them.)

Monthly, give or take a couple of days.
For every Kate "update" the next month will focus on Max, then back to Kate and so on.

Initially most scenes were full renders, now most of them have been masked or replaced with sprites.

They've been replaced with webp which allows for a massive space saving with minimal quality loss.
