IMO DS made a very wrong choice with abandoning (half assed ending) BB, he probably thought "I'm one of the biggest devs and my fanbase will accept it eventually and I can return to my real love, Glamour". Possibly after the anger of fans and loss of big patron numbers, he panicked and as a damage control started a BB remake.
If he continued BB with some relation changes for avoiding Patreon and started Glamour as a second game, he would have twice the current patron numbers. He's still a big earner, but he could be at the level of ICSTOR.

Which is something I already said in my post here. It's something I would actually love to see him doing but it may necessitate a re-re-re-reboot.
The blame for all of this is related to the base of his fans who were complaining to him about Kate's story, in which they wouldn't want to play a female protagonist. There are a lot of people like that, who can't have fun in a porn game because they're playing with a female MC. There are also people who are bothered by the developer not putting the player to choose a name, there are players who think they are the character of the game, just visit some forums and you will see this. It's quite surreal!
As for my point of view, I was already realizing the strategy that DS was doing, so as not to have a lot of work in creating two different stories, he preferred to put the two of them together, thus forcing the player to like Max's story, maybe they were tired of creating two stories in one game, or maybe they were wishing their fans would start wanting them to focus on Max's story and leave Kate's story to one side.
Now, I have to say, playing female MC is not my favorite, I even play without problems, but if there is this romance like AWAM or gameplay like Bright Past, I'm out!
Therefore, I even found Kate's story interesting of being a virgin, shy, innocent and being corrupted by her sister Julia. But that didn't go any further, the story ended up straying from focus and entering an unknown abyss, which DS and its writer ended up messing up.
Today, I prefer Max's story, even though she's not very good, I like Ann, Kira and Lisa's renderings, they got better comparing to the old BB, but if we're going to talk about history, there isn't. We know BB has no challenge for Max, he will fuck all the girls and that's it. Some players will get tired, they will say that there is no interesting story, which is true, because the game has already started with the corrupted family, without doing the player's job corrupts it little by little. So don't worry, DS and his team have already shot themselves in the foot.
Please how to force update of online version, or how to get saves from online version to offline?

how do i get 0.39 content? I have all quest done for kate except for "villa" and "sofie" but its the same dialogue and photos when i do them. what am i missing? for villa quest i can do bjs with lisa, have sex in alice's room and do anal in front of ann.

I would appreciate if anyone could tell me how to movie "Sophie" quest forward. Applied the fix, but still cannot progress, didn;t get "Extra lessons" quest either, not to mention that "Karen" quest is stuck also.

That's a bug. A patch file was posted soon after 0.39 was

If you get a choice when Ann punishes Max. that's it you will need to await a future update.
